Two Part Harmony

Present

I was on my daily run in the park. I have been running almost every morning around 8 o’clock for about three years now. I take the same route and usually see the same people, but today was different. About to run over the bridge was Ryan coming from the opposite direction. I stopped to watch as sweat ran down his face. He noticed me and smiled, but he did not stop which disappointed me for some reason.

After finishing my run I walked to my car and leaning against the back of my car was Ryan. I could feel my smile growing larger every second I got closer to him. My heart was pounding and I was feeling a little nervous. “Why did you really come back?” I asked shyly.

“You know exactly why I came back.” He smiled and I couldn’t help, but blush.

“Then why did you bring that tramp along?” I know it sounded mean, but it was the truth.

“It’s harder to get rid of her than you think, but I will do everything I can to get it through her head that I am one hundred percent still in love with you.”
