Sweet Temptations

Moving On

As much as it pained Ava to leave London after growing to love it there, she needed a break. Lucia had said the move might do Ava some good. Looking at their perspective, Lucia and Vincent had grown tired of living in a busy city. They were older now, retired and they wanted peace.

On Ava's last day in England, she had packed everything. She was so used to moving, it hardly mattered to her anymore. Ava just didn't care. She had visited Latoya earlier in the morning. Latoya understood why her friend had to leave, obviously she took the news pretty badly, it hurt to know that Ava would no longer be around. Ava insisted Latoya now has a life of her own. They'd still keep in touch and Ava's parents even reassured Latoya could visit whenever she wanted.

Later that afternoon, Ava had spoken with her father about the house. Vincent informed his daughter they were selling but Ava herself had a better proposition. Vincent listened and agreed to let his daughter carry out the plan along as he could help her. The deal was soon settled as Ava took the documents for the house into her own matter.

Before Ava was about to leave for the airport, she had one final task to do. Ava kissed her parents goodbye as she was meeting them at the airport later that night. She got into her car and made her way. While on the way to Fernando's, Ava contained herself and thought of a way to say her best goodbyes. It wasn't going to be easy. As of the last argument, 4 days had passed since Fernando and Ava last saw one another. Ava felt completely torn as she fell to pieces in the last coming days. She'd never seen Fernando react the way he did. The fact he didn't believe her and walked out on her broke Ava's heart even more. Something wasn't right. His attitude had lowered to a deeper level where it was sickening.

Ava didn't know what tonight would expect. She didn't know if he'd even speak with her, let alone see her. Ava didn't care, she was going to see him whether he was having attitude problems or not. When Ava finally arrived at the house, she noticed both cars in the drive which confirmed Olalla and Fernando were definitely home, much to Ava's liking. She got out of the car, taking a signed and sealed envelope with her to the door. Ava knocked and she came face to face with Olalla who had answered straight away. A scowl set on the woman's face.

"What the hell are you doing here? You know you aren't welcome."

"Listen, I don't have time for this." Ava replied crossly. "I came here to speak with Fernando."

"If you've come to win him back after letting him loose, you're too late."

"That's not the reason I'm here."

"He told me what happened you know, what you said to him. I laughed so much it was priceless."

"You manipulated him, obviously you did something to him."

"I did nothing." Olalla spat. A small smirk appeared on her face. "He just eventually gave up with you and your tiny whiny complaints. I got what I wanted, he warmed up to me."

"More like you have him wrapped around your finger. Fernando isn't a possession, he's a human being, with feelings. You can't just push him to the side Olalla and pull him back whenever you want, you're disgusting and you're cruel. I don't have time for this." Ava yelled in her face. She barged past Olalla and stormed inside the house. "Where is he?"

"He's out back, don't expect a nice welcome."

Ava headed out to the garden and her anger instantly vanished. The sight of Fernando teaching Leo how to score a goal melted her heart. Fernando picked him up and they both cheered together. The small boy didn't take long to notice Ava who was standing behind them. When Leo saw her, his face shown with delight. "Ava!" He cried. Fernando placed him back onto his feet and Leo ran over to the female immediately. He hugged onto her leg and Ava hugged him back.

"Hey little man." She smiled down at him. Leo beamed back up at her.

"I didn't expect you to show your face here." Fernando said before he ordered Leo inside. The small boy pouted at his father but then trotted off shouting for his sister.

"I wanted to see you, I need to talk with you."

"I think you said quite enough the other day."

"I didn't come here to argue Fernando, I have something for you." Ava held back her guard and she handed him the envelope which he took carelessly before opening it up.

"Documents?" He asked confusingly.

"To the house."

"But, this is-" He looked at her in bewilderment.

"Exactly."

"Why are you giving me this?"

"Because it's yours, I signed them this morning, the house now belongs to you." She confirmed. His eyes widened and he begun to shake his head.

"I don't-I'm confused, why are you giving me this though?"

"Because I'm leaving Fernando."

The pair stared at one another sadly. Fernando swallowed hard as the 4 words he dreaded to hear, hit the Spaniard like a stone. He looked at her with heartbreaking eyes. "But you can't."

"Now you start to care." Ava muttered, letting out a sorrowful laugh. Fernando made his way over to her. His hand immediately touched her cheek but she jolted away from it.

"It doesn't have to end this way."

"We both walked out on each other, I guess we're even."

"You don't have to do this, we can settle something Ava."

"Ugh, could you make up you're damn mind." Ava shouted. "Ok, the other day you came to me and you told me that you missed me, the next morning, you left me hanging while you told me to forget about you- so which one is it going to be? You either want me or you can let me go but I already made this easier for you. I let you go because I couldn't bare the thought of you losing Nora and Leo." Ava exhaled and stared at him agitatedly. "I can't wait around forever. I want you so badly but it risks too much and I can't live without you either."

"So stay." He whispered tearfully. Ava shook her head and bit her lip.

"I can't."

Fernando directly pulled Ava into his arms while she wrapped hers around his waist, burying her head into his neck. He gripped her tightly and pressed a small kiss to the top of her head.

"I didn't want it to turn out this way." She heard Fernando mumble.

"Neither did I." Ava replied back. They both pulled apart, their faces were close together, only inches apart. They heard someone appear in the background, possibly Olalla but they were too much into their moment that they didn't care.

"There were so many things I had planned for us, places to show you, to spend time with you."

"One day perhaps."

"If we're lucky." Fernando swallowed hard as he let a few tears shed. "I will always love you Ava, nothing can ever change that," he said before pressing his lips onto hers and kissed her like he'd never kissed her before. It was long and meaningful. As long as he were alive, he'd love her because she changed his life. Ava was a part of who he was. When they eventually broke apart, their foreheads were lent on one another and Ava's eyes were still closed. Fernando reached for both of her hands and pressed a kiss to both of her knuckles. He didn't want to let her go but if she was happy, then he'd have to be too. That was enough for him to deal with. Ava deserved it.

"Take care of yourself, for me."

Ava pulled away and turned on her heel. She glanced back at him before she walked off until she was no longer in sight.

"Always." Fernando whispered, letting out a tiny grin.

Before Ava was about to leave the house, she was met Olalla who had a bitchy look on her face. Obviously she saw the kiss and wasn't too happy about it. “Don’t come back.” Olalla said in a quiet, stern tone.

“Don’t worry,” was all Ava could say back to her. She turned the doorknob and slipped off into the night and made her way to her car, not once looking back.
