Dark Dance

This is for the Creative Writing Competition-Fantasy.

Once there was a king who had twelve lovely daughters. Every morning the princesses' shoes were worn completely through, as though they had been using them all night. Baffled, the king made a decree that any man who could solve the mystery of his daughters' ruined shoes would be able to take the princess of his choosing as his bride.

The princesses never expected anyone to discover their precious secret, but they were even less prepared for the darkness that lurked beneath the glimmering polish of their hidden
ballroom...

Disclaimer: I would just like to add, so there is no future confusion, that this is a re-telling of a classic fairytale. The general storyline follows that of the Twelve Dancing Princesses; but all characters and settings within this story belong to my co-writer and myself.
