Piece of Your Heart

I woke up to the sound of thunder and lightning, apparently a storm is currently hitting us.

Its been a few days since the rescheduled dating with Aaron and i noticed that Charlie has been acting a bit weird as if.. cautious as well as alerted... he hasnt really been wanting to talk to me that much and i wanted to know why.. but whenever he has been

"Zion do you want to go to school today? I'ts up to you if you do because of the Thunderstorm" my Dad asked from down the stairs.

"I'll ask Charlie if he is going" I yelled back to him while grabbing my cellphone and dialing Charlie's number.

This was the perfect opportunity to talk to Charlie as a one on one person

The phone rang for about 30 seconds until there was a loud groan on the other end and i was greeted by Charlie's-Morning-Raspy-Voice... which sent shivers down my body.

"Uhhh" He said as a greeting.

"Morning Charlie, are you going to school today" i chirped happily as i got out of bed and looked for something to wear.

"Mmmm" he replied while i heard a rustling in the sheets on the other line.

"Okies.. well i was wondering if you would pick me up today please" I asked while waiting for a long reply.

"Yeaaa... Just give me 15 more minutes of sleep" He groaned as i heard him shuffle himself on the bed and all of a sudden i heard a thud... he dropped his phone and it clicked.

I shook my head and giggled... he was so cute.

I hung up the phone and headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth when all of a sudden the mixture sound of booming thunderclaps with occasional lightning flashes intermingled with my sister's wailing for the thunder as well as lightning to stop.

Walking downstairs was kind of difficult since i nearly tripped because of the length of the jeans i was wearing today which was slightly oversized.. as well as the longsleeved which surpassed my fingertips by at least 3 inches or less..

As i arrived at the dinner table that was littered with food, i noticed a crying Lily and Johnathan just looking at the pouring rain outside.

I wrapped the plaid scarf around my neck as a thunder shook our house.

"AHHH!!!! WE'RE GOING TO DIEE!" Lily screamed while practically smashing her fork unto the waffles.

Syrup splattered all over Johnathan and Dad and i couldn't help but giggle.

"Shut up Lily!! We're not going to die!" my older brother yelled while cleaning his face.

I sat there and ate while looking at both of my siblings argue as my dad read his newspaper and shaking his head from their commotion and as each thunder boomed through the sky and lightning flashing; my sister's voice became louder and louder to the point where both of them were screaming.

Shaking my head i popped a mint into my mouth and grabbed a pack of 5 gum and stuffed it in my pocket as i went to the door and opened it up.

Grabbing one of the bigger umbrellas i sat down on a chair on the porch while i waited for Charlie.

Thunder boomed above us, causing another scream echoing from upstairs as Lightning struck down at the horizon.

It was eerily beautiful to see the grey thickening clouds blanketing over town and blocking out the sunlight as rain cascaded down unto the ground forming puddles and slight temporary rivers near sidewalks.

I loved the rain, i loved playing in it, I love singing in it... i just loved the rain... i love the cooling feeling it gave when touching my skin; i loved to look at it falling down.. i used to imagine that it was the sky crying.

I wrapped up my sleeves and i looked out at the storming sky.

Before i even realized i was holding my hand out and watching the raindrops drip on my hand until it was fully drenched with water and i could feel the cold wind intensifying the cool sensation.

"Zi"

I snapped back to reality and saw Charlie in his car waving at me to come on.

"Hiii Charlie" I waved while opening up the umbrella and walking to the car.. trying to ignore my heartbeat as he just stared at me.

Going into the car i put my bag on my lap and stuffed the umbrella in the back of me.

"You hungry?" He said while we zoomed off to school.

"Nah i ate breakfast... If your hungry we can stop by somewhere to get you something" I smiled to him as he was concentrating on driving.

"Nah it's fine" he said while we took a right.

The ride was a bit quiet and i was feeling a bit drowsy from the ride so i decided to rest my head against the window as i watched the pouring rain hit the window... i could also feel the heartbeat in my chest echoing so loud just by being in the same space as Charlie.

I closed my eyes, feeling the heartbeat thumping in my heart that resonated with the thunder booming above us.

For a few minutes i had my eyes closed.. until a somewhat skid jerked me back awake to see Charlie staring directly at me.

The station that was tuned on started to play a very cliche song that described the current situation... it played Without You by Mariah Carey while we continued to stare directly at each other.

His hazel eyes bore themselves deep into my heart and possibly deep into my core, making my heart thump almost thunderously.

It was very cliche and predictable of me to be lipping the song to him... i couldn't say "I love you" to him... i didn't have the strength to even say it... but instead i conveyed it to him by just silently singing the song while looking directly into his eyes... the eyes are the window of one's soul.

His darkened pitch black hair, his hazel storm eyes, his lips just was facing my direction and he himself was giving me his full attention.

Then he did the most unexpected... without even processing it in my head... He leaned in close and brushed his lips against my own.. causing my heart to pummel in an almost chaotic as well as hectic way that i felt as if it was about to just punch through my chest and give him flowers.

His tongue passed through my lips and made its way into mouth, exploring and looking for my own... the heat from his hands touching my shoulders felt as if they were about to burn off from all of this... his kiss as well as grip on me felt as if it was a sort of need.. like he really needed me.

He pulled away forcefully as we both gasped for air and looked at each other... his hand brushed against my face and he whispered the words that turned my mind into a heaping blob of goop.

"I love you"

Tears streamed down my face as those words sank deep in me... the words i always wanted to hear... the words that i had dreamt of for so long.

"I love you too" I cried as he hugged me and i practically sobbed in his chest.

"Zion~" He calmed me down...

"I'm here Charlie" i sobbed.

"Zion~" he called again.

"I said im right here" I answered.

"ZION!"

I opened my eyes to two things.

1) My eyes were watery and my cheeks were wet

2) Charlie was gazing down at me from the driver's seat

I looked around to see we were at a stoplight and that Charlie was just looking at me.

It appears that i was dreaming.

"Yea you were dreaming" he chuckled

Wait i said that out loud!

I blinked as i remembered the dream and my heart paced rapidly once more... if i had said that out loud.. could he hear me?

"So what you were dreaming about?" He questioned while we continued driving.

I didn't say anything as i processed of what happened... i was dreaming that entire scenario! Curse you writer of this story for making me go through all of this emotional turmoil!

"You even cried too" Charlie added.

"Yea it was a very emotional dream" I answered.

Loud booming noises came from within the car but i knew that he couldn't hear them... so i put my hand on my heart... I thought it was the thunder outside booming across the state but... the real noise was coming from me.

Real World or Dream World... At this moment i had a Thunderous Heartbeat.
