The Great Escape

Peachy

"Holly"

“I don’t know if I can…” Izzy said, voice filled with doubt.

“Come on. It’s worth a shot,” I said, looking from the windows to Izzy.

I could sense the fear and doubt in Izzy’s mind. She may have the best attitude for a tomboy, but she always coward over anything had to do with heights. “Come on, Izzy,” Bailee said, “Just act like you’re after the white coats. Punch the window just to see if it breaks.”

“And if it doesn’t work?” Izzy asked, looking between the two of us.

“Then it was worth the shot,” I concluded for her, “Come on. Just one time, please?”

“Only if you promise you’ll buy a ticket to the next Breaking Benjamin concert.”

“Fine!” Bailee and I said, rolling our eyes at her.

Izzy set her foot down, and shot off. Come on Izzy, you can do it, I heard Izzy say to herself.

We watched as she left footprints into the wall as she ran up the wall toward the window. Fifty feet seemed to come easy for Izzy, she flew up there quickly. I watched as she jumped on one part, and flew to the opposite side of where she was. She swung her fist at the window. It connected, but nothing broke, instead, her body crashed on it, but the glass didn’t break, and she fell toward the ground. She landed on her feet and onto the ground, dizzy from the impact of the window, “Whoa, whoa, that was too weird.”

She was gasping for breath and Bailee and I flew over to her. “You okay?” I asked, offering a hand.

She nodded, grabbing it, “Just peachy.”

“That won’t work,” An intercom came over us, “This glass is made of special material, so nobody can hear, break, or even attempt to get through.”

The intercom went off, leaving us alone. “Well, shoot,” Izzy sighed.

“Maybe there’s something in the walls we can break?” Bailee asked, walking toward them.

Her hands touched the wall, “Yeah, I can feel the vibrations though them.”

“That’s crazy!” Izzy exclaimed, voice still shaky from her fall.

“Izzy,” I said, “Why don’t you jump around crazy so Bailee can sense which part of the wall is less dense. Maybe there's some sort of button we could push open..."

“I’ll lay on the ground so I can feel and hear better,” Bailee said, going toward the center of the small room.

She laid down, her head up, staring at the ceiling, “Okay, I’m ready.”

“Go ahead, Izzy,” I said.

“On it,” Izzy said, grinning.

She ran around the arena, stomping as hard as she could, jumping off the walls, doing cartwheels, and flips. I watched as Bailee closed her eyes to concentrate. Sure, the things we were doing seemed weird, but it was something that only we could think of. Bailee’s eyes flew open, “Found it!”

I could already hear the answer in her head before she said anything. I went over to a small part of the wall. I touched the wall, and then I saw it. It was like a button. I was sure not even Bailee could see the small circular crack around it from a simple glance. “It’s feint, but I can see it,” Bailee said, her finger resting on the button.

She pressed down, causing the lights went out.
