for the first time in years
At first, it was just a pain in his abdomen. Then it was spiked fevers. Then it was jaundice.
They ran tests and more tests and even more tests. The doctors said that it could possibly be treatable; the outcome wasn't likely.
He locked himself in the garage where he worked and didn't come home for the entire day. She found herself crying when she did the dishes. And again when she did passed by their wedding photo in the hall. And again when she tripped over his The Beatles records.
When he finally came home in the middle of the night, she stared at him and he strode over to her, kissed her like there was no tomorrow and took her into the bedroom where he made sweet love to her, just like he did every night.
