“Kat wake up!” Melanie shook the soundly sleeping Kathrin until her eyes opened. “James posted the positions for the Quidditch team!”

“And…” Kathrin replied sitting up and rubbing her eyes.

Melanie looked like she was about to say something but stopped again. “I didn’t actually check if it said your name…”

Kathrin laughed as she got out of bed and grabbed her uniform. “I’ll be out in a second.”

When Kathrin walked down the steps into the common room, there was a small crowd gathered in front of the Gryffindor bulletin board. Sirius, who was one of the few people in the room who wasn’t in the crowd, looked up from his Daily Prophet.

“Congratulations kitty Kat!” He smirked. “Not that it’s a big surprise.”

“Of course it’s not a surprise!” Judy said looking away from the board. “They’re siblings!”

“James isn’t that shallow.” Lily admitted. “Besides I saw her play. She’s really good.”

“Don’t be jealous because she’s got more talent than you.” Sirius smirked and looked back at his paper. Kathrin stood there awkwardly looking at the two. Sirius was sitting there with a smile on his face knowing he annoyed the girl, and Judy glared with her hand on her hip ready to attack him. “Well it’s true.”

“How dare-“

“Okay things are getting a little too tense.” Lily protested trying to stop the bickering.

“I’m going to eat…” Kathrin said practically running out of the common room.

Kathrin enjoyed her food and was happy that it was Saturday. During breakfast a bunch of people congratulated her for making the team. Some of them looked at her suspiciously though. Rengine assured her that after the first game people would stop questioning it. It didn’t matter though, Kathrin knew she was a good flyer and a good chaser; everyone else could think what they wanted.
It was only a matter of time until Michael found out Kat made the team. He walked up to the table with Jonah Andrews.

“C-congratulations Kathrin” Jonah said nervously with Michael behind him.

“Yeah congratulations, you just guaranteed Slytherin a win.” Michael blurted. The Gryffindor’s within an earshot of him all looked and glared. Jonah looked a bit embarrassed to be seen with Michael.
Kathrin always thought Jonah could have better friends. To be honest she didn’t understand how Jonah was even just into Slytherin.

“In your dreams” Peter said spreading cheese on his toast.

“Want to fight about it shorty?”

“Go away Michael” Kathrin demanded. Michael glared at her. “Your voice is annoying. What? It’s a fact.”

“I’m leaving because you’re boring me, not because you said that.”



After Kathrin’s classes she was relieved to hang out in the common room. She collapsed onto the couch and sunk right in. It was only one more week until the Hogsmeade trip. All she wanted to do is buy a pound of candy and eat it all. She was planning on having a girls’ trip with Melanie and Sydney, but Tyler Dalton asked Syd to go with him. So instead they decided to have a fun trip with Kathrin, Melanie and the Walker twins.

Kathrin had only sat down for a minute before James grabbed her and pulled her into a quiet area in the common room. He looked extremely excited about something. “James I already know I’m on the Quidditch team!”

“Don’t tell mom and dad I got a girlfriend!”

“Wait what?”

“Yeah Lily finally agreed to go out with me. She told me not to pull any pranks… but I think she’ll loosen up over time. I know she thinks their funny, she just pretends they aren’t because she’s a prefect. I mean did you see her laugh when you charmed those benches? That was pretty funny though-“

“James you’re doing that thing where you don’t stop talking.”

“Oh am I? I got to go tell the guys. See you later.”

“Bye…”

Kathrin retreated back to her couch rubbing her abused wrist. She couldn’t help but smile though. James had been crushing on Lily for years. It was good for Lily to actually give him a chance. James could be really sweet and sensitive… when he wanted to me.

Soon enough everyone in the school heard about the new power couple. It was pretty big news. Everyone knew about James’ confessed love for Lily Evans. Lily herself seemed pretty cheery about it all. Kat couldn’t help but think that Lily actually enjoyed keeping an eye on James when he went to get into trouble.



Kathrin stayed up pretty late that night talking to Rengine about their Hogsmeade trip. Melanie went to finish an essay so she wasn’t there to tell Kathrin to go to bed. Sirius joined them later and talked about his Hogsmeade plans for a bit. Weird enough it was Sirius who suggested for Kathrin to go to sleep.

She wasn’t quite ready to sleep yet. So she pulled out a book and read for a bit. Kathrin felt like she read for ten minutes, but it had actually been two hours. She was about to put everything away and go to sleep when she heard some footsteps.

‘Who could be out this late?’ Kat thought to herself.

She crept down the stairs quietly. When she reached the bottom she peered into the common room. A slightly stressed Lily Evans, dressed for an adventure, muttered to herself angrily. Kathrin couldn’t help but wonder what could make Lily that mad. Then it dawned on her. James.

“Lily, where are you going?” Kathrin asked stepping into view.

“Your idiot brother went into the forest!”

“Wait, do you mean the forbidden one?”

“Yes Kathrin… that’s the only forest.”

Lily started to walk out of the common room. Kathrin couldn’t believe it. James may do stupid things, but he wasn’t that stupid. Going into the forbidden forest, especially at night, was insane. Kathrin quickly caught up to Lily.

“Go back inside”

“No he’s my brother! Lily going after him is stupid. You could get hurt.”

“He told me he wouldn’t get himself into trouble! This is trouble!”

The two were trying to whisper but it got harder and harder. Kathrin kept trying to get Lily to retreat but Lily was determined. They finally made it to the forest’s edge. Kat was desperate and even tried pulling Lily back to the castle.

“I’m not leaving until I find out what those boys’ are up to!”

“Lily come back!” Kathrin cried running into the forest after her, with the full moon lighting her way.
