Last but Not Least

Past and present.

"I'm a bit nervous." Garrett grumbled as they waited in the airport for her brothers to pick them up.

Reagan couldn't help but laugh, "Why?"

"I don't know, I mean, I'm meeting your family and all."

"Well you can handle my brothers so you are golden."

Garrett laughed,"I assume you are right."

"Are you seriously worried about my family not liking you?" She asked with a raised eyebrow and he sighed, "Yeah I mean, it's a big deal."

"Yeah, but I love you so why wouldn't they?"

A grin hit the nervous boy's lips, "Not that simple sometimes."

Before she could respond her name was being yelled and she looked towards the entrance to see Ross, Rian and Ethan.

Reagan smiled actually happy to see them for once in her life. Ethan scooped up the girl first as Ross patted Garrett on the back telling him hello.

"Ok it's my sister." Rian said tugging Ethan off of the girl. Reagan laughed and hugged Rian tightly.

"We've missed you." Rian stated, "We even missed this shy kid." He joked pointing over to Garrett.

Ethan laughed as Garrett rolled his eyes, "I'm not that shy."

"Quiet. Fine." Ethan joked.

Ross stopped in front of Reagan eyeing her like he expected something to be different with her, but came up short handed. Reagan was going to speak, but before she could he pulled her into a brotherly hug. Ross wasn't the type to admit what he felt, but she knew that was his way of saying he was glad she was home.

He gave her a grin as they pulled away and Rian grabbed her bags, "Ok let's go."

She grabbed a hold of Garrett's hand as they made their way out to an SUV which she knew belonged to Ethan's mom. Some things never change.

"So what hotel are you staying at Garrett?" Ross asked and Garrett's eyes went wide causing the other boys to laugh.

"Shut up, Ross!" Reagan said quickly looking at Garrett, "He's kidding."

"Oh am I?"

"Yeah you are. Do you want to be punched?" She asked and Rian laughed from beside her, "Dude, he's staying with her. She's been staying with him for a week. No point in seperating them now."

"Ross, do you want to bunk with me? Is that the issue here?" Garrett asked growing the courage to do so.

Ethan busted out laughing and even Ross who was grasping the steering wheel tightly let out a small chuckle, "No man. Sorry to disappoint you."

The others laughed and Reagan smiled at Garrett. He was fitting right in so far.

"Are you bringing him to dinner tonight?" Rian asked and Reagan rolled her eyes, "No. I brought him here to keep him locked up in my apartment. Yes! He's coming!"

"Ok, ok. Jeez!"

Reagan rolled her eyes once more. Oh how being at home felt the same as before.

Once they arrived at her apartment. The boys said goodbye and that they would see them tonight.

Garrett grabbed their things and she led him to her door as she tried to find her keys.

"Way to be prepared." He joked and she laughed, "Yeah think I left them in Arizona."

"If you did, that is you self-consciously telling yourself you want to live with me in Arizona."

"Oh found them! Darn."

Garrett rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah."

She quickly opened the door and held it open for the boy since he had all the luggage.

"Awe. Isn't this so cute?" He teased about her apartment.

"Shut up."

He laughed, "It looks like I imagine though."

"Thanks I think."

He chuckled as he sat the bags down by wall and he watched her fall onto the couch with a sigh.

"I hate flying."

"It wasn't bad."

"I know, but still."

He chuckled and sat beside her. Her eyes moved to his and he leaned in, kissing her lips softly.

"So I get to spend alone time with you?" He asked bringing his hand to her cheek.

"Scary huh?"

He chuckled, "Going to be weird."

"In a good way?"

He nodded with a smile as he pulled her down onto the couch, "Yeah in a good way."

She chuckled as she buried her face into his shirt as he wrapped his arms around her tightly.

"I love you." She mumbled and he strokekd her hair softly, "Not as much as I love you."

"Do you think we will be ok when you leave?"

"I know we will, sweetie."

"Ok." She whispered relaxing in his arms.

He kissed her head and the girl looked up at him.

"I'll make it work, Rea. I promise. You have nothing to worry about."

The girl nodded and a grin hit his lips, "What time do we have to be at your parents."

"Like around 5."

"Oh so we have a while?"

"Yep."

"Maybe a nap?" He asked and she nodded. He chuckled and moved from the couch as he grabbed her hand.

"Lead the way."

She chuckled and led him to her bedroom. His eyes combed over the room. A smile hit his lips at the sight. It felt like her really. Pictures everywhere and that homey feeling he felt with her. The pair kicked their shoes off and climbed onto the rather large bed. It didn't take them long to fall asleep simply from the long flight.

A few hours later the pair was woke up by someone knocking on the door and she groaned into her pillow.

"I can get it." He mumbled and she sat up slowly, "I will. Some might question if they have the right apartment."

Garrett let out a sleepy laugh, "You're right."

She chuckled before moving from the bed and lazily heading to the door. She yawned before opening the door and she froze once her eyes landed on the person in front of her.

"Phillip?" She managed to get out and the boy spoke, "I heard you were finally home."

She nodded as she immediately crossed her arms and he sighed as he ran his hand through his short blonde hair.

"I miss you, Reagan. I just, feel like we need to talk."

Before she could even respond Garrett came up behind her placing his hand on the door, peering over her.

Phillip's eyes went immediately to the strange boy and Garrett didn't have to ask anything. He could just tell this was someone from her past.

"Garrett, this is Phillip. Phillip, this is Garrett. My boyfriend." She said calmly and Phillip stifled a laugh, "Your boyfriend? Well that explains why you were not at home."

"Right, and who are you?" Garrett asked seriously and Phillip rolled his eyes, "Apparently no one. I'm going to go. Glad you've moved on." He said glaring at the girl and she sighed, "You broke up with me. How am I to blame?!"

"Well I didn't know you'd be on tour and get a boyfriend so quickly! Didn't know you were so desperate!"

With that Garrett stepped in front of the girl an angry expression now on his face.

"You need to leave." Garrett growled and Phillip threw up his hands, "Oh I am." He responded harshly before leaving.

Garrett's eyes met Reagan's instantly and she bit her bottom lip not sure what to say at this point.

"Who the hell was that?" He asked seriously and Reagan pulled him back in so she could shut the door.

"My ex-boyfriend."

"I thought you said it's been a while since you had a boyfriend."

"It has! He broke up with me and before I left we started talking, nothing more. Apparently he thought it was."

Garrett crossed his arms as he stared at the girl.

"I swear." She added not sure what was running through his head exactly. By the looks of it, she would say it wasn't anything fantastic.

"Garrett..."

"I'm just pissed off right now, ok?" He grumbled and she simply nodded.

"Not at you. Just at that prick." He added and she at least felt a bit better now.

"Ok..." She whispered and he sighed running his hand down his cheek.

The pair stood there in silence for what felt like forever to Reagan. Garrett finally breathed in and stepped to her wrapping his arm around her waist.

"It's guys like him that make me hate the fact that I'm going to be miles away from you." He whispered as her eyes met his.

"I can take up for myself."

"Doesn't matter."

He brought his hand to her cheek and she held onto him tightly.

"I love you." She said seriously and he leaned down, kissing her softly, "I love you too."

She pressed her face against his chest and held her to him, "Sorry if I upset you."

"No." She mumbled and he swiftly picked her up, carrying her back to the bed.

He hovered over her, making her have no choice but to look at him.

"I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for."

"I feel like I do. I really wasn't mad at you."

"I know that."

He kissed the corner of her mouth before speaking, "Let's forget that ever happened, ok? I mean, I only have a weekend left with you and I want it to be perfect." He whispered against her lips and she simply nodded already a bit dazed from the closeness of the boy.

"Are you trying to get in my pants, Nickelsen?"

The boy couldn't help but laugh, "Is it working?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Mhm. A little."

The pair laughed and he kissed over her cheek, "I only want what you want. I mean that."

"And what if I want to?" She asked bravely and he drew in a deep breath, "Do you?"

His blue eyes met hers, a nervous look lining them and she managed to grin, "Maybe."

"This makes me really nervous so I need to know."

Reagan laughed, "So you can prepare?"

Garrett managed to laugh, "Yeah! It's a lot of pressure!"

"It's just me!"

"Just you?! You're crazy! That's why it makes me nervous!"

"Shouldn't it be the opposite since you know me?"

Garrett rolled his eyes, "It isn't that simple. I guess it's a guy thing."

"Oh a guy thing?" She teased and he groaned as he rolled off of her and fell onto the pillow.

"Shush. It's complicated I assume."

"I assume so."

He grinned and linked their hands together.

"Let's just let it happen, when it happens."

"Wise words."

Garrett chuckled and gave her hand a squeeze. Now that he had her alone he was more nervous than he imagined. He just didn't want to ruin what they had and that's what was holding him back the most.
