Save My Heart

Two

Los Angeles was definitely not like Brampton. At all.

"I call the bed by the window!" Tyler yelled running out of the elevator.

"I don't think so!" I ran after him, jumping on his back and stopping him from unlocking the door.

"Children," his mom rolled her eyes but both Candace and Cassidy found it funny.

I pushed Tyler out of the way as I jumped on the bed by the window. "I win," I smirked.

"Um no you don't," he walked over lifting me up and dropping me on the other bed. I crossed my arms over my chest as he laughed.

"Tyler, can I talk to you for a minute?" his mom asked, standing near the door.

I pressed my ear to the door, it sounded like mumbling but I could make out his mom asking if we were going to get into trouble or if anything was going to 'happen'. Tyler scoffed and told his mom she should know us better. It kind of hurt a little but I quickly shook that feeling.

He's my best friend.

I heard the door knob turn and booked it across the room and jumped back on the bed.

"I know you were listening," he rolled his eyes. He quickly began to change out of his clothes and into dress pants, "Interviews."

I nodded, "So does that mean that beauty of a defenseman is here?"

Tyler gave me a quizzical look before realizing who I was talking about, "No Ri."

"What, why not? All these hot drafts picks and I'm not allowed to look?"

"No because you are a beaut yourself and they will take advantage of their soon to be NHL status."

I was not expecting the amount of butterflies that were in my stomach at the moment but they were there, "Ty, I'm not stupid."

"Ri," he sighed.

"I don't know why it matters to you, I know what I'm doing."

"I've got to go, I'll see you later," he sighed, shutting the door behind him.

So Tyler thought I was a beaut, huh? I knew better though than to take it to seriously, he was Tyler Seguin and I knew him better than anyone else.

But still, best friends don't really say that about each other, at least not to each other.

I changed into a cuter shirt, scooping out the prospects in mind. Jackie had taken the girls to Rodeo Drive to some shopping and Tyler was off doing interviews so he couldn't stop me. Maybe I'll even run into a few of the guys?

Taylor Hall and Cam Fowler were standing outside of the conference room, probably waiting for their turn to get interviewed.

"Hey there pretty lady," Cam tried to flirt, catching me off guard.

Guys never really tried to flirt with me or even talk to me. I knew they were looking but come to think of it, I was always with Tyler. He might have been all talk but if he had to he would protect me.

But they didn't know I was friends with Tyler.

"Hey," I slightly waved.

"How you doin'?" Taylor asked, giving me the nod.

These guys are horrible at flirting.

"I'm fine, just walking around," I replied, shrugging.

"Well how would you like to party with a couple of NHL players?"

"You aren't exactly on a team yet so.." I slipped my hands into my back pockets, a small smile spread across my face.

"Well we will be tonight, at the party," Taylor winked.

"Maybe," I smiled in return.

"I'm Taylor Hall and this is Cam Fowler," Taylor introduced the two of them.

"I know who you guys are but I'm Riley," I shook each of their hands. Taylor placing a kiss on the top of mine.

"Oh do you?" Cam smirked.

I rolled my eyes, ignoring his comment. but still smiling in his direction,"So who else is going to be at this party?"

"Tyler, Erik, the rest of the drafts picks and whoever else decides to show up."

Erik. He was the one I had my sight set on but of course Tyler will be there.

"Alright sounds fun," I smiled.

"Here give me your number so we can meet up," he pulled his phone handing it to me as I did the same thing.

"Thanks, see you guys later," I waved heading in the other direction in case that was Tyler in the room. I disappears around the corner, stopping in front of the elevator. My phone buzzed as I was waiting for the elevator doors to open. You really are a beaut ;). it was Taylor.

I was going to text him back when the elevator doors opened, Erik walked right into me. On his phone too.

"I'm so sorry," I apologized, picking my phone off of the ground.

"It's my fault, I'm sorry I should have been paying attention," he bent down as well to pick my phone up, bumping heads with me and knocking me over. "Shit, I'm so sorry."

I slightly laughed, "Don't worry about it," I waved off his frantic apology.

He reached out to help me up, "Well I'm still sorry," he half smiled. He was a lot taller in person, like a good foot taller than I was. But he was also a lot hotter up close and personal.

I am going to get myself in trouble here.

"I'm Erik."

"I know who you are," I smiled shaking his hand, longer than needed. "Oh sorry, I'm Riley."

"Pretty name for a pretty girl," he did that adorable half smile thing again and my heart melted.

These guys really need to stop. I stood there with a goofy grin on my face, not sure what
to say. "Thanks."

"Here," he handed me his phone, the same way Taylor and Cam did. I put my number in and handed him my phone to so the same thing.

"Thanks, I'll text ya later," Erik smiled at me and I melted even more.

"Alright, good luck tonight," I got in the elevator, waving as the doors shut.

I don't know how I managed to get three hot guys to compliment me and give me there in numbers in a matter of minutes. I wasn't complaining though.

Before long everyone was rushing around, helping Tyler get ready as well as getting themselves get ready.

"Where's my other shoe!" Candace whined.

Cassidy threw it to her, nearly hitting me as I moved to the other side of the room.

Finally, everyone was ready to to go and we were off.

"You [url=http://www.polyvore.com/draft/set?id=53263150]look nice,[/ur]" Tyler complimented me.

"You do too," I smiled, squeezing his knee. I knew he was nervous but everything would be fine. It was moments like this that I'm sure people looked at us like we were a couple and had me questioning sometimes why we weren't.

His knee started bouncing again as the draft got started.

The Edmonton Oilers were up first, Tyler knew they weren't going to pick him and I was glad for that. Edmonton is far from Brampton.

"The Edmonton Oilers are proud to select from the Windsor Spitfires, Taylor Hall," I squeezed his knee again in reassurance that he would go next. I pulled out my phone while Taylor was getting his picture taken, congratulating him.

"The Boston Bruins are proud to select from the Plymouth Whalers," the second he said that I knew, "Tyler Seguin."

Tyler had a huge goofy grin on his face as he hugged his mom. He made his rounds, squeezing me a little tighter before making his way up to the front. I couldn't help but snap a few pictures on my phone, this was his proudest moment by far.

See you tonight ;) Taylor texted back. I closed the message before hugging Tyler once again.

Next up was the Florida Panthers and I had my fingers crossed Erik was going to be chosen.

"The Florida Panthers are proud to select, from the Kingston Frontenac's, Erik Gudbranson," I smiled watching Erik hug his family and have the same exact look on his face that Tyler did. Pure satisfaction.

Congrats! You are going to do great :) I texted Erik. I still couldn't believe I managed to get his number.

"Who ya texting?" Tyler asked, trying to look at my phone.

"Nobody," I pulled my phone to my chest as Tyler tried to take it from me.

Thanks, I saw you by the way. Erik finally texted me back. Before I could answer Tyler grabbed me by the arm, it wasn't until we were outside that he started running.

Once we got back to the hotel Tyler changed and was quickly in my room, telling me to hurry up.

"What are you doing?" I shouted at him, causing him to jump and drop my phone.

"Why are you texting Gudbranson and Hall!" He stood up yelling back at me now.

"Am I not allowed to be friends with them?" I yelled back.

"I know you Ri," he sighed, "And I know them."

Why did he think he needed to protect me, why did it matter to him?

"So what are you trying to say?" I stood, arms crossed.

"Guys don't just want to be friends with you, especially not these guys."

Was he trying to tell me something? "Well maybe I don't care? It's just flirting."

He sighed, "Whatever you say, let's go."
