A Little's Enough

perfect.

Teigann’s POV

Before I knew it, we had finished dinner and servers along with our friends were singing happy birthday to Frank and I. I was a bright shade of red by the end, and Toby took the opportunity to point it out to everyone causing even more laughter to fill our corner of the restaurant. The servers brought out two special dessert plates, one for Frank and one for myself. His held a molten chocolate cake, and mine had a slice of red velvet cheesecake- our favorites. I shared my cheesecake with Gerard, being quite full from dinner. I was happy to have all my friends present, to see them all enjoying themselves. It certainly made up for the day I’d had on my actual birthday. I was thankful that they’d planned this for Frank and I, it was exactly what I had needed and I could tell that Frank was enjoying himself too.

When it came time to pay the bill, Gerard sneakily paid before anyone else even saw it.

“Thanks everyone, for coming, for celebrating. Thank you Frank for sharing your birthday festivities with me.” I reached over and hugged him.

“Anytime Teigs.” He grinned. “Best birthday ever?”

“Best birthday ever Frank.” I couldn’t help but laugh.

“So we’re all headed back to the Way house then?” October chimed in.

“Actually, there’s been a change of plans.” Mikey grinned.

“What would that change be?” I asked, an eyebrow raised.

“Not everyone is coming back to the house.” He shrugged his shoulders.

“Okay then.” I left it at that, a bit confused, but still too happy to mind that plans had changed.

10pm

As it turns out, it was only October and I that went back to the house. Tia had planned out a romantic night for Frank, and apologized profusely for ditching out on the rest of the night. It was still a mystery why no one else came back with us, but I didn’t question it. We watched some TV, and before long my eyes were drooping, begging for sleep. I had wanted to stay up and watch Halloween movies all night, I had even convinced them to watch The Halloween Tree which none of them had heard of. Regardless it was my favorite and I couldn’t break tradition, I watched it every year.

“Why don’t you take a nap sugar, we’ll let Mikes and Boo have some time together and when you wake up you and I will watch it, okay?” Gerard smiled down at me, knowing I was close to passing out.

“Promise? I don’t want to sleep very long, I’m just so tired. All the excitement today made me so sleepy.” I stifled a yawn.

“I promise. Come on, lets get you up to bed so you can sleep.” He pulled me up off the couch, putting a supportive arm around me to lead me upstairs.

“Goodnight Boo, goodnight Mikes. Thank you again.” I looked directly at October saying this.

“You’re welcome bebs,” she smiled, also looking ready for sleep.

“Get a good sleep.”

Gerard led me up the stairs and to his room. I sunk into his bed easily, deciding that I definitely liked his bed better than my own. I was careful to make sure my dress didn’t hike up at all, and I patted the space beside me inviting him to lay down with me. “Will you nap with me?” I asked, barely above a whisper.

“I’ll try to.” He smiled warmly, “But I’ll do this,” he began stroking my head. “until you fall asleep.”

“Mmm, okay.” I practically purred. In no time at all, I was fast asleep.

“Teigann, wake up.” Gerard’s voice broke through my dreams. I opened my eyes, blinking a few times.

“How long have I been sleeping?” I asked, wiping my face with my hands. I sat up a little. I realized that after I’d fallen asleep, he’d covered me with his blankets so that I wouldn’t get cold.

“Only about an hour. I fell asleep too, I woke up a few minutes ago.” he smiled up at me, still laying beside me.
I curled up beside him again, snuggling into the covers. I could feel him snake his arms around me, and I bit my lip smiling.

“Still want to go watch the movie right away?” he asked, laughing at my obvious comfort.

“Maybe in a bit, Halloween isn’t until tomorrow. I have lots of time still.” I couldn’t concentrate on anything other than the feeling of his hand resting on the small of my back; the shivers I was getting from it.

“Are you cold?” he asked as if on cue.

“Nope.” I looked into his eyes smiling.

He let out a gentle laugh. “Alright then.”

We remained this way for a few more minutes before he began pulling away to sit up.

“Do we have to get up?” I asked in protest.

“You don’t have to get up. I just want to do something now, while it’s just us.” He seemed nervous all of a sudden.

I sat up, blankets still covering my lap. “Is everything okay?”

“Mhmm. Everything’s just fine.” He went to his closet, reached up onto the shelf and pulled something down. I couldn’t quite tell what it was because it was dark in the room. Keeping the item well hidden from my sight, he proceeded to turn on a light in the room.

He came back to the bed, and sat down in front of me, face to face with me looking more nervous than I’d ever seen him.

“What’s the matter love?” I asked.

“Nothing’s wrong. I swear.” he smiled up at me weakly. “I just wanted to give you your birthday gift.” He grabbed for my hands.

“I wanted to find you something perfect, and today I think I did.”

My heart swelled at this. “Gerard, I told you not to worry about presents. I have you in my life, do you know how big of a gift that is?”

“I know what you said, but I couldn’t help myself. I just hope that you like it. If you don’t I can take it back and we can find something different for you…” He began to ramble, his hands trembled slightly.

“I will love it.” I smiled at him reassuringly, trying to calm him.

He let go of my hands, reached behind him and pulled a small box from behind his back. He placed the box in my hands, looking back up at me shyly. It was a jewelry box, just a slight bit bigger than a standard ring box. My heart was pounding by this point, I think his nervousness was making me even more anxious.

“Go ahead, open it.” I heard him urge, realizing that I’d been sitting gaping at the box in my hands.

“O-Okay.” Came my response, stuttered.
I held my breath as I opened the lid of the box off. Sitting in the bed of red velvet was bright silver. A beautiful twisted piece of silver on a delicate silver chain. I exhaled “It’s beautiful.” I looked back up to his face, in awe.

“I know it probably looks a bit weird, but it’s shaped that way for a reason. The woman told me that the twist separates, but always comes back to meet again. It’s supposed to stand for everlasting love, things that are meant to be. That no matter how many times the path gets separated, it always meets back up again. I feel like that with you. That maybe in a past life, you were someone I loved. That in this life, I got to come back to you. I love you Teigann, and I just wanted to give you something that showed you everything I felt. You are the one for me. For me, if I ever fuck this up, and I hope to god that I don’t, it’ll always come back to you.” he looked down at his hands.

A few tears slipped over my eyelids. I couldn’t believe how amazing he was. I was in shock that he had picked out something so thoughtful. “It’s perfect.” I managed before lifting his face and pressing my lips to his.
