Rapunzel

But she was wretched

A woman stood outside a door in a two story house, hands trembling by her sides and tears dribbling down her cheeks. Leaning her body against the wall, she buried her head in her hands, strangled sobs leaving her lips as she thought of her daughter.

She supposed it should have been comforting that it had been that way for so long. The refusing to leave the room, the screaming, the window, the delusions. But it wasn’t. Because staring into the blank, emerald eyes of her daughter she realised that she would forever be alone.
