Shine for Us

“A one-camera movie with the one camera removed is simply no longer a movie. Ask the audience in the darkened theatre, and they will tell you, there is no movie. Will they be angry? Will they yell “start the movie! We don’t have all day!”? This crowd in our heads, will they just leave? Where will they go? Don’t they now have all day? Stay! I’m sure we’ll get this camera fixed! The movie will start again shortly! Won’t it? Hello?” – Shawn Harris

Is the audience leaving?

We seem to live in a time when people leave their favourite bands behind. A time where every new record released carries the potential to make a band sellouts or failures in the eyes of their fans. And any band that dares to make a record which isn’t a replication of their previous releases risks being torn to shreds by fans turning to foes.

It happens all the time.

Should we then just stand by and watch? Just stare, doing nothing, as those bands we love so much are being ripped to shreds before our eyes. Watch as words of criticism are tossed as if they were rocks meant to kill?

We should do something.

We should and we can.

One of those precious bands that need a little encouragement is The Matches. Now, they may not be well-known and they may not have sold an overwhelming amount of records. But in spite of that, or maybe because of it, they need to know that they’re truly appreciated.

But it will take more than one person to accomplish this.

And that’s why authors are asked to come together and make this happen.
(Read more about this here.)

The Matches my not have millions and millions of fans. But hopefully the ones they have will be enough to make a difference.
