Not So Honest Perfection
Chapter 5 (edited)
Not So Honest Perfection
“No, no, no,” Lenore shook her head. “Don’t jump over, jump up.” She was working on leaps with a group of intermediate dancers. “You girls know this.”
She let out a sigh and shooed the dozen or so girls to the side of the room.
“Let me show you,” Lenore said as she slipped her feet out of their flip-flops. She took three quick strides and leapt, her legs spreading into a 180 degree angle with her feet pointed. “Now go again. And this time, push yourself upwards, not over.” She stepped back and watched her students work. Pleased after a few minutes, she stopped them. “Much better. Now, I want you all to come in on Monday ready to work on turns. I want you all to land your double pirouette in two weeks so that we can start fouettes in time for the showcase. Get going, girls!”
After her morning students had exited, Lenore set her iPod to shuffle, ready to work on the staff dance. She hadn’t even decided on a song, let alone choreography.

Ten minutes later, Lenore paused the song that had come on. The Beatles just weren’t going to cut it; she would have to find something else.
“Well I’m glad to see my daughter will be learning from the best,” a voice said.
Lenore glanced up in the studio mirrors. Behind her, she could see Mario Lemiuex standing with a girl she presumed to be his daughter.
“Mr. Lemiuex. Hello, how are you?” Lenore asked straightening out her hair.
“Very well, thank you. This is my daughter Stephenie. Stephenie, this is Lenore Chambres, she owns the school,” Mario introduced.
“Hello,” the teenager waved. “After seeing that, I’m really excited to be here.”
“Well we’re excited to have you. If the two of you want to come to my office, we’ll get the paper work squared away,” Lenore smiled as she led them out of the studio.

“Come in Monday around 7. I’ll evaluate you and then we’ll place you for your classes, alright?” Lenore explained as she walked the Lemieuxs to the door.
“Sounds fine,” Mario nodded. “Her mother is looking forward to meeting you.”
“I look forward to meeting her,” Lenore assured the man. “I’ll see you then.”

Satisfied with the fact that she had gained a new student, Lenore went home to change for her shopping spree with a smile on her face. She had completely forgotten the voicemail from Jason.
