About a Girl

Jack and Mary Jane

"Any other memories from when you were a kid," Jarno asked me.

"I pondered for moment. "Yeah, actually there's a lot, but none of them are good. In all honesty, most of them are of me crying or..." I paused. I could feel tears trying to break free, I hated my childhood. Nothing good ever happened. It was all full of shit.

"Shh, kulta," Jarno tried to calm me. "Please don't cry," he said as he brushed away a single tear. "Tell me about, umm, tell me about what lead to me meeting such a beautiful person."

I laughed at him. It hurt so much to laugh. I could feel my chest constrict around me, making it so hard to breathe. "That's a whole story on it's own."

"Tell me , tell me how the world lead you and I to meet."

"I was seventeen when I met you, right."

He laughed, "You were forbidden fruit."

"But I was sixteen when I met the guys."

"It started with them right."

"Yeah," I smiled at the thought, "You can thank them for leading me to you."

"I'll be sure too. We can thank them together."

We were silent for a moment before we heard yelling down the hall. "She is my fucking friend, she is fucking dying, and I want to fucking see her."

No matter how much it hurt, I couldn't help but laugh as I heard Alex yell at the poor nurses. They must have been terrified.

"Sirs, you can't go in there. Please si-," Alex busted in the door followed by Bo, Emil, and Erik.

There eyes widened as they saw me. I must have looked like a mess. My hair full of knots, my eyes sunken in, and machines sticking in my body. I looked like an extra for some sick hospital movie.

"Chelsea," Alex uttered before he just stopped.

Emil quickly cut in with, "We're so sorry we weren't here sooner."

"The damn cops were questioning everyone and wouldn't let anyone leave."

"It's okay guys, it's not y'alls fault."

They all smiled at me. With me being the only american and being from the south, the guys found enjoyment in making fun of my southern drawl. I just smiled as they all pulled up some seats around the hospital bed. They were all dressed in black. They stood out like sore thumbs in the white room. It was silent for a few moments before Alex tried talking again. He looked like he was gonna cry. They all looked like they were gonna cry.

"Chels," he said in a soft voice, "We're so sorry, we coul-"

I stopped him mid-sentence. "Please, can we not talk about it. There's nothing we could have done."

"There's so much we-," he pleaded.

"Please," I begged.

"What were you and Jarno talking about before Alex barged in," Bo asked trying to change the subject mattered.

I gave him a thankful smile. "About how I met you idiots and led me to my knight in black armor," I said trying to lighten the mood.

"Oh, how the day we were cursed with you!" Erik shrieked.

All the guys were laughing. I was smiling like an idiot. Just like when I first met them.

The familiar smell of cigarettes lingered in the air, dousing my clothes in the process. I could see puffs of smoke shine in the lights overhead as the band played. It was just another waste less night of watching bands play. Sometimes the bands really sucked. Which in turn made me feel kind of bad. At least they were playing. At least they had guts, but tonight was different. Tonight's headlining band was, dare I say it, fucking awesome.

Everything about them was just simply amazing. The singers voice was so deep and spine tingling, he had everyone captivated the moment he opened his mouth. The two guitarists knew how to shred. Their fingers flew up and down the fret board in such a blur I was surprised their hands didn't catch on fire. Then there was the drummer. He reminded me of Animal from the Muppets. He was an absolute beast. The only thing that bothered me was that there was no bassist. Being a bassist myself I tended to be a little biased at times. So when a band didn't have a bassist, it bothered me a little. Oh, but did I mention this, they're Swedish. That makes them even more awesome.

"Hey, you're spacing out again."

I looked to my left to see Adam poking me in the stomach. I pushed his hand away before saying sorry.

"How many pills did you take," he questioned.

"Uh, two."

"You sure, you never space out like this on just two."

"I'm just thinking," I said a little annoyed, "Just leave it alone."

"Sorry."

I felt bad for snapping at him, but I just hated when he started questioning me like that.

"You want a drink?''

I looked at Adam who was fishing out his wallet. "Uhh, yeah." I was about to dig for my wallet before Adam said he was paying, and with that he walked away to the bar. I sighed and rested my head against the speaker I was currently sitting on. The band from Sweden had now finished their set and were packing up their stuff.

The speaker I was sitting on was towards the right side of the stage, better known as the guitar side of the stage. The guitarist was wrapping up his cable cords when he noticed me staring at his guitar.

"You like."

Shocked, I looked up to see him smirking down at me. I could feel myself blush a little. His accent was so, for a lack of a better word, his accent was hot. "Uhh," I couldn't help but stutter.

"The guitar," he chuckled.

"Uhh, yeah. Jackson SLSMG, right."

He looked surprised for a moment that I knew what the guitar was before returning back to his smirk. "Yeah, you play."

I shrugged my shoulders, "Prefer bass."

"You know what they say about bass players," he lead on, "They're the quiet ones and the quiet ones are always the most amazing in-"

"You were flirting with her," Jarno screamed at Erik.

Wide eyed Erik said, "Why are you screaming."

"She was only sixteen."

"I didn't fucking know, she was just a chick to me at the time."

"Gee, thanks," I muttered. The guys burst out laughing as I held onto Jarno's hand trying so hard not to laugh. "Can I continue?"

"Let's skip to the dressing room," Emil said.

"After Erik finished his flirting," I emphasized as I looked towards Erik, "Adam came back and Erik invited us back to the dressing room."

"So," Erik trailed off, "He your boyfriend,'' he said pointing at Adam.

I was about to answer when Adam cut in with, "No, were just good friends," he replied curtly while putting an arm around my shoulders. I just rolled my eyes at his immature behavior. We had entered the dressing room to see the rest of the band members already sitting down and drinking.

"Oi," the lead singer shouted, "Who you got there Erik."

Erik was about to reply when he noticed that he didn't even know our names.

"Chelsea," I said with a nod of my head. Adam did the same thing. The guys quickly introduced themselves. The other guitarists was Emil and was the twin brother of Erik. The led singer's name was Alexander, but preferred Alex or Lex. And lastly the drummer's name was Bo, just Bo. They also introduced us to their two merch girls, Astrid and Filip, but preferred Flip.

"Why Flip?" Adam asked.

After his question she simply handed her drink to Astrid and stood from the couch before standing in the middle of the room. Then all of the sudden she flipped backwards . She looked like a dolphin.

After all the introductions and Flips little show, the guys started handing out beers. Adam gladly accepted. They didn't have to know how old we were, but I politely declined. "What's wrong," Erik teased, "Not a prude are we."

I shook my head at him. "No, just prefer Mary Jane over Jack," I smiled sweetly.

He laughed at me. "Ok, I got you," he smirked.

The rest of the night was spent drinking, telling jokes, and just having a good time. It was one of the best nights I've had in such a long time. I felt so comfortable around the guys. Even with the affects of the pill wearing off, I felt so good around them. And I knew Adam was having a great time to.

"So, are you two going to the other Texas shows," Alex asked Adam and I.

"Uh," Alex trailed off.

"Just where are y'all playing?" I finished off for Alex.

"Bo, man, where we playing," Alex asked Bo.

Bo thought for a second, "I think Austin, Houston, and Dallas."

"Man, I'd like to go, but I have family business," Adam said sadly.

"How about you Chelsea?" Erik asked.

I really would like to go, but if Adam wasn't going then I just would feel weird and uncomfortable. I trusted Adam and I didn't wanna go with a bunch of older men who I just met. I looked up to see all eyes on me. I was starting to panic. "Uhh, I-I would l-like t-t-to, but I -ca-can't."

"Why?" Alex asked.

I quickly thought of the excuse that came to mind. "I don't have a ride."

"We'll take you in our van," piped up Emil.

Shit. "Uhh, I-I," I was trying to come up with another excuse before Alex cut me off.

"Excuse us," he said before dragging me out from the room. "What are you doing," he asked annoyed.

"What I'm I doing!" I shrieked. "What the fuck are you doing!" I shouted angrily.

"Keeping you from making a stupid mistake."

"What!" I shouted.

"You like those guys and they like you. They are offering you a chance to have some fun and you're gonna deny them! Why?

"I don't know them, you don't know them. For all we know they could be rapist."

"We both that you're just saying that to get out it."

"So," I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Please," he grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes, "For me. Have fun for the both of us."

"How I'm I gonna get back from Dallas?"

"I'll pick you up, I promise." He was looking deep into my eyes hoping I'd say yes.

I stomped my foot like a child before saying, "You better not forget me asshole." He pulled me into a bear hug lifting me up from the floor. Then we walked back into the dressing room.

"So..." I trailed, "When do y'all leave?"
