Love Remains the Same
I smiled again, unsure of how to react. Yes, I wanted to have sex with him, but.. it's wrong. No shit, Sherlock. I was hoping you'd have gone away, damn voice. Nah, just enjoying the show. Before I could say anything, the door slid open and we stepped out, this time me leading the way. Matt smiled, thinking it was eagerness that kept my pace slightly ahead of his. It was mostly, but also an intense amount of nerves. We got to the door and Matt unlocked it, holding it open for me ("Thank you, my kind sir." "Anything for you, kind madam,") and walking in after. He led me by the hand into the bedroom, my mind racing even more.
"Wow... when did all this happen?" I felt my heart melt and I smiled warmly at Matt before looking back at the decorated room. There were deep scarlet rose petals scattered over the floor and on the bed, red and white candles on the bed stands, already lit and wavering slightly in the draft. There was a bucket placed on one of the mahogany round tables, filled with ice and a bottle of very expensive champagne.
"Do you like it? I had it planned to be set up while we were downstairs." He said in a hushed voice while walking toward the ice bucket. I nodded happily, my pulse rate exceeding normal rates by about 200%. I followed, standing next to him whilst he worked the cork out of the bottle, it shooting out and landing almost exactly in the center of the bed. He chuckled and poured the bubbly gold liquid into the two champagne flutes next to the bucket on the table. We clinked glasses, the sound ringing like... like wedding bells.
"What are we toasting to, Studmuffin?" He smiled at the petname before saying.
"Absolutely anything you want, Cady." Oh god, how is he so perfect?!
"Aw," I responded, biting my lip before saying, "How about.. just, to us, to being in Vegas and spending the night in good company." He nodded.
"To us." We emptied the glasses and set them down. Matt turned to look for something but I stopped him with a touch and hugged him tightly.
"Thank you for this, Matt." He pecked my forehead and I watched him walk to a sleek stereo I'd failed to notice before. His finger pressed play and he turned back to me, taking my hand.
"Would you like to dance, Cady?" I nodded, wrapping my arms around his neck as he put his hands lightly on my hips. We stared into the others' eyes as the song started.
A thousand times I’ve seen you standing
Gravity like a lunar landing
Make me want to run till I find you.
I shut the world away from here
Drift to you, you’re all I hear
Everything we know fades to black.
Half the time the world is ending
Truth is I am done pretending.
I never thought that I had anymore to give
Pushing me so far
Here I am without you
Drink to all that we have lost
Mistakes we have made.
Everything will change
But love remains the same.
Find the place where we escape
Take you with me for a space
The city buzz, sounds just like a fridge.
I walk the streets through seven bars
I had to find just where you are
The faces seems to blur, they’re all the same.
Half the time the world is ending
Truth is I am done pretending.
I never thought that I had anymore to give
Pushing me so far
Here I am without you
Drink to all that we have lost
Mistakes we have made
Everything will change
But love remains the same.
So much more to say
So much to be done
Don’t you trick me out
We shall overcome
So all have stayed in place
We should have had the sun
Could have been inside
Instead we’re over here.
A pause in the music caused me to smile more at the perfect man in front of me, who'd gone to such lengths to make this night perfect for the two of us. Our faces were getting closer and closer, finally meeting in one of those perfect movie kisses, where everything is going great for everyone and no one is cheating. The song went on, though we were no longer swaying to the music, just caught up in the moment in each other's arms.
Half the time the world is ending
Truth is I am done pretending.
Too much time, too long defending
You and I are done pretending.
I never thought that I had anymore to give.
Pushing me so far,
Here I am without you.
Drink to all that we have lost,
Mistakes we have made.
Everything will change,
Everything will change.
I, oh I, I
wish this could last forever.
I, oh I, I
As if we could last forever.
Love remains the same,
Love remains the same.
As the song drifted off, Matt picked me up bridal style and came to a stop at the bed, putting me down lightly and smiling. I felt something stick awkwardly into the center of my back as Matt leaned down on top of me. From under me came the cork from the champagne, we both laughed quietly and I tossed it onto the floor and sat up. Matt pushed my shoulder gently and I laid back down on the petal-covered bed, pushing everything but his full, soft lips from my mind...
