Blue Tide

Part 3

Sarah blinked her eyes as she lied in her bed alone. The sky was still dark and she was sure it was late but she couldn’t sleep. She felt anxious and jumpy and she definitely wouldn’t be able to relax after all that happened. After finding out the truth about Oceanus, she was shocked and she actually began to question her mind, maybe she had really lost her senses?

No. She knew that he was real. She had met him as Thomas and she had watched him change right before his eyes. She still could hardly believe how amazingly beautiful his God form was, he was astonishing and something about him made her crave him immensely. She shook her head suddenly. She couldn’t think of him in that way, she couldn’t let herself get infatuated or she’d suffer.

He didn’t seem that bad all together but she knew that he simply needed her so he could regain his powers. After that was done, he’d probably set her free or never show up again so she couldn’t get attached. Their deal consisted of her praying to him every night, occasionally doing it near the shore, where the prayer always gained more meaning and she’d also have to visit him wherever he wished because they were bonded.

‘You should be sleeping, Sarah.’

A shiver ran up her spine as she looked around to realize that the voice came from inside her head.

“Stop going through my thoughts!” She mumbled as she curled into a ball.

"I can’t help myself. They are very loud." Oceanus chuckled as she shut her eyes tight.

“Knowing that we share such a bond is making me uneasy and you’re not helping. Get out of my head.” She demanded a bit irritated.

“Only if you promise to visit me tomorrow.” Oceanus replied shortly, knowing what he wanted.

“Fine.” She mumbled “How can I summon you?” She asked.

“You know what to do.” He said as she instantly felt calmer and shut her eyes.

Oceanus slept for a few hours, after using his powers to make her sleep. He was lying under water on the sand where he used to go all the time when he was younger. He just liked to lay there amongst the fishes, the corals and the faint movement of the tides. Being back there felt strangely familiar and comforting. He smiled as he felt his power slowly start to return to him through his connection to Sarah. He had never experienced a connection with a mortal and he never thought that it could be so powerful but it was all mostly due to her. Her belief and her heart were both strong and so beautiful and pure that he somehow was even able to hear her thoughts and feel her mood.

Suddenly he sensed that Sarah was waiting for him like they had agreed and he felt that she was upset. He sighed as he went up, not bothering to shift into a mortal form.

Sarah kept muttering a few praying words when suddenly she recognized the God form appearing from the furious ocean. He had a smile on his face and she simply narrowed her eyes at him, for some reason she didn’t fear him at all like many people would.

“Hello Sarah.” Oceanus greeted as he bowed his head slightly and took her hand in his but she snatched it back before he could kiss it, making him grin at her.

“Hello Oceanus.” She greeted, clearly upset as he began to feel extremely amused by her current mood.

“Are you upset?” He asked boldly as she puffed and sighed.

“I don’t want you overhearing my thoughts.” She said seriously as her green eyes locked with his and his stare burned into her, making her lips part slightly at how intense he was.

“I can’t help it.” He said, knowing that this would be a problem “We have a connection Sarah, you are part of me now.”

“Isn’t that just great? You can hear my thoughts but I can’t hear yours. How is that a connection?” She asked getting angrier.

“If you really listened, you’d be able to hear me too.” Oceanus replied, growing more frustrated towards her attitude as he suddenly grabbed her hand and pressed it hard against his forehead. “Can you hear me?” He asked, drawing her in.

Sarah began breathing a bit faster as she saw the veins starting to pop up under his skin in his neck and she tensed up at how strange it looked. Then she gasped as another one of his veins, popped in his forehead under her hand and she felt the beating of his heart pulsing through it. She was surprised to learn that he had a heart, which made him chuckle.

“I may be a God but I still have a heart.” He said. “Now, try to silence your thoughts and hear mine.”
Sarah locked her eyes with his and then closed them slowly. She inhaled and exhaled slowly as she tried to do as he said when suddenly she heard something faintly in the distance. She noticed that the more his heart accelerated, the more the ocean became violent and agitated and she was impressed by his powers.

“You are not focusing, Sarah.” Oceanus said with a paternalistic tone as he felt her stiffen.

He had easily realized that the mortal woman had a temper and wasn’t afraid to show it to him, even though he could kill her in the blink of an eye. He liked that about her, he liked the challenge.

Sarah furrowed her eyebrows as she began to hear his voice in a whisper.

'Volo vos.

Vellem mihi.

Osculare me, salva me.

Diliges.'

Then she opened her eyes and glanced at him.

“Your thoughts aren’t in English.” She said as Oceanus smirked, showing her that he was much more intelligent than she thought.

“I just wanted you to hear them, I didn’t mention that you would understand them.” He grinned as she pulled away from him and crossed her arms over her chest.

“Could you just respect my privacy?” She pressed as he sighed.

“I will do my best.” He said, nodding his head.

“God promise?” She grinned, knowing that he just cornered him.

“How do you know about that?” He asked in astonishment.

“I studied Mythology, remember?” She smirked as he sighed deeply and nodded his head. “Oh and stop enchanting me with spells to make me sleep.”

“That was for your own good. You needed to rest.” He pointed out “What will I get in return for promising all of this?” He asked clearly frustrated by her demands.

“Aside from the prayers?” She asked, thinking that it was enough.

“Yes, I want something more.” He said with determination as he took a step towards her and she widened her eyes a bit.

“What do you want?”

“Aside from visits when I request,” He started “I want a kiss.”

He heard her inhale sharply, her thoughts turning to scrambled eggs and he felt proud of his effect. Clearly, she wanted him as much as he had grown to want her, the only mortal who he cared for.

“Aren’t you asking for too much?” She asked as he leaned down, his lips hovering over her, barely an inch apart.

“I can continue to read your thoughts… believe me, I wouldn’t mind.” He grinned, teasing her.
She narrowed her eyes and took a deep breath before relaxing and reaching up to peck his lips. It lasted a second but it was enough to make her flush.

“Do you call that a kiss… mortal?” He challenged as she narrowed her eyes.

“I’ll show you a kiss, God of the Seas.” She mumbled as she placed her hands on the sides of his face and their lips crashed against each other passionately, hungrily.

Oceanus had never been kissed like that by anyone and Sarah never thought that she would ever be able to kiss anyone so intensely. As she closed her eyes, she sensed that the ocean was calming down as so as Oceanus’s accelerated heart.

Hello everyone!
I'm so terribly sorry for taking so long. College got into the way and well, finally I felt super inspired to write another part for this story.
I translated Oceanus's thought on Google translator and they're in Latin, if there is any mistake I'm sorry but unfortunately, I'm not a master of Latin yet.
Next part will be the last. Any theories?
Thank you for your recs, subscriptions and comments!
