Emilia has had a hard few months.
First, she finds out her soon-to-be baby brother has a heart defect.
Due to this, the Muggle doctors convince her parents to induce labor.
Rather than saving the baby's life, however, this process causes the death not only of the baby but of Emilia's mother as well.
Not wanting to stay in a house full of memories, Emilia's father relocates the two of them to Ottery St Catchpole, and Emilia begins the summer of her third year mother-less, brother-less and old house-less.
Yet when her father, a Muggle, stumbles upon the Burrow and excitedly shows Emilia, she meets someone who may just be able to turn her life around.
