Last but Not Least

Home is where the heart is.

Garrett was excited to say the least.

He could tell he was home as soon as they entered Arizona. The air smelled like home to him and his body immediately relaxed to the sun warming his body as he stepped from the bus. He knew the smile on his face would be there for a while.

"I swear there is no better feeling then coming home." John said inhaling deeply as they got into the van that would drive them home.

Reagan chuckled as she climbed in the back next to Ross. Tim had insisted they crash at his house since he had enough space for the 4 of them which Reagan and Ross seemed hesitant about, but the thought of being in a hotel room was less appealing.

"So be here tonight by 6." John said glancing at his phone as he hopped from the van. The day hadn't even reached noon so he figured that was enough time.

The boys mumbled an ok and John sprinted into his home. One by one Tim dropped the guys off and once at Garrett's (who still lived with his parents. Which Olivia found amusing that they all did minus Tim.) Garrett grew even more excited, "So see you tonight?" He asked his blue eyes brighter than usual as he looked over the seat at Reagan.

"Of course. Where else would I be?"

"Getting lost?" He joked and she rolled her eyes, "Ha, ha. Go."

He smiled and waved goodbye as he headed into his house knowing his family was waiting. Ross shot her a look and she groaned, "What?"

"You two are meant to be." Rian answered for him and she rolled her eyes, "Whatever."

Rian chuckled as she crossed her arms and they drove the short distance to Tim's place. Tim showed everyone where they would be sleeping and for once Reagan was grateful to be sharing a room with Ross who declared it would be no other way.

"I actually appreciate it this time." She chuckled as she shut their bedroom door.

"Yeah, I know. I don't trust that kid." Ross grumbled falling onto one of the beds his hands placed behind his head.

"I'd hate to have to break his hands off while rooming here." He added and she rolled her eyes as she sat on the bed.

"So I say nap, then we can get up with plenty of time for you to doll up for little Nickelsen." He said with a smirk.

"I hate you."

Ross immediately laughed, "What? I think it's adorable. His nerdy way of flirting is your nerdy way of flirting. It's like an episode of The Big Bang Theory."

"It is not that nerdy! If at all!"

"Either way. I like the kid. I think you should give him a shot. He's a good guy."

"I never said I like him!"

"Oh, you do. I can tell."

"Shut up. Take a nap." She grumbled lying on the bed and he laughed, "We will see huh?"

She ignored him and the two fell asleep moments later. Before she knew it she was being shook by Ross telling her she needed to get up and get ready if she was planning on going to John's with them. She grumbled to herself as she sat up and he left her once she did so. Reagan forced herself to get ready. By the time she walked into the living room all the guys were waiting on her.

"Finally!" Tim joked and she rolled her eyes, "Well come on!"

"Bossy."

She shook her head as she followed the boys to Tim's car.

"Your parents coming?" Reagan asked Tim once they began their drive.

"Yep."

"Good. Need to tell them how lucky they are to have a son like Pat."

Ross chuckled from beside her and she smiled as Tim defended himself, "What?! I know that's a joke!"

She chuckled as they pulled up at John's. She instantly grew a bit nervous. She wasn't good being around people she didn't know. Playing a show in front of them was different then having to socialize with strangers.

She linked arms with Ethan as they followed Tim to the door who didn't bother to knock. Once they walked in Pat met them eagerly which eased her a bit.

"Finally!" He said grabbing her hand and she laughed as he pulled her through the house and into the back yard where everyone seemed to be. The pool was filled with children and a few guys she didn't know were grilling as everyone chatted.

Her eyes landed on John who was laughing with some boy she hadn't met, but could guess was his brother by the way he looked. She still hadn't talked to him since the whole Tim ordeal and she didn't know what to do to fix it.

She never was good at situations like that.

Her eyes scanned the people to find the one person she knew would talk to her; Garrett. A smile hit her lips once she found him crouched down talking to a girl who looked around the age of 3. The girl giggled and Garrett grabbed her up, spinning her around her laughter filling the air along with his own.

"Don't worry. That's not his. It's his niece."

Reagan looked over to see an older woman with a smile on her face as she watched Garrett and the child.

Reagan laughed, "She's cute."

"Lilly is her name. She's a mess, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. I'm Deana by the way. Garrett's mom." The women said nicely offering her a smile.

"Oh, should have guessed that. He has your eyes. I'm Reagan. Nice to meet you."

Deana let out a laugh, "Yeah he hates hearing that. So you're the infamous Reagan?"

"Uh...maybe?"

The woman laughed once more, "Oh nothing bad. You are definitely as pretty as he talked you up to be." She responded causing Reagan to blush immediately. Before anything else could be said Garrett rushed over realizing the woman chatting up Reagan was his mother. That was never a good thing for him. Just pure embarrassment was bound to come from it.

"And what are you chatting up about?" He asked shooting a warning with his eyes to his mother.

"Oh nothing really. Here I'll take her." She responded smiling as she grabbed the child from the boy.

"Don't tell me what she said. Really." Garrett mumbled once she walked away causing Reagan to laugh, "I won't, but apparently I am as pretty as you talked me up to be so way to go."

Garrett's face turned bright red and he rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably. All Reagan could do was laugh.

"I just, yeah I don't know what to say to that..."

She chuckled, "Well, I'll change subjects..."

"Great."

"So I haven't talked to John since that Tim thing happened."

"Right, I noticed."

"I don't handle things like that well. I mean, I shouldn't apologize. I did nothing wrong."

"Yeah, I think he will. He feels bad. He told me." Garrett responded leaning against the railing of the porch.

She sighed and followed suite, "You're mom is sweet."

"No, she embarrasses me..."

She chuckled, "It's cute."

"Is not."

"What's also cute is Lilly."

A grin hit Garrett's lips, "Now that is very true. She's perfect. I may be bias, but you know...that's my girl." He said placing his hand over his heart and Reagan laughed, "Yeah, not going to lie, was the cutest thing ever."

"What was?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"You playing with her."

Garrett's eyes diverted to his feet trying to keep the blush from showing this time.

"So are you going to survive staying at Tim's?" He asked diverting the attention off him.

"Ross is rooming with me."

"Oh so you're a-okay."

She laughed, "Hopefully."

"You could always stay with me if you'd like. We have an extra room and well, my mother seems to like you and all...and you know, you like bunking with me so..." He joked, a smile hitting his lips.

She grinned, "True..."

"Plus Tim isn't here so nothing would get you at night."

She couldn't help but giggle and Garrett smiled, "Want me to ask Ross if you can have a slumber party with me?" He teased and she smiled, "Sure. Why not?"

He grabbed up her hand and pulled her inside on a mission to find the boy in question. Ross really didn't scare him. He assumed because the guy had never been anything but nice to him.

"There you are." He stated once he found Ross and Kennedy in the kitchen nursing beers.

"Yes, here I am." Ross said chuckling.

"I got to find Jared. He asked me for this 20 minutes ago." Kennedy said holding up a closed beer bottle. Ross nodded and Kennedy fled from the kitchen.

"What's up?" Ross asked leaning against the counter his dark eyes landing on Garrett.

"Do you care if Rea stays with me instead of at Tim's?" Garrett asked and Ross chuckled, "I mean she's 21. I don't care."

"Bullshit." Reagan mumbled.

Ross rolled his eyes at his sisters remark, "See, it's different if it's Garrett. He's respectable. The fact that he has the guts to come ask me makes me respect him, therefore I don't care."

"Just ridiculous..."

Garrett chuckled, "How so?"

She shook her head and Ross patted her shoulder, "Now anything else children?"

"Nope." Garrett responded and Ross flashed them a smile before leaving.

"Well we mind as well get married now, because you'll probably be the only guy Ross will ever like."

Garrett chuckled and tugged on her hand, "Let's go back outside. You need to talk to John..."

"No." She whined and he nodded as they stepped outside.

"Yeah."

She sighed as her eyes found John who stood with his sunglasses on talking to someone she didn't know.

"Can't we just go play with Lilly?" She asked and he chuckled, "Although that sounds more fun, afraid not."

"Please?" She asked with a pout as she grabbed a hold of his arm.

"Do you always get your way?" He asked and she shook her head no, "My brother is Ross remember? So no."

He chuckled sliding his free arm around her waist, "Fine. You convinced me. Come on. Let's fine Lilly and you can meet my brother."

"Oh, the may be cuter than you one?" She teased and he chuckled, "Yes. That one. Come on."

She laughed linking her fingers with his as he pulled her inside. The pair could hear Lilly laughing from the living room and a smile hit Garrett's lips as his lead her towards the sound.

"Garrett!" The little girl shouted causing Reagan to laugh because it sounded more like 'Garwit.'

"Hey you." He said smiling, dropping Reagan's hand and scooping up the child who's arms were raised waiting for him to do so.

"Daddy said when I turn 4 you won't be here." The girl said seriously and he brushed her brown curls from her face. The small girl's birthday was next week and he hated that he would miss it.

"I won't. I'm sorry. But you will be getting a huge surprise from me!"

"A present?!"

Garrett nodded with a smile as the guy on the floor chuckled standing up quickly.

"And yet they say I spoil her."

Reagan laughed and the boy smiled, "Excuse my rude brother. I'm Trey."

"Reagan. Nice to finally meet you."

Trey groaned, "That's never good to hear."

Reagan giggled, "Nothing bad I swear."

"Surprising."

Garrett shot him a look, "Oh whatever. Where is Taylor?"

"Who knows." He grumbled and Garrett rolled his eyes placing Lilly back on her feet. Of course Reagan didn't bother to ask who Taylor was, clearly it was easy to figure out.

"Will you watch her so I can run to the bathroom?"

Garrett nodded and Trey sprinted up the stairs.

"So?" Garrett asked crossing his arms with an amused grin on his face.

"So what?"

"Who's cuter?!"

Reagan laughed, "You are." She spoke patting his cheek before sitting beside Lilly on the floor. Garrett had a cheesy grin on his lips from her words alone. Well, that definitely helped him feel some what better about his crush on her.

He quietly watched Lilly make Reagan hold her baby doll and he couldn't help but smile. It just felt right having her around his family, in his home, near him. How did he convince her it feel that way for her too?
