That's something that no one can ever know because it didn't happen, and whenever someone did notice something they brushed it to one side. Sometimes it's easier to pretend that you didn't see something, although when questioned about it not many will admit that they saw something and were reluctant to do anything about it.
The only one who tried to make people aware about Nathan was little Ronan Wilkins, but little children are known for not understanding what they see so there was no validity to his statement. If only they had believed him, if only their minds were open to the possibility that a child could see more than they could. If only they could have dropped the ifs, then maybe little Nathan Mill would still be alive.
