Melodies

The most amazing feeling in the world was Kell against my chest, both of us covered in a ridiculous amount of blankets. I wasn't sure if he was asleep or not, until he turned to face me and whispered my name.

It was too dark to see him, so I couldn't read his face. It was slightly disconcerting.

"Yeah?"

"I can't sleep."

I smiled at him, even though I knew he wouldn't be able to see. "Me either."

He giggled softly. "But you can always sleep. No matter what time it is or where you are."

"Well, not right now."

"Why not?"

"I don't know. I'm just not tired. I'm too excited about being out of school, still."

He laughed again. "You're funny."

There was a comfortable silence before he spoke again. "I signed up for a solo/ensemble thing in February. I have a solo ready for it, but it would be kind of cool to do a duet, too."

I groaned, leaning our foreheads together. "Are we at least getting judged this time?"

"Yes. And we can even use the same song, so it won't be a big deal or anything. I kind of just wanted something else to put down on my college applications."

I smirked and pulled him close to me. "Always planning ahead."

"Well, yeah."

I kissed him. "Okay, we'll do the duet."
