No Such Thing as Too Young

You Hold My Attention Without Ever Trying

It's been two weeks since Tony and I kissed again. June had turned into a hot July and summer was a little more than half way over. Things didn't progress really, we had only kissed twice since then and neither were anything special. Just as small, and innocent as the others. I subtly adjusted my dress as I walked down the streets of San Diego to meet Taylor for coffee. I walked into the cool shop, spotting her at a small table near the window. I smiled and walked over. She stood and hugged me. "Hey babe" I said sitting down, noticing a drink for me on the table already. "Hey" she giggled. "How are things?" I asked her taking a sip of my iced coffee. "Guess who went to the school, talked to her counselor and can graduate a year early!" She pretty much shrieked. I smiled, taking in her excitement. "Tay, that's great!" I reached across the table to hug her. "My grades are good enough, I have enough credits, so this time next year I will be signing up for college classes. I am just so. Ugh, thrilled. I am so over high school its ridiculous" She told me laughing. I laughed along with her, "I know exactly what you mean, I am so over the drama, the people, the classes. I just want to get on with my life." I told her, running my fingers through my hair. She gave me a sympathy smile, "I am over the stupid, petty drama. Although Vic is twenty, and yet he is still making things way more complicated than they should be between he and I" She said sighing. I let out a light laugh. "What is it with those boys, and never knowing what they want. But what happened?" I question her, staring out the window, watching people go down the street. Mothers, teen girls, couples. "We made out that night at Ashley's lake house, and a few times since then. I told him how I felt the other night, and he got all weirded out and left my house. What if he was just using me Shay?" she asked, sadness filling her eyes. I shook my head. "I doubt he would just use you Taylor. I'll talk to him about it okay? Vic just isn't the kind of guy to fuck with your emotions like that. I'm sorry though Hun" I told her, giving her a small smile to assure her I would work it all out for her. She nodded. "Thanks." She told me, smiling. I looked outside once more. I saw a familiar couple holding hands across the street, coming out a small diner. My heart dropped as I realized just why they looked so familiar to me. It was Tony and Stephanie. I watched as he leaned down, pressing his lips to hers, bringing his hand to her check. Tears threatened to spill down my face. "What is it?" Taylor asked, looking over to where I was. "That fucker really took her back after everything she did to him!?" she raised her voice. I shook my head, wiping the tears, praying more wouldn't fall. "He can do as he pleases. I'm sorry Tay, but I gotta go. I'm gonna go meet up with Vic or something. I'll call you later" I promised her, standing to leave. I rushed out the door, hoping Tony didn't see me. As I walked down the street, I called Vic.
"Hello?" The smooth voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Vic, can you please come get me?" I whimpered out.
"Where are you Shay?" He asked, his voice full of concern.
"The bench outside of the little art store on the corner downtown. Please, just come get me" I cried.

I sat on Vic's couch, fiddling with the fingers. I had stopped crying, but my heart still felt heavy. Vic handed me a glass of water, and sat next to me, turning his body to face mine. "Ready to talk about what happened? He asked me, a concerned look upon his face. I ran fingers through my dark hair, looking into Vic's eyes. "You can't tell anyone Vic. I mean it" I told him seriously, taking a sip of my water, before placing it on the coffee table. "Shay you're worrying me. I mean come on, it can't be that bad" He told me. I shook my head, and looked down at my hands again. "There has been something going on with Tony and I...Sorta...." I whispered out, biting down on my bottom lip. "What do you mean Shay?" He asked, turning more towards me. "You know what I mean Vic!" I threw my hands up in the air, tears threatening to fall once again. "No Shay, I don't. Did you sleep with him?" He asked frustrated. I shook my head, letting the tears spill over. "What? No. Of course not. It was nothing more than a few kisses I swear." I told him, wiping my eyes viciously. "What made you this upset then? Did he push you to do something? Did you guys get in a fight. You aren't giving me details Shaina" He sighed. I glanced down at my thighs. Telling him would kill him. Vic is like an older brother to me, but he went through this as well. I looked him in the eyes and began sliding up my dress. "Shay, What are you doing?" He asked standing up. "Vic, just don't be mad okay? I pleaded, and looked down at my scars. Vic sat next to me again, and put his fingers on my cuts. I looked up and met his eyes. "Shay..." He whispered. I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him. "Why didn't you tell me?" He asked pulling away, as I adjusted my dress back down. "It's not exactly something I'm proud of.." I said quietly. "Well I'm here for you. I know it's hard, but I've been there and I know you can get through this. You know my secrets, and now I know yours. Now, what does this have to do with Tony?" Vic asked, wiping a tear from his check. I wiped a few away for him, and gave him a small smile. It actually surprised me how well he took this, but he knew what it was like. I can always count on Vic. "He found out, and I made him promise not to tell anyone, but then we kissed a few times. It wasn't really anything big, but..... I thought maybe it could be. Until today. I was out to lunch with Tay and I saw Tony and Steph." I told him, taking in a big breathe at the end. I saw the way he tensed when I said Taylor, but I decided to bring that up later. "I, uh wow... How do you know they weren't just hanging out, or something Shay. I mean maybe they got over the bullshit and are trying to be friends" Vic suggested, obviously not even believing that himself. "I saw them kiss..." I whispered. Vic shook his head, and ran his fingers through his curly hair. "Tony never knows a good thing when he has it does he? Look Shay, I'm not sure what is going on there, but just know Stephanie isn't right for Tony, and he will realize that someday. For your sake I hope it's soon, but we all know you guys really care for each other. Shay your eyes light up, and you always smile around him. I can never get you to laugh the way Tony does, and lets be honest I'm an idiot sometimes" He laughed a bit at the end. "Is it that obvious?" I asked, hiding my face behind my hands for a moment. He chuckled. "Your heart it on your sleeve baby girl. You might as well get it tattooed across your forehead that you love him, but Tony is too stupid to probably even realize it then" He kidded. "I really do love him Vic... How pathetic is that? He's my best friend for christ's sake." I sighed, letting out a bitter laugh. "It's not pathetic Shay. It's actually kinda cute. Nicholas Sparks kinda shit." He kidded nudging my shoulder. I giggled. "Thanks Vic" I said leaning my head on his shoulder, snuggling into him when his arm went around me. "So Mr.Fuentes, what is going on with you and Taylor?" I asked him, looking up at him. He groaned. "What did she say?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. "Just that you guys kissed or whatever a few times, and then you totally bailed on her the other night. She thinks you just used her Vic.." i told him. He sighed looking at me. "It's not like that though! I like her, I really do. But..." He trailed off. "But what?" I urged him to continue. "But the age difference Shay! I mean what if her parents don't approve. I could get in huge trouble if they don't. And what about when I go on tour, will she be able to handle it once we are together? There are a lot of what if's" He explained, trying to stay calm. "Come on. Her parents love you as her friend, I'm sure they will love you as her boyfriend. Age is nothing but a number Vic. Well unless you were like 40, and trying to get with her, then even I would have a problem with it" I joked. "And yeah you being away will be hard but that is what webcam, text, and phone calls are for, and she will have her other friends here still" I reminded him. He nodded. "I guess I need to talk to her soon then don't I?" I nodded and smiled at him. "What is it with you hard headed Pierce The Veil guy's" I kidded. He smiled and leaned back into the couch with me. "I'll go talk to her tomorrow. Tonight is just you and I. We haven't spent time together in forever" he said clicking on the TV. We scrolled through the many movies he had on DVR, and we decided to watch Coraline.

An hour later Mike walked in the front door. "Shay!" He yelled running over to me. He plopped down on the other side of me and gave me a tight hug, pulling me away from Vic. "I've missed you my Hermione." He sighed, letting go. I giggled. "How am I your Hermione exactly Whiskey Hands?" I asked him. "Because I'm Harry Potter, and you always stop me from doing dumb shit, and correct me!" He exclaimed. I laughed and shook my head. "You're such a dork Mike" I said going back to watching the movie. "Damn do we have to watch this lame shit?" Mike asked standing up, and going over to the movie collection. "Hey! Take that back. This is the best animated movie ever!" Vic yelled jumping to his feet. "Fuck no. Nightmare Before Christmas!" He argued. "Can we just watch Breakfast Club or something?" I piped up. They both looked at me. "Fine.." Mike sighed, grabbing the DVD and setting the movie up before kicking his shoes off, and sitting next to me again. Mike dozed off, his head on my shoulder half way through the movie. "Vic?" I whispered. "Hmm?" He nodded his head towards me. "Thanks for today. I really needed it." I told him. He smiled. "Anytime." He told me. I smiled and leaned my head against his, dozing off as well.
Maybe things will be okay for a little while.

Once again, I know I dragged with this update. I am finding motivation for this story again. Thank you to everyone who has commented telling me they like the story, and to keep going, it pushes me to finish the chapters (even if they are super late).
This chapter sorta turned into a filler, to kinda show her friendship with other people more, and to have a chapter that didn't really have her hanging out with Tony.
Thank you all for being patient and sticking with the story, even when the updates weren't worth the wait . I love you all. If any of you ever need to talk to someone, I am here for you.
I hope you enjoyed it. I am on winter break, and I plan to try and update at least twice over the two week break. We'll see idea wise if I can do it. <3
