Sequel: All The Small Things

The Girl At The Rock Show

(06 Days After)

Matt’s POV:

“Matt! Hey Matty Mouse! Wake up!” He heard Tessa say as sudden weight fell on his stomach. Groaning, he slowly opened his eyes to see his girlfriend sitting on top of him with a huge smile on her face as she watched him slowly begin to wake up.

Glancing at the table beside him, he mustered up the best glare he could manage as he looked at the clock and realized that it was only seven in the morning. All he wanted to do was ignore her in favor of rolling over and going back to bed. But there was a small little problem with that. Tessa was sitting on him, making it harder for him to move. Not that he couldn’t move, but it would just be more effort and he wasn’t in the mood to move much at the moment. All he wanted was sleep. Was that so hard for a guy to ask?

“Oh no you don’t! Don’t fall back asleep on me! You have to get up! Our flight leaves in five hours and we still have to pack and get ready to leave.”

Well that certainly got him to open his eyes again as he stared questioningly at his girlfriend. He had no knowledge of a flight or of leaving to fly anywhere at the moment. The next known flight to him was in a few weeks to head out to Europe for the summer festivals that they were booked for. Any flights before then were news to him. He tried thinking back to the night before when they had stayed up late talking; trying to remember if any part of the conversation had been about flying out somewhere. But he couldn’t recall anything like that, and they hadn’t had one sip of anything to drink that night either.

“What flight?” He finally asked, giving up on the thinking. It was way too early in the morning and he was still foggy from sleep and didn’t want to think at all. All he wanted still was sleep, but his curiosity was getting the better of him at the moment.

Tessa smiled as she looked down at him from where she was on top. He noticed she had one of her adorably rare secretive smiles and reached behind her to pull a few pieces of paper from her pajama pocket. “This flight,”

He sat up the best he could and took the papers from her reading through them. They were the confirmation emails for two tickets from BWI to MCO. Wait, MCO; that was the airport in Orlando Florida. Why were they going to Florida?

Tessa must have sensed his further confusion and rolled her eyes, snatching the papers back from him before continuing. “I figured that after that long and hectic tour that we should go on a little vacation. So I booked us a flight and got us a deal at a local hotel,”

He saw her produce a few more papers and took them from her, scanning them, eyes growing wide as he looked up at his girlfriend with a huge smile on his face.

“You’re taking me to Disneyworld?”

She nodded and bit her lip nervously, “yeah. You didn’t get to go when we were on Warped and I figured that we haven’t officially had our first date yet and we sort of needed to have a little alone time. And what better way to get away from our jobs and annoying friends than to go to the happiest place on earth?”

His smile widened as he sat up fully, making her lose her balance but he caught her quickly and pulled her in for a huge hug.

“You’re the best, seriously!”

“So you like it?” She asked once he let her go from his bear hug. There was a faint red color on her cheeks from the blush and all he did to respond was lean in and kiss her.

“I love it,” he replied. “But not because we’re going to my favorite place on earth. But because you’re going with me!”

She rolled her eyes and blushed more, “you’re such a cheeseball.”

“Yes, but I’m your cheeseball!” He leaned in and kissed the tip of her nose making her giggle.

“You’re an idiot, but seriously get up!” She continued, climbing off of him and turning to grab their bags from the floor. “Our flight leaves at eleven and Vinny’s driving us to the airport at 9:30 so that give us about a two hours to get ready to leave. So hurry up!”

He just smiled as he forced himself up out of bed, clearly not as tired as he was a few moments ago. Especially not when a trip to Disneyworld was involved! He immediately started packing, grabbing some of his clothes that he kept at Tessa’s and began neatly putting them in his bag. About halfway through packing, he noticed that Tessa was quietly humming to herself as she also packed and couldn’t help but stop what he was doing and watch her.

She was so beautiful. Her dark hair in it’s usually curly unruly self and a pair of skinny jeans covering her legs and one of his own shirts as her top. He couldn’t help but realize just how lucky he was as he watched her pack, off in her own little world as usual. After six long years of secretly loving the girl, he could finally officially call her his. Not that he was holding it against her, just that he was glad that he had finally been truthful about his feelings.

At that moment in time, he didn’t know what the future held. He didn’t know if in year or even three years where they would be. Would they be married or engaged? Or would they still even be together. He had no way of knowing and hoped that they would still be together, nothing was certain. But he was ok with that. He was ok with not knowing what the future holds but knew that he was going to cherish every moment he had with her and hope for the best.

Tessa turned when she must have felt his eyes on her and tilted her head to the side, smiling shyly, “what?”

“I love you,”

Matt could honestly say as they stood there in complete silence as those three little words hung in the air for the first time ever that he had never seen that big of a smile spread across her face. She took the few steps between them so that they were standing face to face and he instantly wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close on reflex and returned the smile.

“I love you too,”
