Forever Kidnapped

prologue

I sat on the roof, a jacket placed over my shoulders and my earbuds blasting music into my ears. I occasionally came up here when I needed to think, this was the only place where I wouldn't be bothered. It was always peaceful outside, even though I only hear the loud sound coming from my iPod, I could tell that it wasn't that chaotic in this neighborhood. All you could really hear was the sound of dogs barking and birds singing their melodies. England wasn't always so warm, though. Like right now, it was chilly.

The wind blew my brown hair back, my face getting bit by the coldness. I didn't care that much, I loved it here, for the most part anyway. I looked down, the world below was deserted. I saw movement in my peripheral vision, my head quickly moved, staring down at the man walking on the sidewalk. He didn't look that old, around eighteen or nineteen, maybe.

His hair was as black as night, it blew carelessly in the wind. His gaze met mine, I couldn't tell his eye color, but feeling embarrassed because I got caught staring, I looked away. He was probably laughing at me, finding my humiliation entertaining. When I looked down again, he was standing in front of my house, staring up at me. A crooked smile placed his lips.

I felt drawn to him. I found myself climbing down the ladder from the roof, once I was safely on the ground, I made my way over to him. I turned my iPod off, pulling my earplugs from my ears. He watched my movements, still smiling. Once I was in front of him, I had my music player in the pocket of my jacket.

"Hello," I greeted, fixing my hair. He didn't say anything at first, he just watched me closely. I bit my lip, a little uncomfortable under his gaze.

"Hello to you, as well." He replied, his voice deep and husky. I thought I heard a hint of an accent somewhere, but I couldn't make it out. It almost made me melt, but I tried desperately to control my actions.

"Who are you, exactly?" I asked, furrowing my brows, "And why are you standing in front of my house? " I added, staring at him, wanting an answer.

He chuckled, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm new here, I was walking around, I just moved from France." He replied, his eyes never leaving mine. I don't even think he blinked.

"Oh, I see." He nodded, raising an eyebrow. I rubbed my nose, the cold making it numb. I sniffled, looking around, trying to find something to talk about.

But he beat me to the punch. "Would you like to be my tour guide? I need someone to show me around." He said, smiling that crooked smile of his. I instantly nodded, following after him as we made our way further from my house. I had no idea what I was about to get myself into.
