Bedtime Stories

Throughout my childhood, each night as I went to settle in my bed, my father would enter my room and present me and my older sister, Alex, with a bedtime story read straight from his handwritten, must-scented journal he'd written for us years before. The genre could vary; an adventure, a fantasy, a love story. One thing was certain; each of these stories were based on one women and one women alone. Rachel, she was called. A courageous, head-strong, leader of a women who's beauty ran currents. I thought she didn't exist. I thought she was just fiction. And it's only now as I reach my sixteenth birthday that I realise that she did exist, she was real and her importance in my life is a lot stronger than I first thought.

Very loosely based around the hit BBC TV show, Waterloo Road, but can be read separately nonetheless.
