Mitsuagi Byakko: Kunoichi of Legend

A Promise To The Heart

"Banka No Jutsu!" Kokko's jutsu instantly formed a large cave-like hole in the side of a large boulder. "We'll stay here until we get information of of the girl."

Taiseki turned to the girl and grinned. The genjutsu he was using on Rin practically rendered her comatose. Her face was drawn and her eyes were creepily glazed over. Suddenly Kokko turned his head hearing something in a nearby tree.

"I'll sort it out." Taiseki dissipated into his surroundings and appeared behind Obito.

"Alright, let's go," Obito whispered to himself, holding a kunai ready for battle.

"To where?" Taiseki interjected.

Obito turned bewildered of his opponent's sudden appearance when suddenly his blood blanketed the surrounding tree limbs. Kakashi wasted no time destroying the subject. He slashed through his flak jacket. Taiseki could only stare at the silver haired boy in amazement. Obito nearly teared up at the arrival of his teammate. He knew he almost bit the dust.

"Kakashi, why?"

"I couldn't let the crybaby handle it by himself."

"That silver hair and the white chakra blade," he gasped. " Impossible, Konoha's White Fang?

"This is a memento of my father," he replied holding said blade up front.

"Ha, the White Fang's brat. No need to worry then." He disappeared into his surroundings again with his camouflage jutsu.

Kakashi sniffed the air. "His scent has been completely removed. I can only track him by movements in the air currents and sound."

They waited for what felt like hours when Kakashi suddenly heard a footstep boom through his ears. "Obito, behind you!" He dove for his teammate and was slashed up his left eye by an invisible entity.

"Gah, my eye!" Kakashi screamed as he fell to the unforgiving firmness of the tree limb.

"Kakashi, are you alright?" Obito began tearing up yet again.

"Yeah, the enemy is skilled. He's already gotten rid of the kunai with my blood on it." He paused. "Got dirt in your eye again, Obito? Shinobi don't cry, I'm not dead yet."

Obito ran his sleeve across his face. He knew he was a crybaby. He always tries to prove himself to others and make himself noticed, but he's always ending up being saved by everyone. He thought of himself as a complete failure most of the time. He always thought of Sakumo, Kakashi's dad, as a hero. Just because he went against orders and abandoned his mission to save his comrades didn't mean he should be outcasted. He valued his teammates, but even they abandoned him for letting the greater odds die. He was dishonored in the entire village, but Obito thought otherwise. He believed that only a true shinobi would risk their lives to save those dearest to him. Sakumo's life was wasted because the village despised him. Obito felt a deep churning inside him, great rage and power building. He won't let his partner die because those who don't care about their comrades are trash, and he won't let that be his dying thoughts. Die, you piece of garbage.

"Don't let your guard down, Obito."

Obito wiped his face one last time and grabbed a kunai tight. He spun around, his Sharingan finally awakening. He dug the kunai into Taiseki's chest as he turned on his heels.

"Obito, you..." Kakashi gazed at his teammate. He finally found the ability to use his Sharingan!

"H-how...I shouldn't be seen..." Taiseki gasped for air. "Those...those eyes!" Taiseki's body fell lifeless to the limb.

"Now I will protect my companions," Obito declared.

Kokko grabbed Rin's hair tugging her head back to the rock wall. "You're unexpectedly stubborn." Suddenly he heard two pair of footsteps behind him. He turned and saw the two Leaf ninja. "Ugh, everyone is useless!" He rubbed his face in discontent.

Obito gazed at Rin using his Sharingan to peer at her chakra within. "Her chakra flow is disrupted. It's different from ours, Kakashi."

"It must be some form of genjutsu to get information out of her quickly."

"Well, well," Kokko began, "it seems you two are no ordinary brats."

"Watch out, we've already beaten one, but this one seems to have high speed," Kakashi muttered to Obito. He nodded his understanding.

The boys lunged at Kokko, gripping their weapons tight. Kokko revealed a blade hidden under his overly large left sleeve and another one from under his arm wraps on his uncovered right arm. He took off at the ninja and engaged in a fight to the death. He began swinging his arms around taking every open shot he had. Obito saw right through his movements with his Sharingan and blocked his arms by kicking the inside of his elbows, keeping them spread long enough for Kakashi to take the opening and slicing his left jugular. Kokko fell to the ground face first, but the boys didn't check to make sure he was dead. Kakashi and Obito ran to Rin and released her from the genjutsu.

Rin's head snapped up, her eyes grew wide. Quickly she looked up and gazed into her partner's eyes. "Kakashi, Obito!"

"We came to save you, Rin. It's alright now," Obito reassured.

"We need to get out of here fast." Kakashi didn't want anyone else sneaking up on them today.

"Indeed that was a good combination, but you are still just brats. You're in my hands now." Kokko placed his right hand to the ground and suddenly the cave started shaking and boulders started falling from the ceiling.

"Everyone get out of here quickly!" Kakashi yelled over the massive eruption of sound when suddenly he was bashed on his left temple with a rock. The eye that was sliced earlier in the battle against Taiseki keeping him from using his peripherals . He fell unconscious to the ground. Obito grabbed Kakashi's arm and gaped up at a large boulder about to crush them both. He quickly scooped up Kakashi and launched him out of the way of the boulder causing it to land on himself. Kakashi finally came to and looked around at the turmoil.

"Are you okay? Rin...Kakashi..."

Kakashi's breath immediately escaped his lungs when he saw his partner crushed by a boulder. He was barely alive, but he wouldn't make it. Only his left arm and most of his face stuck out from underneath the rock giant.

"Obito!"

"That's enough...Kakashi." He paused. "It looks like it's over for me...my entire right side is crushed...I can't even feel it." He gasped for air, he could feel a collapsed lung. He coughed and blood splashed back onto his face.

"If I had just listened to you to begin with and went with you to rescue Rin, none of this would've happened!" Kakashi slammed his fist against the ground. "What kind of commander...what kind of Jounin-"

"Hey, forget it." Obito smiled with what little he could offer. "I'm...the only one who didn't...give you a present at your Jounin celebration...right...Kakashi?" He coughed again. "What would be good...I was thinking...and now I've come up with it...dont' worry, it's not useless baggage...it's the Sharingan. The people in the village...must think you're a great Jounin. That's how I feel. Please accept it. Rin, with your medical jutsu...take out my Sharingan eye...and implant it...into Kakashi's left eye...I'm already going to die...but this way I can still live...and see the future...by becoming your eye."

Kokko stood outside the collapsed pile of rocks that used to be the cave. A sudden boom exploded from the pile and rocks went flying all around. Kokko spun on his heels and gazed at Kakashi. He couldn't help but grin.

"You're a stubborn one, huh? You're still alive, but you're still a brat." He noticed tears streaming from the boy's left eye. "Shinobi don't cry, I'll break you apart." Kakashi opened his eyes and revealed the red Sharingan. He looks different from before Kokko thought.

Kakashi held up his father's blade and ejected himself into the air. In his descent to Kokko the blade was sliced by Kokko's arm blades. Kakashi paid no heed to his father's weapon being destroyed. He dropped to the ground and immediately signed with his hands. His hand began glowing and lightning shot around in all different directions. Kokko was stunned by the spectacle, but before he could wonder Kakashi dug his chakra encased hand through his heart.

It seems the explosion came from a distant bunker, or what used to be one. Byakko peered down into the nearly filled hole within the ground. Below the rocks lay the black haired shinobi from the trio. Only his left eye was visible. Taisuke lay a mere three feet away. Part of him, at least. His lower body was severed and his upper body carried to the opening to be dumped. This was that demon child's doing, she could smell it. The area

"I can't believe that- that...thing has managed to kill all three of our best ninja." Byakko couldn't help but stare at the boy under the rock. She couldn't look at Taisuke's remains, it was too grotesque.

Aki peered at her sister in bewilderment. "What is this beast you speak of?"

"I swear he's The White Fang. Looks just like him, but smaller, yet just as deadly. He has an ability to summon chakra to his palm and has the speed of The Yellow Flash. They battle side-by-side."

Aki's eyes grew even wider. Byakko witnessed The Yellow Flash and survived. Impossible! "But, you're still alive!"

"What? Of course I'm alive. I didn't battle!"

Aki turned from the scene in front of her. "So what now?"

Byakko gazed up at the darkening sky. "Revenge."

So now you learn why Byakko is such a hateful person, beyond her personality being pretty hard and dark anyway.

Byakko was a character I created a Long time ago and decided to throw her into this village. I began reading a story a friend of mine wrote which followed the manga as mine is. It inspired me to write this just with a big twist. She's evil.
