Introduction

My parents haven't always fought.

Sure, they would bicker, but it was always on the little things, such as directions to a destination, or whose turn it was to feed the chickens.

I remember when I was having a sleepover, they fought.

It got so intense (we're talking about cups and plates-smashing intense) that my friends had to phone home, and it that was the end of my sleepover.

One afternoon, I was riding Lady (one of the horses my dad was allowed to keep), and I saw my dad getting into his car.

I quickly got off of Lady, and I ran over to my dad before he got into the driver's seat.

"Dad, where are you going?" I asked, sensing something was wrong.

He sighed.

"Tabby, your mother and I fight too much."

I bit my lower lip.

"So? You guys always made up." I asked.

My dad shook his head.

"No, Tabby. Not this time...we got a divorce."

My eyes widen.

"Wait! Why?" I asked.

"I love you, Tabby." my dad said, dismissing my question.

He gave me a small smile, before driving away, leaving me in the dust: and confused.
