'Cause Baby I'm a Dreamer for Sure

Chapter 24

I woke up to Brooks kissing me gently, my eyes fluttered open to find he was showered and dressed for the day. I sent him a small smile before sitting up and stretching.

"Sorry to wake you, but I want to head out kind of early." I looked at him with a confused face, and then I remembered.

"Today's our date night isn't it?" I groaned upset with myself for forgetting.

"Yeah, but we can go some other time if you want." He said. He tried to hide the hurt, but I could see the sadness in his eyes.

"No I want to go, I just forgot about it with all that happened last night." I said placing my hand on his knee. He grinned at me, his eyes lighting up when he did.

"Alright, do you mind going ahead and getting ready then?"

"No, but can you tell me where we're going?" I asked as I got out of bed and grabbed some clothes. Brooks apparently had done some laundry because there was a pile of our shirts at the foot of the bed freshly washed.

"It's a surprise, oh and I washed a few of your shirts. Hope you don't mind that I went through your bag, I just thought you could use some clean things to wear."

"I don't mind, I went through your clothes as well, but thank you." I said hugging him, he hugged me back and placed a sweet kiss to my head.

"I'll let you get ready now, love you." He said letting me go and heading for the door.

"Love you too." I called after him; he sent me one last smile before disappearing down the hall. I got dressed in some skinnies and a T-shirt before brushing my teeth and hair and rinsing my face off. I applied a little bit of makeup and debated on braiding my hair or wearing a beanie, I decided on the beanie since I hadn't worn one in a while, and headed to meet Brooks in the kitchen. He had baked pasta again, but this one was a little different, instead of cheese it had some type of Alfredo sauce or something of the sorts, but it was amazing either way. Once the dishes were in the washer we headed out.

We had been driving for a while now, and me not knowing much about Florida had no idea where we were. I did know we were near the ocean because I could smell it through my open window.

"Brooks are we almost there yet?" I asked for the millionth time, usually receiving a not yet, but this time he smiled stealing a quick glance at me.

"Yeah just a few more miles to go, maybe ten or twenty minutes, give or take a few." He said and I grinned at him before looking out my window again. Sooner than I expected we were on small roads again and my assumption about the ocean was right, it could be seen here and there as we drove to wherever Brooks was taking me. We got caught by a red light and Brooks took this time to lace our fingers together and place a kiss on my hand. "Almost there, just a few more minutes." I beamed at him my excitement growing.

A few minutes passed and we pulled up to a house I didn't recognize. Brooks just smiled letting go of my hand and getting out of the car. I followed suit, putting a smile on my face even if I was completely confused at where we were. Brooks began to unlock the door, my first thought being that he had brought me to meet his parents, but he soon shot down that guess without even knowing it.

"This is where the guys and I usually come to write songs, I thought I'd share it with you." He said opening the door and allowing me to step through first. The inside looked familiar to me and then I realized I had seen it in one of their videos.

"This is y'all's beach house isn't it?!" I asked excitedly earning a smile from Brooks.

"Yeah, I was hoping you wouldn't be mad at me for taking you here for our date."

"I'm not mad at all, I love the beach, and I’ve only been a couple of times though as a kid. Can we go down to the water?" I was practically jumping with excitement now.

"Yeah of course, but go change first."

"Okay, where?" I asked, Brooks had told me to bring my swimsuit with me before we left.

"Down the hall and the second door on the left is the bathroom and the first door on the right is the room Derek and I usually share." He said pointing towards the hallway.

"Okay be right back." I said with a smile as I ran to the bathroom and changed. I was wearing a yellow and black top that tied behind my neck and went down over my stomach and black short bottoms. I wasn't one of those girls who wore bikinis and showed off their body, I just wasn't so confident with myself like some were. I was just plain, and really had no reason to be showy.

I left the bathroom with my clothes in hand and noticed the door Brooks said was his and Derek's room, was open and when I looked in I noticed Brooks' jeans lying in the bed and laid my clothes beside his. I left the room heading back into the living room to find Brooks putting the few drinks and snacks we brought away. He was still wearing his shirt, but had changed into his swimsuit and he was too busy putting things away he didn't notice me come in the room. I walked up as quietly behind him as possible and wrapped my arms around him laying my head on his back.

"I didn't even hear you come up." He laughed turning to face me and causing me to let go of him. Once he was turned he leaned against the counter and pulled me close to him. I smiled up at him as I placed my hands on his exposed chest; he had the buttons of his shirt undone.

"You weren't supposed to hear me." I said sounding childish, Brooks just laughed in response and leaned down to kiss me. "Can we go to the water now?" I asked when we pulled apart.

"Yeah, let's go." Brooks said as we began to make our way to the back door. He slipped of his shirt and laid it on a chair before taking my hand as we left the house and walked down to the beautiful ocean. I walked barefoot through the sand with Brooks until I was where the water would come to my ankles when it hit land.

"It's beautiful." I said as I looked out at the crashing waves and immediately thought of a couple of Mayday songs that mentioned the ocean in some way. I finally tore my eyes away from the view to look at Brooks only to find that he was staring at me the entire time. "Thank you for bringing me here, I love it." I said letting go of his hand and wrapping my arms around his waist.

"You're welcome, I thought you might like coming to the beach and get your mind of everything." He said his arms wrapping around me as well keeping me close to his side.

"I wish I been able to come to the beach more as a kid, but we were never really near an ocean, but I'm glad I can spend this moment with you." I looked up at him just as he looked down at me, both of us leaning towards each other and our lips coming together gently. "Let's get go a bit further into the water." I said as I took his hand again, but before I could go three steps he tore his hand away, picked me up and after carrying me a ways into the water then tossed me in.

"How could you?!" I said when I resurfaced trying to surprise a laugh, but failing at it and splashing him with the water. He splashed back, but made his way over to me. I backed up but got to where I could hardly stand and he finally caught me, snaking his arms around my waist. I ended up wrapping my legs around him since I couldn't stand anyways and trusted him to keep my head above water. We sat there for a moment, just staring into each other's eyes, until I couldn't resist any longer and brought my lips to his placing my arms around his neck pulling him as close as I could, and went to tangle my fingers in his hair. I smiled into the kiss and he pulled away in response.

"What?" He asked smiling back, he didn't realize what I had tried to do.

"Just laughing at myself, I told you this hair cut would take some getting used to. I have no more ginger curls to run my hands through." I laughed bringing my hand over his hair as I spoke.

"You might again one day, depends." He said with a smile and leaving me to guess.

"Depends on what?" I asked, but still received no answer as his lips met mine again.

The sun was beginning to set, we had spent most of the day in the water, and now I was sitting on a blanket we laid out, waiting for Brooks to return with our drinks. I was lost in my own little world with my head feasting on my knees until I felt Brooks pull me back into his chest and handed me my drink. We had eaten a wonderful dinner thanks to Brooks' amazing cooking skills as usual and now we were enjoying the stunning sunset before us.

"Beautiful isn't it?" I asked taking a sip of my beer and letting my hand rest on Brooks' leg.

"Yeah, but I know something even more beautiful." He said and I knew he was going to pull that cheesy line, but I didn't care, I just went right along with it.

"And what might that be?" I asked with a smile.

"You, wearing this." He held out a box for me and when I opened it, a beautiful necklace with a heart pendant was delicately placed in it. I turned to In Brooks' arms so I could look at him.

"It's, Brooks it's," I was struggling with my words, I had never had someone present such a lovely gift to me before just because they felt like it, there always had to be an occasion, but not this time.

Tears came to my eyes as I looked from the necklace to Brooks, finally a smile spread across my face as I looked up at Brooks. "It's perfect." I said before kissing him suddenly, he was a bit shocked at first but soon got over it as he laid back pulling me down with him. When we broke apart we just smiled at each other getting lost in the other's eyes for a while everything seemed unreal, but I knew I wasn't dreaming. I couldn't help but smile as I lay my head on his chest, his arms held me close and he ran a hand through my hair.

"So, I'm guessing you liked the necklace." He said with a chuckle.

"I love it, thank you." I said looking up at him.

"You're welcome. Why don't we go in now?" Brooks said and I agreed. We picked up everything we had brought out and headed towards the house. Once everything was away, we went to change back into normal clothes and cuddled in the couch.

"We're staying here tonight right?" I asked I knew the answer already since we had a bag with some clothes in it.

"That's what I planned, is that okay with you?" He asked looking down at me.

"Just fine." I said as I sat up some and kissed him deeply. His hands slid to my hips while I rested a hand on the side of his face. We stopped after a while and a yawn escaped my lips.

"C'mon Love, let's go to bed." Brooks said as he stood from the couch and pulled me up with him leading me to the bedroom. He pulled off his shirt as usual and crawled in the bed right after me, for a moment he leaned over me with a smile on his lips. I looked back at him placing my hands on his arms, and soon he came down and kissed me. It started off gently, but grew more passionate and ended way too soon for my liking. He laughed at my pout before lying on his back, pulling me with him and I snuggle as close as I could, resting my head on his chest.

"I love you Brooks." I mumbled sleep beginning to take me.

"I love you too Annamarie, sweet dreams." He said kissing my head; I remember his arms tightening around me before I became captive to sleep.
