You're My Kryptonite

My Sister's Keeper.

My phone buzzed on the table across from where I was sitting eating a late dinner. I sighed, looking at the caller. Trinity. Great.

"What's up?" I asked, a little shocked that she was calling me at 2 in the morning.

"Uh, hello, this is Deputy Saunders with the Boston Police Department. I'm sorry to disturb you at this hour, but your friend Trinity was found drunk in the street."

"Seriously? Alright, I'll be there in five minutes. Thank you Deputy Saunders." I said, hanging up. I didn't mean to get an attitude with the police officer, but I was so used to getting these calls. I looked at my food, half eaten. I sighed and went back to my room. I put on a pair of American Eagle dark wash artist jeans and a striped navy and white tank top. I put a cardigan over the tank top and slipped on my navy Toms. My makeup and hair from the day still remained. I walked into the kitchen, grabbed my keys and left my apartment to go to my car.

I got into my yellow Volkswagen Beetle, starting it up and buckling my seatbelt. There was unusual traffic, at least for this part of Boston, but I got to the police department around 2:40 A.M. I parked my car, and ran into the police station.

"I'm here to pick up my sister, Trinity Landry." I said to the officer at the front desk. They pointed at my sister, passed out in a chair. Another officer helped me get her into my car.

"Thank you so much, I'm so sorry you guys had to deal with this," I apologized on behalf of my sister.

"It's no problem ma'am. What with that concert tonight, a lot of girls were doing the same thing," The officer said, sending me on my way with a smile and a cheerful 'Goodnight.'

What I enjoyed about my apartment complex is that there were rooms that they rented out. I've met a lot of amazing tourists and have made many friends because it's the "fanciest" in the entire city. I pulled up to my parking spot and went around to my sister's door to attempt to get her out of the car. I got her out of the car and practically drug her to the front doors. There were only a group of 5 young guys and 1 older man in the lobby, so I figured tonight wasn't a very busy night despite what the officer said about the concert. I was struggling to get the door open when I saw one of the young men look up towards the door. He had brown hair - extremely curly - and was around 5'10.

"Here you go, ma'am," He said, smiling a beautiful smile towards me. I stood in shock for a few minutes with my sister's limp, drunken body at my feet. He held the door while I got my sister through the door.

"Do you need some help?" He asked, still smiling.

"That would be really nice," I replied, smiling back at him. He picked up my sister and carried her to the elevator. I hit the button, sending us up to the 3rd floor. I led him to my apartment, unlocking the giant door that led to my dining room, living room, and kitchen. I pointed to a hallway to the side of the dining room.

"You can set her down in the bed down that hallway to the left," I said. He nodded and took her to the room and laid her on the bed.

I looked at the food I had made before having to leave and sighed again, throwing it into the trash out of frustration. The young man came through the hallway and towards my kitchen where I was standing.

"I'd like to think I helped a damsel in distress..." He said with a British accent, smiling at me.

"Well too bad I'm no damsel," I said, winking at him, "I never caught your name..."

"Harry. Harry Styles," He said, smiling and holding out his hand.

"Adelaide. Adelaide Landry," I said, putting my hand on his. He brought my hand to his lips gingerly.

"Well it's quite the pleasure to meet you, Adelaide," He said, smiling, "Are you busy for the rest of the night, because me and my band mates are in town for a couple months and I haven't had the chance to meet any pretty girls until five seconds ago. I'd enjoy to...uh...be in your company tonight," He said, looking at me with his beautiful green eyes.

"Well, sir, tonight's your lucky night. As long as we stay here so I can take care of my sister when she wakes up," I said, smiling.

"Alright, well I'm going to get my stuff and put it in our band's room. I'll be right back, Adelaide," Harry said, walking out of my front door smiling.

Well, at least tonight was making a complete turn for the better. I was spending the rest of the night with Harry.

********

I walked out of Adelaide's room smiling like a fool. For just meeting her, I was pretty excited to spend some time with her. Who would've known that simply carrying her sister's limp drunken body to her apartment would give the the opportunity to meet such a beautiful girl.

I met my band mates on the way to the elevator. Liam, Louis, Zayn, and Niall were all holding their luggage. I looked around and noticed that Simon had my bags as well as his.

"Thanks, Simon," I said, taking my bags from him.

"No problem," he said, unlocking the door to our apartment. It was right across the hallway from Adelaide. Awesome.

"Well I'm going to go hang out with the girl I just met," I said, getting ready to cross the hall.

"Wait...the passed out hammered drunk one, or the pretty damsel in distress?" Liam asked, setting his stuff on the already crowded dining table.

"Adelaide. She's really cute and sweet. I'm gonna go hang out with her. She seems lonely," I said, opening the door.

"Is that code for she seems easy?" Zayn said, giving me a suspicious look.

"No, this girl is a lady. I'm going to treat her as one," I said, slamming the door behind me. I rested my head on the wall before I decided to walk forward and place my hand on Adelaide's doorknob. I opened the door, looking over to see her popping popcorn over her oven top.

"Back," I said, smiling and walking over to her.

"Well welcome to my lovely home," She said, smiling at me while the kernels popped around.

"It is quite lovely...Lets play twenty questions," I said smiling at her.

*******

"So how old are you?" He asked me, looking deep into my blue/grey eyes with his green ones.

"I'm 17. I graduated high school early and moved out on my own," I said, answering his question before he had time to ask it.

"Oh, I'm 18," He said smiling, "Well, this is question number 20 so I need to make it count...Do you have a boyfriend?"

"No," I said. Immediately I remembered the pain. I remembered Bryan. I remembered the bruises and the cuts and the wounds. A look of pain crossed my face, involuntarily.

"Are you okay?" He asked, immediately worried.

"I'm fine," I said, brushing it off like it was nothing while in my head I was remembering every scream, every curse, every smash...

"Well, I don't have a girlfriend," He said, smiling at me, "Would you like to watch a movie?"

"Sure, you can look over there. I have more VHS tapes than I do DVDs, so you might want to look through those first," I said, pointing to my VHS tape holder. I walked into my kitchen to get a bottle of water, then sat on my counter chugging the entire bottle.

"Uh, Adelaide...."

"Yeah Harry?"

"All you have are Disney movies," He said, looking at my old copies of the Aristocats, Beauty And The Beast, and The Little Mermaid.

"Well I'm a girl and I happen to really enjoy Disney movies," I said, walking over and kneeling beside the frazzled boy.

"Well I guess we'll have a Disney movie marathon, I've never seen this one," He said, holding up the Aristocats. I gasped dramatically and looked at him like he was insane.

"The Aristocats! It's the best Disney movie that isn't a princess movie that has ever been made! It takes place in France, even," I said, taking the VHS out of the case and placing it in my VHS player, making sure it was rewound before hitting play.

"Well lets watch it then!" Harry said, smiling and sitting on my couch. The movie started and I sat beside him, making sure to leave a little bit of space between us.

About 15 minutes into the movie Harry looked over at me and sighed.

"Get over here, you act like I have cooties," He said, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me close to him. He grabbed my hand and laced our fingers together and placed a kiss on the top of my head.

Eventually I fell asleep in his arms to the consistent pound of his heart. I think I'm taking a liking to Harry Styles.
