The "You're Not Fat" Campaign

Skinny Sister

Meg is sitting across from me at the dinner table. I try not to stare at her skinny wrists as she reaches for the bowl of mashed potatoes. My fingers obsessively trace my collarbones. Meg's collarbones stick out much more than mine do.

Meg is tall and slender and gorgous and three years younger than me. Her auburn hair is shiny and straight, her eyes huge and golden-brown. She got our parents's best traits - Dad's tall, stick insect build, and Mom's gorgeous hair and eyes. I got the reverse. Dad's hair and eyes, Mom's build.

I chew my piece of lettuce slowly, grinding it to a paste between my teeth. I want to look like my skinny little sister.
