Merely the Shadow of a Dream

Boys will be boys
And steal girls' hearts
But some can't seem to finish
Whatever they start.

They flirt and they flee,
They trip, so you fall.
They make you believe
That they want nothing at all.

Their jokes make you laugh.
Their quirks make you smile.
Any girl would hope
He'd stay a little while.

Happy endings don't exist
But fairytales are real.
They express what we think,
Reveal what we feel.

So here's my fairytale.
It's not all it seems.
I'm not Sleeping Beauty,
But that boy was a dream.
