A few days passed and not much had changed. Clay did allow Juliette to go to her classes or wherever she wanted, but it was conditional. She had to take someone from the Club with her. Everywhere.

She didn't like them babysitting her. When she was sitting in class, there was someone outside the door. When she was studying at home, there was someone in the next room. She was never allowed to be alone. They were taking turns staying with her, depending on who Clay needed at the moment. Even Kozik from Tacoma had taken a few turns.

Chibs was hanging around outside her classes today and as soon as she finished for the day, someone else would be coming to take his place. She and Silas walked down the hallway toward the main doors with Chibs following close behind them. When they got outside, Juice was waiting, his bike parked next to Chibs's bike and her car. Juliette waved goodbye to him as he jumped on his bike and left, leaving Juice to his watch duties.

She and Silas went out onto the front lawn of the school and sat down under a large, particularly shady tree. Juliette pulled her Spanish notebook from her backpack and flipped it open to her study notes for the test then passed it over to Silas. He was staring at something behind her, not paying a bit of attention to her.

"What are you staring at?"

His eyes shifted to her for a moment before he shook his head and took the notebook from her hands, looking down at it. "That guy seems to be on Jules duty a lot."

Juliette glanced behind her at Juice, who was leaned against the railing in front of his bike, arms crossed over his chest. She couldn't see his eyes becuae of the sunglasses on his face but she could tell he was staring them down. "It's just because he doesn't have anything else to do. He's the computer guy. If Clay doesn't need something done on the computer, then Juice doesn't really have to be right there with the club 24/7."

"Right," he muttered sarcastically.

"I know you're trying to be all protective best friend right now, but there's no need. He's way older than me. Almost my brother's age. And on top of that, he's part of the Club. You know how I feel about the Club!"

"Yeah, whatever."

"You know, you're being a real jerk today," she snapped, grabbing her notebook from in front of him and stuffing it into her backpack. She got up from her spot and walked quickly over toward Juice, who began walking forward to meet her halfway.

"Everything okay?" he asked when he reached her.

She frowned as she glanced back at Silas, where he was still sitting, looking remorseful. "Let's just go."

"Sure," he agreed. His hand found the small of her back as they walked back to the parking lot. He opened her car door for her then jumped onto his bike as she got into her car. He followed her out of the parking lot and onto the road.

Instead of turning left to go in the direction of her house, she kept going straight. Juice wasn't sure what she was doing but he kept behind her until they got to the clubhouse. She parked her car and grabbed her backpack as she went inside, with him closely following.

"Wanna tell me what happened?" he asked as he sat down on the opposite end of the sofa from her.

She kicked off her flats and pulled her legs up, tucking them under her body. "I'd rather not," she sighed.

"Well, are you okay?"

She cracked a smile. "You're worried about my high school shit?"

"No," he admitted. "Just you."

She stared at him for a long moment before biting back a smile and looking down at her hands in her lap. "I'm okay," she finally affirmed with a small nod.

"Are you sure?"

Her smile grew a little and she nodded again. "Yeah."

"Juice!" Tig shouted from the doors of the chapel. Both Juice and Juliette snapped their heads over to look at him where he stood with raised eyebrows and a hint of a grin. "Clay needs ya in here, man."

"Yeah," he agreed, glancing back at Juliette as he got up. "See you later."

When Juice was gone, Tig took his seat on the sofa. "I thought you were studying with that kid today?"

Juliette rolled her eyes. "Change of plans. He's being an ass."

Tig chuckled as he put his arms behind his head and leaned back. "That's what you get for hanging around guys like that."

"As if life would be so much better if I hung around guys like you?"

"Hell no. Don't hang out with guys like me either."

"Well, that doesn't leave any other type of guys."

"Exactly."

"Oh, what, you want me to be a lesbian?"

"Hey, don't go puttin' thoughts in my head while you're still jailbait."

She glared at him, annoyed. "I thought I was like a daughter to you."

"An extremely beautiful, not related to me in any way kind of daughter."

She groaned, rolling her eyes. "You're an ass."

"Yeah, I know."

Shaking her head, she reached for her backpack, pulling her spanish notebook from it and re-situating herself to put her feet in his lap. "Wanna help me study spanish?"

"Wha'ts the spanish word for no?"

"No," she informed him.

"Oh, alright. Then no."

"Thanks," she replied sarcastically. "But it'd probably do you good to know some spanish considering who your enemies are."

He waved her off, not taking her seriously. "Yeah, if it ever comes to something serious, we'll just take you along to translate."

"Whatever. I have to study now so leave me alone."

He chuckled as he got up from the sofa and patted the top of her head as he walked back to the chapel, leaving her in the quiet to study her spanish.
