The Art of Illusion

My love for you was like Narcissus and his reflection,
within you I saw the innocence to my sin.
I only ever wanted to admire your perfection.
You were my kindred soul, my twin,
in you I felt safest, as we were not one,
but two beings reaching a deeper meaning...
However, when you were done,
you left me broken and kneeling...
Crying out for forgiveness,
Receiving only rejection,
Confined to a life so loveless...
A lonely soul craving protection.

My life is now but a shell of what I wanted it to become,
I am a master in the art of illusion.

Disclaimer The poem is my own creation, no stealing.

Deception is a skill, but no one can hide from the feelings within. When you become what society believes is right and deny yourself what you really want, you could potentially lose everything that you hold dear.
