"I call upon Evermore Bree to the stand, Your Honor."

I took a deep breath and rose form my seat walking towards the officer.

"Raise your right hand."

I did as was told.

"Do you promise to speak the truth and nothing but the turht in the court of law?"

The officer asked.

"Yes, sir."
"Take a seat behind the stand."

I took a seat and took deep breaths to calm down.
A woman in her early forties walked up.
Faded blonde hair pulled back into a bun.
She smiled at me.
I smiled back.

"Evermore, I have a few questions and all I ask is that you answer them. Truthfully."

I nodded.

"Is it true that you and Travis Stevens were invlved in a relationship with each other?"
"Yes."
"For how long did it last?"
"Three years."
"When did it become abusive?"
"A few months into the relationship."
"And why did you not back out?"
"I was scared to."
"Scared of what?"
"That he would hurt Elijah."
"Was he ever abusive towards Elijah?"
"No. Never. He treated him as his own."
"Who is Elijah's father?"
"Brent Woods."
"And is he here today?"
"Yes."
"And where was he when-"
"Stephanie, get to the point. I don't have all day for pointless nonsense." The judge interrupted.
"Sorry, Your Honor."

She looked at me again.

"When Travis sent Gabriel Dennis to take your son did you know it was Travis?"
"No."
"And when you found Elijah, what did Travis say?"

I had to think back.
It was a threat I knew that..

"He wouldnt tell me where Eli was until I calmed down."
"Why weren't you aready calm?"
"Because I was being a mother and getting my baby back."
"And when you calmed down what did he do?"
"He referred back to when he hit me and that I learned from it."
"What did you learn exactly?"
"To never talk back or I'd get hit."
"And what happend next?"
"I talked back and he tried to hit me but Brent stopped that."
"How did he stop it?"
"He told him not to touch me."
"Was it said in a threatening way?"
"Well, yes. But-"
"That's all the questions I have."

She then stepped down and walked away.

I hope they dont take Brent away from me..
