TWENTY-SIX;
The Tallavera's lived happily for a very long time. Holland stayed at home for the first two years of little Samantha's life and Rhett got his job at the shoe shop he used to work at. Things were going well, so well even that the war ended in 1945.
Holland breathed a sigh in relief when the news flooded the newspapers. Rhett placed his hands on her arms and said, in her ear, "I told you, I'm not going anywhere."
She smiled and nodded. "I know."
"We have a beautiful daughter and I'm not leaving you behind again. It's been two years, baby. We'll be fine."
Holland turned around and kissed him on the lips.
"I know."
