Counting the Stars

Time to give them what they're waiting for

Another week had gone by, with four shows happening in those seven days. Each crowd was crazier than the last. The feeling of walking out on the stage and playing your heart out in front of thousands and thousands of fans was a feeling I would never get used to. My heart would pound loudly in my chest and I would bounce up and down out of excitement. Playing shows in front of huge crowds was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Each night was something new to look forward to, which was something I hadn’t experienced before. Back in California my life was extremely uneventful. I would wake up, eat, and then sit on my laptop and reblog pictures on tumblr. My only friend had been Caroline, so I never hung out with people. Each day was the same thing so I never experienced what it was like to be excited about something. Now that had completely changed. Each morning when I would wake up I was already practically bouncing in my bed with excitement.

Today was one of our few days off and we were spending it in Florida. We had a show last night and we have one tomorrow, but we were fortunate to get the day off today. Eleanor and Danielle were hanging out with Louis and Liam, Harry was going golfing like the old man he is, which left me with Zayn and Niall. Jon, Sandy, and Dan were all at a local recording studio running some tracks for the new album. Since I was only a temporary drummer, I wasn’t needed.

“I’m so bored… Can we do something with our day off?” I asked, sighing loudly in boredom. I flopped next to Zayn on his bed.

“Go entertain yourself, Kyle. All I want to do is sleep and never wake up,” Zayn mumbled, pulling the pillow over his head.

I sighed, “You are so boring! I want to do something!”

Zayn completely ignored me, keeping the pillow over his face. I poked him in the side a few times to which he swatted my hand away. We only had one day off to do something and he wanted to sleep. This wasn’t okay with me.

“Fine! If you’re sleeping, I’m going to Disneyworld by myself,” I huffed, standing up.

“DID SOMEONE SAY DISNEYWORLD?” Niall asked, running into the room quickly.

I grinned, “Yes I did. Do you want to come?”

Niall agreed eagerly, expressing his thoughts on how Disneyworld had the best food in the whole world, besides Nando’s. We split off to go get ready, agreeing to meet in the lobby in half an hour. Niall had called Paul and told him of our plans. Paul had agreed to let us go, telling us as long as we kept it on the down low we could go without a security guard.

Thirty minutes later I was dressed and ready to go. If I had ever taken the time to create a bucket list, going to Disneyworld would be one of the top ten things on the list. So our impromptu trip was exciting to me. I made my way down to the lobby, skipping the elevator and bounding down the stairs two at a time.

My phone began to sing, reminding me that I had a text message. I pulled my phone out to see I had a message from Caroline.

What are you doing with your day off today?

I typed a quick response, sending it once I got to the lobby, ‘Going to Disney with Niall

I didn’t think into why Caroline was asking me a question when she was all the way in California, it didn’t seem important. Niall was waiting in the lobby of the hotel when I arrived, his arms crossed over his chest. He was looking up at the ceiling and tapping his foot. Like always, he looked attractive. It was hard to not just stop and stare at him. That wouldn’t fly and would end awkwardly.

“KYLE! Are you ready to go hang out with some pedophiles in costumes?” He asked, smiling brightly.

I chuckled, “If they were pedophiles, I don’t think they would have gotten a job with Disney.”

He shrugged, “Any person that will voluntarily stand in this heat in that thick of a costume has to be crazy or a pedophile. I’m going with pedophile.”

We joked around the entire ride to Disneyworld. Paul had set up a driver to drive us the half an hour all the way to Disney. Florida was truly a beautiful place. Had I not been involved in a conversation with Niall, I would have been perfectly content staring out the window and watching the scenery as we drove by. Every once and a while Niall would point out a place that was familiar to him from the first time they had been here.

Once the driver pulled into a parking spot in the Disneyworld parking garage, Niall and I had both jumped out before the car was completely parked. The excitement running through my body was how I felt before going on stage each night times ten. Coming here was something I had wanted to do since I was a young girl, so I didn’t even care that I looked like a freak bouncing around.

As Niall and I were walking up to Disneyworld, my phone sang again letting me know I had another text. Pulling out my phone, I saw I had yet another text from Caroline.

Guess who’s at Disneyworld???

I laughed at her stupidity, ‘Me silly!

She had replied almost immediately, ‘AND ME! Look for me at the front entrances! I can’t wait to see my best friend!!!

My heart sunk immediately. Within ten seconds my mood went from excited to upset. Sure, I was excited that my best friend flew out from Florida to see me, but I knew this wouldn’t end well. Niall practically fawned over her, hanging onto and paying attention to every word I said about her. One of the reasons I was so excited for today was to spend it with Niall. Within the past week my feelings for Niall went from school girl giddy to serious feelings. I didn’t want it to happen, but the more time I spent with him and the more Eleanor and Danielle convinced me we were perfect for each other, it just happened.

“KYLE!” Caroline shrieked. I could hear her voice from ten miles away it was so distinct. She ran up to me and jumped on top of me, hugging me like crazy.

“Uh.. Kyle?” Niall asked, looking at me with a weird expression.

Caroline jumped off me and turned to Niall, hugging him tightly, “Oh, I’m so rude. Excuse me. Hello, I’m Caroline. Kyle’s ex turned best friend. It’s wonderful to meet the guy who is trying to oust me for the position of BFF.”

Niall’s mouth dropped, his chin practically on the ground. He hugged her back, holding onto her longer than I would have liked, “I’m Niall. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t even dare taking your spot.”

They began to joke around with each other immediately, much like how Niall and I had the car ride here. They walked up to the entrance together, standing extremely close. I trailed a few steps behind them, not even bothering to interrupt their “moment.” We hadn’t even made it into the park and my mood had already taken a sour twist. The way they automatically clicked and talked like they had known each other for years instead of minutes sickened me.

The rest of the day had continued on like so. Niall and Caroline walked next to each other, joking and laughing at everything they said and me trailing behind them. Whenever we’d go on a ride, they’d sit next to each other and I would sit next to some stranger who I didn’t even know just so the workers could fit as many people as possible on the ride.

When we stopped for lunch, they sat next to each other with their legs practically touching. They ordered the same meal AND Niall even shared some of his food with Caroline. Niall never shares food. Ever. Naturally this pissed me off even more. I had told Caroline how I felt about Niall. But the hell with my feelings, right? It didn’t matter because I was a “guy” so I didn’t stand a chance.

I stood up from the table, sickened by their already coupley behavior, “Excuse me. I’ll be back.”

I walked out of the restaurant and headed towards the direction of the restrooms. I didn’t go into them, because using the guy restroom was really awkward for me, so I never used public ones. Instead I stood outside of them and pulled out my phone, dialing Eleanor’s number. Since she was spending the rest of the tour with us, she bought a cheap pre-paid phone to use while in the States.

“Hey ‘Lista, what’s up?” She asked, answering the phone after three rings.

“Caroline decided to show up and come to Disney with Niall and I. So while I’m sitting outside of the bathroom fighting back tears, those two are practically eye fucking each other at the lunch table,” I explained, my voice my normal girl one.

“WHAT?” She screeched, causing me to pull my phone away from my ear.

I sighed, “My lovely best friend decided to show up and her and Niall are flirting up a storm.”

“Hell no… HELL NO! Didn’t you tell her that you liked him? She doesn’t get to prance in and steal him away from you. I knew I didn’t like her from the minute Niall’s face lit up when you talked about her. Doesn’t she understand chick before dicks?” Eleanor ranted. You could tell by the way her words came out in her rushed British accent that she was pissed.

I couldn’t help but laugh at her response, I didn’t expect anything less from her. “I wish she did. Now I’m going to go back to the dinner table and watch as they undress each other with their eyes. We’ll finish our day at Disneyworld and when we go back to our hotel, instead of Caroline coming back to my room to talk about all that she’s missed while I was gone, those two will go hook up in Niall’s. Then I can sit in the shower and cry my fucking eyes out because I have shit luck.”

“Oh, ‘Lista. It’s going to be alright. We’ll figure something out and make sure he knows he’s a bloody idiot. Try to enjoy the rest of your day at the Happiest Place on Earth. You deserve it.”

“Thanks El, you’re the best.”

“Anytime, see ya later.” She hung up after I said goodbye.

Reluctantly, I walked back to the table. Caroline had the biggest smile on her face as Niall shoved a ketchup covered French fry into her mouth. I mentally gagged at the sight. I put on the best happy face I could manage and sat back down across from them.

“Welcome back, Ky,” Niall grinned, feeding Caroline another French fry.

I skipped directly to the point, “I’m going to take a cab back to the hotel. My food didn’t sit well in my stomach so I’m not feeling well. Enjoy the rest of your day, you two.”

I stood back up and walked away, fighting the tears that were sure to come. What made it even worse was neither of them tried to protest or even say goodbye. They continued to act all cute and lovey dovey. It sickened me that my best friend would turn on me that quickly. I smirked, an idea instantly forming in my head. I turned around quickly and pulled out my phone, snapping a picture of the two when their faces were dangerously close together.

Once I got back to the hotel room, I made a new Twitter under the name of Melissa. I set all of my info to make it seem like I was the typical One Direction fangirl. After I made sure everything looked convincing, I found a ton of One Direction update accounts and major fans and sent them each the same tweet.

OMG! I was at Disneyworld today and saw Niall with this girl! Who is she?’ And attached to each tweet was the picture I had taken.

If Caroline was going to swoop in and take Niall from me, I knew one thing was for sure. It took two to tango, and boy was I ready to dance.

Okay, so I absolutely love this chapter. I just wrote it all up within the last hour and I've been maniacally laughing the entire time I typed it up.

Predictions? Comments? Thoughts?

I'd love to know.

If you're good with coding, can you help a girl out? I can't figure out italics.... *embarrassed face*
