Last but Not Least

In denial.

Reagan debated on the situation as she showered and got ready for the day. She hadn't been done for even 5 minutes before a knock on her door brought her back to reality. She sighed and opened it to see John standing there.

"Tim?! You're going on a date with Tim?!" He said and she shushed him as she pulled him inside by the collar of his shirt. She could only imagine Ross finding out about this.

"Tell me you're joking." He said crossing his arms over his chest.

"It's just a date. What's the big deal?" She asked and he rolled his eyes, "Several reasons, Rea. Ross will snap, Garrett's going to be heart broken and I cannot handle Pat flipping out."

"Why would Garrett be heartbroken?" She asked with a raised eyebrow ignoring the rest of it.

He shook his head, "Don't like him, Rea." He responded ignoring her question.

"John. It's one date! We aren't getting married."

"Still..."

"It will be ok."

He rolled his eyes, "Whatever...I'm telling Ross."

"John! No you're not."

"Oh I am! I'm not going to be caught in the middle of that!"

She glared at him and crossed her arms, "Way to be a jerk."

He shrugged with a smug look on his face before walking out of the room. She didn't understand why it was such a big issue. She sighed as she quickly followed the boy out only to find him already banging on Ross's door.

"John!" She yelled as the door opened and Ross stood there looking at John oddly.

"Your sister has a date with Tim." He spat out and Ross just stared at him as the words processed.

"What? Tim who?" He questioned clearly not believing it was the Tim he knew.

"Tim. Our manager."

"What?!" Ross asked loudly and she groaned instantly.

"That isn't happening." Ross said glaring at Reagan.

"You can't tell me what to do!"

"Right. Then I'm sure Tim would be ok with me kicking his ass."

"I hate you." She mumbled stomping away from the two angrily. She banged on Pat's door and it eventually opened to reveal Garrett with a strange look lining his face, "Hi."

"Hey, is Pat here?" She asked softly and he simply nodded stepping aside.

"Are you ok?" He asked as John entered behind her, "Reagan..."

"Shut the hell up John. Don't talk to me." She snapped and Garrett grew even more confused.

"Oh so you're just going to ignore me?"

"Yeah. Exactly what I'm going to do! Go hang out with your new friend Ross you asshole."

"Whoa, whoa. What happened?!" Pat asked jumping up from the bed and stepping between the two.

"Your brother asked me on a date and he went and told Ross!"

"What?" Garrett got out immediately and she nodded as she crossed her arms.

"Wait. Tim?" Pat questioned.

"Do you have another brother?" She asked shooting him a look and he shrugged, "Just random as hell."

Garrett studied the girl as his mind raced. Tim didn't seem like her type then again what did he know?

"Why did you tell Ross?" Garrett questioned looking at John.

"She doesn't need to date him!"

"Hey what's wrong with my brother?" Pat asked defensively and John rolled his eyes, "Nothing. He's just not her type."

"Well why can't she figure that out on her own?" Garrett asked crossing his arms. Yeah he didn't want her dating anyone but he still couldn't help but defend her.

John rolled his eyes, "Whatever. Doesn't matter now."

Reagan stifled a laugh before leaving the room, the door slamming shut as she did so. John looked over at Garrett, "You want her with Tim?"

"No. But what you did was real shitty."

John rolled his eyes, "He probably just wants in her pants."

"Which won't happen so why cause an issue?" Garrett grumbled before leaving the room. His heart a little heavy from the thought of her dating one of his friends. He was never going to get her. He just needed to accept it.

"Hey you. Where are you headed?" Reagan heard and she spun around to see Garrett walking towards her with a grin on his face. It was quickly replaced once he noticed the flustered state she was still in. He guess he expected her to be use to Ross so this would be nothing.

"Away." She mumbled as he stepped towards her, "Thanks for taking up for me." She added and he grinned, "Someone had to. Don't let them get to you. Do what you want. You're 21. They have no say."

"I know, just aggravates me."

He nodded as if he knew and placed his hands in his pockets, "Let's go get some ice cream and cool you off a bit with another walk. Ok?"

She nodded a grin now on her lips at how cool the boy was acting. It made her relax a bit. He urged her to the elevator and the pair was silent until they reached outside.

"Why are you doing this?" She asked and he glanced over at her, "Just returning the favor from earlier. Despite what you may think Rea, I do not have a problem with you."

"I never said you did."

"Everyone makes it seem that way though."

She shrugged and he held the door open to the ice cream shop he saw on the way back from his hair cut.

"So when are you going out with Tim?" Garrett asked once they were seated with their ice cream.

"Well, it was suppose to be before the show, but I'm here with you so..." She said with a grin causing butterflies to hit his stomach immdiately.

"Oh, you could have said no."

"Nah, I like spending time with you." She said honestly and he had to fight back the blush he felt creeping onto his cheeks. He stared at the ice cream intently simply to avoid her stare.

She watched him curiously, wanting to know what he was thinking. He was always kept to himself and it drove her a bit insane.

"So, what do you think about me dating Tim?" She asked just to break the silence.

Garrett looked up as he shrugged, "Really isn't up to us to decide, Rea. It's whatever you want."

She sighed and placed her chin on the palm of her hand.

"And what about you Garrett? Do you have a girlfriend?"

The boy stifled a laugh, "Nah..."

"Why do you say it like it's an insane idea? I mean as far as I know you could have ten of them. You're so kept to yourself who knows."

Garrett gave her a soft grin as he played with the spoon in his now melted ice cream.

"I'm not like that."

"I know, just saying though. We'd never know!"

The boy chuckled as he shrugged his shoulders.

"See what I mean."

"I don't like to talk about myself." He said rubbing the back of his neck, uncomfortable with the conversation already.

"Would have never guessed." She joked and he grinned as he watched her look back at her almost empty cup of ice cream.

"But just so we're clear, I don't have one girlfriend none the less ten."

Reagan looked up at the blue eyed boy as she let out a small giggle causing him to smile immediately.

"I believe you."

He gave her a nod, "So, feeling better?" He asked changing the subject.

"Yes, ice cream makes everything better."

He chuckled, "Glad I could help."

"Thanks Gar."

"No problem." He whispered and she smiled before standing from the table.

"I believe you promised me a walk." She said and he chuckled climbing from his seat and walking to the trash can.

"Yeah, a walk around a city I know nothing about." He said holding the door open for her so they could leave.

She giggled, "Well then at least we will be in the same boat."

"Right." He responded with a grin as they crossed the street.

The pair ended up spending the rest of the time before the show together which Garrett didn't mind at all even if he barely made it back on time.

"Dude, where have you been?" John asked giving him a serious look. Clearly John was (for once) concerned which made Garrett chuckle, "With Reagan."

"Oh..."

"Oh what? Now it's ok?" Garrett asked with an eyeroll.

"Yeah, didn't expect that..."

Garrett shrugged as he headed to the side of the stage only to see Ross giving Reagan what looked like a stern talk since they were about to go on and she was just showing up.

Reagan rolled her eyes as her brother pointed a finger at her. She had already forgotten what he was saying as Garrett walked over quickly.

"Hey, it really isn't her fault. I talked her into going for a walk and I ended up getting us lost." Garrett interjected giving Reagan an apologetic grin.

"Oh..." Ross said and Garrett nodded, "Yeah, sorry about that."

"Oh, uh, no. It's ok man." He said patting Garrett's shoulder before hopping back over to his guitar.

"I swear, only you." She mumbled and he let out a laugh, "He likes me. I can't help it."

"Go we're about to go on." She said with a smile and he grinned before sprinting off the stage. Reagan let out a sigh and her eyes focused on Rian who was giving her a smirk from his drum set.

"She likes him." Ethan called out from his microphone stand and she groaned as she grabbed up her bass, "Do not. Now shut up so we can play."

The boys laughed as the curtain came up and Reagan tried to focus on playing although her mind couldn't help but wonder to Garrett who was standing on the side of the stage. She didn't have to look over at him to feel his presense. Maybe she did like him. Would that be such a bad thing?

Once they were done playing Reagan ran off the stage happily and Garrett flashed her a smile simply because he knew how she was feeling and he himself couldn't wait to get out there and play now.

"Good job little Davenport." John said patting her head causing her to roll her eyes, she still wasn't talking to him. She then quickly headed to the dressing room to change but not before flashing another look at Garrett. It was hopeless. Once the girl was cleaned up she stood beside Ethan as The Maine began to play.

"So, do you like him or what?" The boy asked not holding back which she should have been use to by now.

"Who?"

"Dont play dumb. Garrett."

Reagan crossed her arms as she watched the boy in question smile at some girl who yelled his name.

"I don't know."

Ethan rolled his eyes, "Oh whatever."

"Shut up." She grumbled as Rian appeared, "Reagan likes Garrett. Reagan likes Garrett." He repeated and she elbowed him causing him to groan as he held his side.

She shot him a look as Ethan snickered. The boys were playing but Garrett was close enough to look their way with a concerned look causing Reagan to roll her eyes. Ethan waved at the boy who just chuckled and turned back to the microphone.

"Oh yeah. He likes you." Ethan said confidently and Reagan ignored the boy as she watched John sing. Although it made her nervous she sort of hoped he felt something, if anything for her.
