Wish I Stayed

to the edge of all

Hours passed as Liam explained everything that led up to their actual first date. He glanced over at her to find her staring back, and he glanced away before he continued. “Yeah, so our first date was on New Year’s eve,” he said before he went to continue.

Liam waited patiently in the elevator as he softly hummed and leaned against the elevator wall. He was beyond nervous with his hands shaking lightly and butterflies in his stomach. It could feel the butterflies beating quickly, and he licked his lips as he started out of the elevator. With a soft knock on the girl’s door, he smiled as he saw her. His heart raced at the sound of her delicious voice, and he offered her his hand.

“Bye mom!” she yelled before she took his hand. “So, what do you have planned today?” she asked with a raise of an eyebrow and a light grin on her face. She looked beautiful. She wore a beautiful white dress that seemed to fit her body perfectly with a jean jacket since it was a bit chilly outside.

“Mm, that’s a secret, darling,” he said as he shoved both of his hands into his pockets. “I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Well, I hope you do.” He chuckled lightly, and he could hear her giggles join him.

“I’m sure I’ll will,” she told him as she flashed him a smile, showing off her pearly whites. He couldn’t help but grin back.

When they arrived at a small Italian restaurant, he opened the door for her like a gentleman before he followed her inside. They were led to a table, and she was glancing around before she looked back at him. “It just smells wonderful in here,” she told him before she went to open her menu.

They both ordered, and they were soon learning about each other. “Mm, why did you want to become an artist?” Liam asked as he inclined his eyebrow and looked at her.

She seemed to think about this with her lips quirked to the side lightly, and her eyes focused on the ceiling. “Well, when I was little, I watched this movie. It described how art was such a magical thing. You could paint practically anything you want. It’s like creating a different world sometimes,” she said it in such a quiet, soft voice, and he couldn’t help smile at this. She loved art as much as he loved music. “So, you’re a singer, yeah?” she asked with a lift of an eyebrow.

He smiled and nodded as he said, “Yeah. I actually tried out for the X-Factor this year.” It was still a bit hard for him, but Simon had said to come back in two years. He was going to work his arse off in those two years. “I didn’t make it, but Simon had told me to go back in two years when I’m sixteen.” He smiled at her, and she smiled back.

“Well, I’m sure you have an excellent voice. I would love to hear it sometime,” she told him, and he nodded.

“I’m sure I’ll sing to you many times in the future.”

He was about to continue with the story to where they had walked to the park for the fireworks, but something hit his shoulder, and he glanced down at her. She was sleeping, and he glanced at the clock to find that it was nearly one. He bit his lip lightly since he wasn’t sure what to do with her, and he sighed lightly before his arms enveloped her. He brought her to the guest room where the bed was neatly made.

After he tucked her in, his eyes focused on her face and he couldn’t help but sigh. She was still so beautiful, and he could feel his heart break even more after all these years, after these last few weeks. He didn’t understand how he had so many feelings for her still, but before he knew it, he was leaning down and pressing a soft kiss on her lips before he whispered, “Goodnight, Clare-bear.”
