The Sound of the Beach

She walks down the same path everyday
Letting the time take her away
She walks down the same path every night
For, her heart, just can't bear the sight
The memories have passed, as time heals all wounds
But as she walks this one, nothing is the same
As each day goes by, and the hours fade away
The birthdays are celebrated alone
And the ocean is the new comfort
The girl waits, and she waits
For her loved one to return
"Mommy, mommy, when is Daddy coming home?" The girl asked
The mother kneeled down in front of her and took her hand
Closed her eyes, as her tears fell to the sand
"Honey, Daddy is not coming home. Daddy is too far away." The mom explained
"Where is he? When is he coming home?
"Daddy is not coming home"
