How Could This Happen to Me?

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Nichole stood behind Pierre as he sat at his desk working on his homework.

A long sigh left Pierre as her fingers combed through his hair, stopping every so often to pull on a few chunks before releasing and continuing on to the next spot.

The elder of the two started to drift off to sleep slowly at this comforting touch, he shook his head and stood up. “You gotta stop that, Nic.”

Nichole smirked as Pierre’s cheeks turned slightly red, “You never complained before, Pierre.”

Pierre rolled his eyes, “Well the guys and I had a group meeting and decided that every time you try that on us, we turn to jello.”

Nichole crossed her arms, “And? What’s so bad about that?” she asked.

Pierre chuckled, “Uh, it makes who ever is getting the special treatment look less manly then the rest. Who could resist the touch of a women.”

“You just did.”

Pierre gave her a somewhat glare which caused Nichole to back up the conversation, “It’s not a bad thing Pierre. I know it puts your tough look you gotta keep up for the rest of the guys at stake, but the way I see it, it relaxes each and every one of you instantly. That’s why I keep doing it.”

“I think you’ll have to ease off on relaxing Chuckles, he’s been pretty tense ever since the Lefebvre’s came into town.”

Nichole couldn’t help but have a huge grin cross her face, “Oh, you know he’s been keeping his eyes on Kate every chance he gets. It’s not a bad thing, and it’s nice to see one of my boys growing up and actually taking a step to make something happen.”

Pierre grumbled in disagreement, “I think he’s moving in way to fast, he’ll creep her out.”

Nichole smacked Pierre on the chest, he instantly went to rub the area. “Well it’s the damn truth. I mean look at her brother, Sebastien. He has never seen you before in his life until yesterday, and the moment you stepped up to him and pressed your forehead to his, he had his hands all over you.”

“Give him a break, Bouvier. He wasn’t doing anything worth getting into a fight for.”

Pierre sighed as he walked over to his bed and sat down, “Yes, I’m sure you didn’t even notice the erection he had for you, Nichole. I wouldn’t call that the worlds greatest meeting. He acted like he was surrounded by a bunch of playboy bunnies or some shit, he could’ve kept it low key instead of acting like he just hit puberty.”

Nichole blushed deeply at this, “I’m not saying I didn’t notice it Pierre, it was hard not to. It was an odd way for a introduction, but I’m not going to run away and hide from him just because his body reacted just like any other males would.

Pierre took off his shirt and jeans before tossing them in his laundry basket, he crawled under the blanket on his bed and looked up at his ceiling. “You don’t see the rest of us with an erection.”

Nichole didn’t say anything to this, although she knew Pierre meant it as if the guys knew how to make sure a situation like that never happened, especially around her or even at school.

It also hit her pretty hard knowing she was constantly surrounded by guys, and just by Pierre’s last comment it seemed as though she wasn’t much to look at if they weren’t even interested in her.

Nichole walked back over to Pierre’s desk and shut off the lamp before climbing into her side of the bed and covering herself with the blanket. She nuzzled her head into the pillow and closed her eyes.

Pierre turned his head, seeing Nichole was faced the other way instead of towards him like usual. He closed his eyes and cleared his mind, not a moment to soon he felt sadness roll off of Nichole.

Realizing it was something he said, Pierre instantly felt guilty. Not wanting to push it any further, he turned the other way also and closed his eyes. “Goodnight, Nic.”

“Night, Pierre.”

---- The next morning

Sebastien looked at himself carefully in the mirror, he didn’t feel as confident as he had the day before as there was a cut on his lip, a scratch on the side of his nose, and a bruise that was on the left side cheek.

A knock sounded on the door frame, Kate stood by the entrance staring at him with concern written all over her face.

“So, what exactly happened to you yesterday? You wouldn’t talk about it at all at the dining table last night.”

Seb shrugged it off, “I may have gotten in Pierre’s way.”

Kate sighed and walked into the bathroom and looked at the bruise that had gotten worse over night. “I knew that boy was trouble the moment I set eyes on him, he always seems to be in a bad mood.”

Seb nodded his head in agreement, “I’m not too worried about him anymore though. I’ll be hanging around Chuck most of the time unless I meet someone else there who won’t kick my ass within the first five minutes.”

Kate thought for a moment before speaking once more, “Where did Chuck say to meet him at?”

Seb lowered his head, “Remember that one side of the neighborhood where the private property houses are actually within the forest and away from any other homes…well, he told me to find an old black Jeep truck and that’s where he’ll be.”

Kate crossed her arms and chewed on her bottom lip, “Whose house do you think that’ll be at?”

Seb combed his short hair with his fingers, giving it a groomed but not perfect look. “As long as its not Pierre’s, I don’t care.”

-----

Seb had followed the same route as both he and Kate had walked only days ago, the leaves were still settled within the trees, each leaf having its own separate color, not one next to another that was the same.

Only a few leaves were scattered amongst the sidewalk, but surely not enough to where everyone was outside raking.

Sebastien felt like it would’ve been a better idea had he taken his father’s vehicle. But just incase Seb had driven all the way to where Chuck said to go, he didn’t want to show up with the oldest vehicle there and get laughed at on Monday for showing up at the wrong place.

The walk suddenly felt shorter then it had before, as Seb now stood at the entrance of the forest. He looked around noticing the view he was focused on before had changed completely. “Uh, gotta stop spacing out like that.” he mumbled.

Seb stared down the long dirt road, his stomach tightening. The jokes he had made earlier didn’t seem quite as funny anymore as he now realized he was about to meet the people who lived down the creepy road.

Looking between gravel and paved road, Seb felt more relaxed by the one that had a sidewalk.

With this in mind, Seb backed up slowly keeping his head down.

Something deep inside of him took over instantly, halting him from taking another step back.

Move forward.

Seb shook his head, “I don’t want to…”he whispered.

A low growl suddenly built up in his throat, and before he realized that his body was reacting before his brain could process it, Sebastien was walking down the dirt road with his head held high.

Mind blank, the fear he once had completely disappeared. The once slow cautious steps he took were now big steps of confidence.

Within minutes, the first house appeared. Luckily for him, out on the driveway stood an old black Jeep truck. Relief and happiness took over Sebastien’s entire body instantly. He froze on the spot once more as the feelings overwhelmed him a little, causing his heart to beat like crazy and everything began to feel tingly.

A whistle echoed loud enough to snap Seb from spacing out again. A couple hand claps followed it, “Hey, Lefebvre!”

Seb looked towards the garage door seeing Chuck waving towards him, he walked along the dirt road until he was on the property and stood in front of his new friend. “Hello, Chuck.”

Chuck had a huge grin on his face, “I didn’t think you’d show up, you looked like you were ready to bolt as soon as you saw Nichole’s truck.”

Whatever the feeling he was beginning to have that took over him whenever it wanted to was, it came back now. It forced Sebastien to turn ninety degrees and stare at the truck beside them. “This…is Nichole’s truck?”

Chuck nodded his head, “I figured you would’ve put the pieces together when I mentioned that you should bring the topic up about your family owning an old Jeep. But, I guess there really isn’t much to brag about a vehicle that had its time and now it’s a dinosaur compared to everything else.”

Seb couldn’t help but smile a little as Chuck felt the same way about out-dated family vehicles.

“Can’t blame Nic though, her mind is always thinking, trying to figure stuff out. She is in her happy place when working on her truck. None of us guys pay close attention to oil changes or tire rotations so…she takes care of our vehicles just as much as her own.”

Seb’s eyes scanned across the cab and then towards the bed of the truck, he felt his chest tighten.

8 foot bed truck, plenty of space for activities

Seb shook his head at the voice talking to him, he distracted his mind by looking away and down at the tires.

“I wouldn’t think about pissing on those tires, Bud.”

Seb’s eyes grew big suddenly, he looked back over to Chuck with surprise written all over his face.

Chuck laughed, “You had the same look in your eyes that David gets all the time. His eyes zoom in and focus on something, and just by the way he looks at it, you can tell he wants to pee on it. Sure enough, few minutes later he’s either pissing on someone’s flowers, on a tree, or a chair.”

Seb’s face turned slightly red with embarrassment, “I really don’t have to go, its just when I looked at the tires I suddenly felt like I needed to…” he looked down at his feet instantly.

Chuck crossed his arms in front of himself and shrugged his shoulders as if he didn’t care, “Ah, don’t worry about it, Seb. It’s the wolf wanting to mark its territory. Kinda like, what’s hers is mine sorta thing. Nic’s truck, most of the pack mates being male…yours is just wanting to make a statement. But if I were you, I would resist if possible. David peed on them a few times already, Nichole wasn’t too happy about it since he got urine all over the rims. She doesn’t know it was him, David always has the excuse that it was someone’s dog running loose and ruining everyone’s tires.”

Just then the back door of the house opened and Nichole stepped out.

Seb couldn’t help but lower his head instantly, making sure he didn’t catch a glimpse of her.

“Chuck, Pat has to talk to you real quick about something.”

Chuck looked to Seb, causing the younger of the two to look at him for a few seconds.

A message played in his mind when their eyes connected.

Don’t lower your gaze, Sebastien. The more you make both yourself and the wolf look down whenever Nichole appears, you’re frustrating the darker half. Let him see her for a few seconds so you both can relax. Avoiding any sort of contact will cause negative results.

Chuck looked away from Seb and walked towards the door, “Thanks, Nic.”

Nichole stood in the same spot until the door closed completely behind Chuck, after that she turned her full attention towards Sebastien.

Seb still kept his head lowered, that is, until Nichole stepped closer and put her hand under his chin to raise his head up so he was forced to look at her.

“Who did this to you?” she asked.

Seb raised his head up so she could look at him properly. His eyes avoided contact though, afraid to see how she felt.

Nichole raised her other hand and placed it against the side of his head, her fingers instantly playing with his hair.

Seb’s head tilted slightly, resting against her arm. His eyes rolled shut, a huff leaving his nose.

Nichole lifted her other hand once more and pressed her finger tips very gently around the bruise, this caused Seb to open his eyes and see what she was up to.

Nichole’s fingers traced from the bruise, to the scratch on his nose, and then at last stopped by his lips. At this moment, she looked up into Seb’s eyes. Her eye brows rose slightly seeing the once light blue color was now a much darker shade of blue.

Seb couldn’t keep his eyes off hers now that they were connected, he felt happiness build up inside of him once more, and it wasn’t the one he wanted Nichole to see again.

The sound of the door opening caused Sebastien to step away immediately and look towards the ground.

Nichole looked to see who it was, Chuck approached them.

“Alright Seb, time to meet Patrick.”

Seb nodded as he turned away from Nichole completely and followed Chuck back into the house.

Chuck made sure Nichole walked out of the garage and disappeared from sight and into the back yard before looking back towards Seb.

“You tried not to look at her didn’t you?” Chuck asked.

Seb’s face tinted red, “I held off as long as I could, but as soon as she was checking out the bruise on my face, I felt over-powered and couldn’t hold myself back any longer.”

Chuck smiled, “I told you not to resist the wolf, although you may or may not believe there is a connection between you two. The wolf senses things that the average human can not. Granted, his eyes laid on the first girl that wasn’t blood related so…maybe its an over-reaction.”

Seb wasn’t sure what to say, as this ‘new side’ of him was very different.

Chuck walked him into the kitchen, where a guy sat at the kitchen table with a ham sandwich in hand. His hairstyle was similar to Chuck’s, but instead of the small faux hawk going from front to back, it was only slightly spiked up front.

“Patrick, this is Sebastien Lefebvre. Seb, this is Pat. He is the Shaman, or in better well known terms, the medicine guy who will treat your wounds, our healer.”

Pat looked between the two before setting his sandwich back down on a plate. He stood up from his seat and reached his hand out.

Seb looked down at it for a second, before reaching out and shaking the hand. “Nice to meet you, Pat.”

Patrick smiled, “To you as well, Sebastien. Chuck tells me you’ve just recently had the wolf wake up, and you’re having a hard time believing you’re a werewolf.”

Seb nodded, “Seeing is believing I guess, and I don’t see how it makes me one.”

“Fair enough.” Patrick agreed, he looked him up from head to toe.

“You look physically well taken care of, except for the damage Pierre has done.”

Seb sighed, “Does everyone know about it?” he whispered.

Pat smirked, “Well, you were hitting on Nichole, and everyone in our pack knows better then to try hitting on the Alpha males selected mate.”

Chuck laughed at this, “Nic doesn’t belong to anyone, don’t get Sebastien’s wolf angry either. The last thing we need is for Pierre and him to turn into their wolf and expose our secret in front of the one pack mate that isn’t even our kind.”

Pat grew serious once more and walked around Seb, he nodded his head slowly. “Once the small wounds heal you should be as good as new. I’m assuming you didn’t transform into the wolf yet so you’re unsure of his condition, let alone fur color?”

Seb looked at him with fear in his eyes, “I can actually transform into it?”

Pat looked at Chuck with a questioning look upon his face, he raised an eye brow.

“Maybe when you’re ready to feel how the wolf is like, you should come here and I’ll teach you myself how to transform. That way we can keep it under control no matter what.”

----

Seb sat on the back porch, with Patrick sitting beside him. Although the two had met thirty minutes earlier, the elder of the two liked sticking around the new guy.

No words were spoken as Sebastien listened quietly for the truck in front of the house to start up and move. For whatever reason, anxiety took over him from time to time when he didn’t hear a curse sworn or a tool drop.

The ‘wolf’ part of him released a quiet whine once in a while, which in turn made Pat look at him with concern.

“If you wanna go watch Nic work on her truck, you’re more then welcome to.”

Seb turned his head to look at Patrick, his eyes tearing up a little. Pat shook his head and chuckled, it looked as though a pup was looking at an elder and was given permission to go out and play with the tennis ball.

Without a second more of hesitation, Seb stood up and walked around the house towards the truck.

Nichole lay on her back, taking care of something underneath the Jeep as Sebastien approached her.

Hearing the sound of foot steps, she backed herself up slowly and then stood up, wiping her hands on a towel.

Seb’s heart started going crazy once more, it suddenly became very difficult for him to breathe, happiness overwhelming again. The constant happy then sad emotion roller coaster ride was beginning to make him sick, and it made him terribly confused as well.

With his stomach flipping multiple times, Seb lowered his head not being able to look her directly in the eyes.

Without either of them noticing, Chuck stood by the back door watching.

Nichole sighed seeing Sebastien avoid looking at her, “Pierre did this to you didn’t he? That’s why you won’t even raise your head to look me in the eyes.”

Seb didn’t say anything, he took a few steps back, deciding maybe it wasn’t a good idea to approach Nichole when no one else was around.

The further Sebastien backed away, Nichole made the decision of her own that it was clear that he wasn’t going to speak to her.

Just as Seb turned himself around to head towards the back porch and sit with Patrick, he was frozen on the spot as his other half took over.

Panic overcame Sebastien instantly as he realized what was happening, he was no longer in control of the actions he was about to make.

His eyes grew to the darker shade once more, and as hard as he tried communicating with his brain to keep heading towards the backyard, it refused and forced him to turn around and walk back over to Nichole.

At this time, Nichole was currently taking a plastic bag out of her truck that contained the oil and filter she was about to use.

Two emotions hit Sebastien as he approached her, the first one was sadness mixed with rejection. But as soon as he was in Nichole’s view once more, and she saw him, the emotion turned to anger.

“Now what the hell do you want? You haven’t said a god damn word to me ever since the day we met!” she spat.

Before she actually saw how close he was getting, she noticed his eyes were a darker blue once more compared to the lighter shade it had been a minute ago.

Fear suddenly crossed Nichole’s eyes as she saw the completely focused look he had.

A deep growl formed in the back of Sebastien’s throat, he stepped towards her until Nichole’s back bumped into the bed of the truck.

She instantly began to shake, thinking maybe he was going to fight her. Nichole closed her eyes tightly at this thought.

It didn’t make the situation any easier as Seb closed the gap between them, his body pressed firmly against hers.

Nichole opened her eyes and looked at him, seeing he was staring back, looking directly in her eyes. His eyes searched hers, as if he was waiting for her to make the next move.

Growing a little impatient, Seb pressed their foreheads together, bringing their faces extremely close to one another.

Nichole blushed at this, she finally decided to put her arms around his neck, her fingers instantly going into his hair.

Seb felt his eyes roll back once more, a jolt passed through his entire body before going down to his leg and making his right foot tap lightly on the ground.

As her fingers traveled inch by inch, pulling chunks of his hair gently. Sebastien turned his head away from her hand and nuzzled the cheek that wasn’t bruised, along her throat.

“Oh! So you like hugs too!”

Both Seb and Nichole’s eyes snapped open at the voice beside them.

Sebastien felt control come back to him once more, he looked back towards Nichole then looked down to see what he had done this time.

He groaned quietly seeing the position he had put them in, embarrassment took over him instantly seeing he was holding Nichole against the one area he had hoped she’d never have to experience so soon again. It didn’t lighten the situation at all that a tent had formed in the front of his pants.

Seb took a step back, releasing Nichole and looking the other way.

“Hey David.” Nichole smiled as the friend leaned against her truck, looking back and forth between the two with a huge grin on his face as if a moment didn’t just happen.

Seb tucked his hands deep into his pockets, turned and walked fast towards the back of the house.
