Chapter 1

Flashback

“Honey, I’m pregnant.” I told my husband of two days

“Are you serious?” he asked with a serious look on his face

“Yes. Milan Lucic you’re gunna be a Daddy.” I said

“You’ve just made me the happiest guy in the world again.” He said pulling me into a hug

“You will always make me the happiest women.” I replied with a smile then kissed him

Five years later (2014)

“C’mon Rikki we need to get going!” Milan yelled up the stairs

“We’ll be down in a minute!” I replied “C’mon Maddie we need to go.”

“Can I wear my Seguin jersey?” my daughter asked

“Fine but if Daddy asks you wanted to wear it.” I replied “C’mon Shawn we need to go!”

“I’m right here Mommy.” My son said

“Where’s your jersey?” I asked

“Right here.” He said pulling it off the floor

“I think Daddy is going to be upset you guys aren’t wearing his jersey.” I said

“But Uncle Pat (Patrice) is awesome.” He said

“I’ll wear his jersey.” I replied

“C’mon we have to leave now we can see Uncle Tyler and Auntie Riley!” Milan said

“Coming!” both of our kids say

All three of us walked down the stairs. I was greeted my loving husband and open arms.

“I like your shirt.” He said

“I like your nose.” I replied “And they call Brad the Nose Face Killah.”

Milan laughed still in his arm we kissed. We felt our two kids grabbing our legs. We all grabbed our coats and jumped into the car.

“Hey Rikki over here.” I heard Seguin’s wife, Riley, call

“C’mon guys let’s go see Auntie Riley.” I told my twins

“Auntie Riley!”Maddie and Shawn said as we got closer to Riley

“Hey guys.” She replied

“I’ll take Brad.” I told her

Brad was Tyler’s and hers one year old son and you can guess he was named after Brad Marchand and Milan.

“Hi Buddy.” I said to the drooly baby

“Hi.” He said with a huge smile

The guys won the game like always again they were a Stanley Cup contending team.

“Mom can we see Daddy?” Maddie asked

“Yeah let’s go.” I said

I took both of their hands and we laughed and talked about the game till we reached the locker.

“Daddy!” they both yelled when they saw Milan

“Hey guys.” He replied

“Nice shirt, Maddie.” Seguin said picking up my daughter

“Thanks Uncle Tyler.” She said wrapping her short arms around his neck

“You let her wear a Seguin shirt?” Milan asked sarcastically

“You wanted to leave and I didn’t feel like arguing with her.” I replied

The locker roomed cleared and we were all in the parking lot talking. We all said good bye and
headed home.

“You get pajamas, I’ll do teeth.” Milan said as we walked through the door

“Okay, c’mon guys bed.” I said to our sleepy children

After I got the kids changed and Milan brushed their teeth we plopped down on the couch and
turned on the TV.

“They have way to much energy.” I said

“Are they always like this after we win?” Milan asked

“Yup try putting them to bed by yourself.” I replied

“That’s why I’m glad we can do it together every once and awhile.” He said

I yawned and I felt Milan’s arm wrap around my waist.

“I Love you.” I whispered on his ear

“I Love you too.” He replied

“I hate to say it but I’m going to bed.” I said getting up

“I’m coming with you.” He replied

We went upstairs I got changed and crawled underneath the covers. I fell asleep but was still kind of awake.

“I Love you.” I heard Milan say and then kiss my forehead

I woke up the next morning with my head in the crook of Milan’s shoulders and my arm around his waist with him holding my hand. It was things like this that made me fall in love with Milan Lucic.

“Mommy! Daddy!” I heard Maddie and Shawn yell

“They’re up.” Milan said sleepily

“Yup.” Was all I said

“Mommy! Daddy!” our twins said running into our room

“Hey.” We both said to our little ones

Milan picked up Maddie and I picked up Shawn. Then the phone rang and I quickly answered it.

“Hello.” I said

“Hey Rikki it’s me Tammy.” The person on the phone said

“Hey Tammy.” I said

“I was wondering if you were doing anything today?” she asked

“No I’m doing nothing today.” I replied

“Great do you want to go to the mall with me? No kids.” She said

“Yeah let me ask Milan.” I replied

I blocked the speaker with my hand and asked Milan if he could watch the kids

“Hey babe can you watch the kids while I go out with Tammy?” I asked

“Yeah I can do that.” He replied

“I can go.” I said into the phone

“Great I’ll pick you up in like an hour or so.” She said

“That would be great.”

As soon as I hung up I heard loud and I mean loud laughing. I walked into the living room and found my family on the couch with smiles on their faces.

“Hey.” I said with a smile on my face

“Mommy.” Shawn said running towards me

“Hey bud.” I said picking him up and resting him on my hip

“When are you and Tammy leaving?” Milan asked

“In about an hour.” I said putting Shawn down

I went upstairs and got changed. I wore dark skinny jeans, a TEMPERLEY LONDON Florelle Blouse, and a pair of black heels. I did my hair and make-up and walked down stairs to find everyone in the kitchen.

“Hey Mommy is here.” Milan said

“Hey.” I said kissing Milan

“You look hot.” He whispered

“Thank you.” I whispered back

“Mommy where are you going?” Maddie asked

“I’m going out with Auntie Tammy for awhile.” I replied smoothing out her hair

“Oh what are we going to do?” she asked

“You get to spend the day with me.” Milan said

“Doing what?” she asked

This was typical Maddie she was exactly like me. Always questions what is going on instead of just thinking she doesn’t have to worry.

“We are going to watch a hockey game and movies.” Milan replied

“Okay.” She replied turning back to her breakfast

I grabbed a bowl of cereal and started my morning routine getting Maddie and Shawn dressed, teeth brushed, and hair brushed.

“Ow that hurt Mommy.” Maddie said

“Stand still and it won’t hurt.” I replied

“Ow.” She said

“Do you want Daddy to do it?” I asked

Maddie quickly shook her head no.

“Thought so.” I replied

I pulled Maddie’s hair into a pony tail and sent her on her way.

“Tammy is here.” Milan yelled up the stairs

“I’ll be down in a second.” I replied
I quickly fixed my hair and picked up something’s in the bathroom. I grabbed my purse and coat and went down the stairs.

“Hey.” She said
“Hey.” I replied giving her a hug
“Ready to go?” she asked
“Yeah, bye guys I’m leaving.” I said
“Bye Mommy!” Maddie and Shawn said
“Bye babe.” Milan said

We got into her car and we drove to the mall for Mommy day. I was happy I was getting away even if it was just for a couple of hours.
Don’t get me wrong I love being a mom but with the hockey season in full swing I am working even harder for my kids. With Milan not always there I had to fill in both parenting forms.
