What Lies Within

The Cursed Necklace

"I'm thinking about planning something for the Hogsmeade trip." Draco says as him and his wife lay in bed one Friday night. They were in the Room of Requirement and had been in here since classes had ended hours ago. It had been a long time since they'd been intimate, they'd missed each other in that way.

"What do you mean plan something?" Sophie asked, lifting her head from his chest to look at him.

"Well... don't be mad but... I've kind of been doing things behind your back." Sophie sits up, glaring down at him.

"Draco, we're supposed to be doing things together." He sighs, sitting up as well. He really didn't want to argue with her, not after the wonderful evening they had just had.

I know, I just wanted to do this myself."

"So what did you do? What are you planning?" She asks. "Or are you going to keep that a secret too?" He sighs, shaking his head.

"I have Madame Rosmerta under the imperious curse." He mumbles, making his wife gasp.

"Why on earth do you have her under the imperious curse?" Sophie questioned him. She stands up from the bed, reaching for her discarded robes, quickly dressing while Draco watches, not answering her question. "Well?" She puts her hands on her hips, looking down on the bed at him.

"I had a cursed necklace from Borgin and Burkes mailed to her. She's going to give it to a Hogwarts girl next weekend, put her under the imperious curse and make her give it to Dumbledore. It's a long shot, I'm not sure it'll work, but it's worth a shot... right?" Draco runs a hand through his hair. "I just.. if by chance this works, I won't really be to blame, I couldn't be found out and I wouldn't have a hand in his actual death." Sophie couldn't help but see just how afraid Draco was. She sighed and went to sit beside him on the bed again.

"You could have just told me about it." She mumbles, resting her head on his chest. He wraps his arm around her waist, holding her close.

"I just wanted as few people to know about it. If you for some reason get questioned, I wanted you to be clueless so you couldn't be blamed or get in trouble." He explains, making her nod. Just then her stomach gives a large growl, making them both nod. "Dinner should be starting soon, want to head down?"

"Yes, please." He laughs and releases her, standing up to get dressed. When she stands up, he pulls her into his arms, kissing her lips gently.

"I'm so in love with you." He whispers. She grins, her heart racing. She had no idea that she could ever love someone so passionately as she did this man.

As the next few days passed, Sophie tried to stay out of anything to do with Hogsmeade and Draco's plans.

"So... I have detention on Saturday." Draco tells his wife as the two walk down the corridor following Transfiguration.

"What did you do, Dray?" She questions, shifting her books in her arms. Draco reaches over, taking them from her to carry them himself.

"Haven't done my homework." He shrugs. "That's fine though. I have an alibi for the necklace thing now." He whispers.

"Yeah... but now I'm going to be alone in Hogsmeade." She mumbles, pouting. He smiles and leans over to kiss her cheek.

"Hang out with Potter, Weasley and Granger or something." He offers, making her nod. They arrive at the Great Hall for lunch and go find a seat at the Slytherin table. Pansy slides into the seat across from them, grinning.

"Ready for Hogsmeade this weekend?" She asks as they all dig into their food.

"I'm not going." Draco tells her, shrugging. Pansy frowns.

"Why ever not? It's the first trip of term, you have to go." Sophie shakes her head. Will Pansy ever learn to back off? Draco was taken, forever.

"I have detention." Draco answers.

"Oh well... Sophie... do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me?" She asks her old friend hopefully. Sophie frowned. The two of them were hardly friends anymore, not since she started dating Draco.

"I can't. I'm going with the trio." Sophie hadn't okayed that with the trio yet, but she was sure it would be alright, it usually was.

"Oh okay... So... are you guys on the Quidditch team this year?" She wondered. "I haven't heard anything about it."

"Yes, we are." Draco answers, Sophie nodding.

"I heard Potter is Gryffindor Captain." Pansy sneers, making Sophie roll her eyes. "He'll do dreadful, like he always does. He's just doing it for attention."

"I'm going to go, I have some homework to finish before class." That was a lie of course, Sophie had her homework finished before dinner last night, she just couldn't stand another second with Pansy.

"I'll see you later, babe." Draco says. Sophie nods, starting to get up but Draco takes her hand, pulling her back down. Sophie frowns at him before his lips are on hers. She grins against his mouth, kissing him back just as enthusiastically as he was kissing her. He tasted like mashed potatoes. "I love you."

"And I love you." She pecks his lips once more before standing up. She grins at Pansy, who looked like she wanted to scream and punch someone, most likely Sophie. "See you." With that she leaves the table and then the Great Hall.

Two days later, and it was the day of the Hogsmeade trip. When the couple wake up, Draco heads to detention with McGonagall, while Sophie bundles up and heads to find the trio, who said that she could come with them.

"Hey, Sophie!" Harry greets when he sees her. They then line up, having to go through the search process by Filch. Once they pass that, they head out into the cold, ready to go find somewhere warm. They head from shop to shop before deciding to head to the three broomsticks, ready for some warm butterbeer.

"It's way too cold." Ron mutters. So, they decide to just head back to the castle after a few hours of being in the cold town. The warm heated castle sounded more inviting. Besides, Draco's detention was surely over, or almost over.

As they were walking, Sophie saw Katie Bell and her friend in front of them, they seemed to be arguing.

"I wonder what's going on with them." Sophie mumbles. Then, Katie gave a loud scream, dropping whatever it was in her hand. She continues screaming and then suddenly shots up into the air. She dangles in the air, her mouth open in a silent scream before she slams back onto the ground. Sophie and Hermione gasp, gripping at each others arms.

Sophie couldn't help but worry that this was who Rosmerta had cursed to bring the necklace to Dumbledore. Had Katie touched the necklace? Oh no. She wasn't going to die, was she?

The next things to happen were a blur, Hagrid rushed to them, taking Katie and then they were taken to McGonagall who demanded to know what happened. It was the cursed necklace and Harry was pretty adamant that it was Draco.

"Draco was in detention, Harry." Sophie tells him, McGonagall confirming it with a nod.

"I still think he did it. Or maybe he got you to do it." Harry spat at the teen in front of him, who raised her eyebrows. "Your precious little Draco wanted you to do something for him, and of course you can't resist sweet Draco."

"Excuse me? Draco and I had nothing to do with Katie. I was with you and Draco was in detention. There's no way it could have been either of us!" Sophie yelled back. It seemed this back and forth would never end with Harry. They couldn't stay friends without beginning to hate each other soon after. Was this what their friendship came down to now that she was with Draco? Did Harry not trust her as he once had?

"I do not believe it was either of you, Sophie. You all may go." McGonagall dismisses them. Harry storms from the room, the other two hanging back with Sophie.

"I'm so sorry, Sophie." Hermione says, but Sophie shakes her head.

"Draco and I honestly had nothing to do with this. How could we have?" Sophie really hoped she was being convincing.

"Of course, we know that. Harry does too, he's just all about Draco for some reason. He thinks he was made a Death Eater." Ron explains, making Sophie laugh.

"That's still just so ridiculous." Sophie shakes her head. "I should go. I'll see you around." She gives them each a quick hug before heading to where she knew Draco would be.

"Your plan didn't work and Harry thinks you and I did it." Sophie calls to her husband as she steps into the Room of Requirement. She gets to the cabinet to see Draco messing with the door. He turns to her, sighing.

"Potter will get over it." He says, walking over to her. He takes her in his arms, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her lips. "I've missed you." Sophie laughs, resting her hands on his chest.

"I just saw you like three hours ago, Dray." She jokes, making him shrug.

"I'd prefer to spend every second with you. I miss you even if you are gone for a second."

"Wow, my husband the romantic." He grins down at her.

"I try." Sophie laughs, shaking her head.

"Come on, it's lunch time and I'm hungry." She takes his hand, pulling him out of the room. He looks back at the cabinet and sighs before following.

"Yes, my lady."
