Into Your Arms

I Just Need Some Time

Bang. Crash. Yelling. What the hell was going on out there?

I opened my door and dodged the pillow Mel whipped at my face.

"IF YOU LOVED ME SHE WOULDN'T BE HERE!"

Both John and Mel's faces were burning.

"SHE'S JUST A ROOMMATE, NOT A PROSTITUTE!"

More yelling. Screaming. A few tears.

"Mel, get out of my house." John attempted to calm down.

She shook her head, crying.

"I just... I need some time to figure this out." He sighed.

"You have all the time you need. We're over." She announced, slamming the door behind her.

John sat down on the couch, his face buried in his hands. "I'm sorry."

I joined him, rubbing circles on his back. "It's fine."

It was late. 3 am. I rolled out of bed and dragged myself to the bathroom, not realizing the shower was running until I saw John. Naked.

"I'm sorry!" I yelled, looking away.

"Come join me!" He slurred.

Oh my god. He was drunk.

I sighed and reached in, cautiously turning the water off. "Time for bed."

He groaned and stumbled out, leaning on me for support. I awkwardly led him to his room, and pushed him to the bed, making him sputter out laughing.

"Come to bed with me!"

I shook my head as I pulled a pair of grey boxers and tossed them at him. "Put them on."

He smiled wide. "Only if you get in bed with me."

I shook my head again.

He groaned and slipped them on, then slid under the covers.

I walked to the door and turned the light off.

"No goodnight kiss?" He whined.

Yes. "No, go to sleep." I closed the door and went back to my bed.

Ten minutes later, my door opened, and a still drunk John smiled at me.

"I put you to bed!" I got up to do it yet again.

I pulled the covers over him. "Now stay."

"I'll stay if you do."

I groaned. "Promise?"

He nodded, and I awkwardly climbed under the covers beside him, careful not to get too close.
Then I felt his arm wrap around my waist, and his breath on the back of my neck.

This wasn't so bad.

When I woke up, he was gone.
