Alone Until I Met You

The End

***Must read until the end!!!***

I beat my fist against Colt’s cold chest as hard as I could while screaming his name, but no matter how loud I yelled it or how hard I hit him, his eyes remained closed. Tears were streaming down my checks as I fell on top of his chest and wept into him. My mate was dead. To know that I would never again hear the sound of his raspy voice, feel the hard touch of his warm caress, or smell his woodsy clover like scent tore me apart. My heart literally felt as if it had been ground down while still beating inside of my chest and then ferociously eaten by some cold creature of despair.

I don’t know how long I stayed there weeping into his unbeating chest; I had no way of knowing. Everything around me had faded into nothing, any sounds that had been made were lost in my cries, because nothing mattered to me anymore. My mate was gone, taken, killed, murdered. The fate that we had shared of being together for the rest of our lives was ripped away as if it was nothing more than a loose end on a giant quilt.

I lifted my head up from his chest and touched a hand to his perfectly chiseled cheek. My body willed for his eyes to open one last time, it called to his soul, to his heart, but still they would not open even though I already knew that I would never see the way his green eyes sparkled when he looked at me. I rubbed my shaking fingers against his cheek, like I had done countless times before and felt the long jagged scar underneath it.

I whimpered at the feel of that scar under my palm. It was the same scar that Colt had gotten when he had protected me from Kirk, on the day that he had saved my life, shown me the light to my loneness in the woods. To be reminded of that moment and knowing that it had not been that long ago made me feel cheated. Our fate our love had only just started to grow but now it was over, finished, just like that.

My body shook with more hate and despair before I fell back against him and cried some more. I cried until my tears ran out and my voice went hoarse. My body felt weak and beaten but my soul only felt sadness.

“It’s time to go Allie,” I turned my head until my cheek was firmly pressed down against Colt’s chest and looked up. Jackie’s eyes were red and her cheeks were puffy while she kneeled down beside me, her arms resting against my back like a light hug. I didn’t know for sure how long she had been kneeling beside me but something told me that it had been awhile.

My gaze traveled up to the dark shadow beside her. The dark shadows that played under his eyes and his gaunt face were meaningless to me. It wasn’t until I looked more closely at his dull brown eyes that I finally recognized Linc. His face was pale and sober of any emotions. His eyes that were fixated on Colt, was the only thing that gave away any sort of emotion. In those deep brown eyes were the feelings of failure from being incapable of saving his best friends life.

I lifted myself up off of my mate inch by inch and reach out to Linc. My fingers touched the tips of his and he automatically yanked his hand away from me and looked down at the floor. I felt a sad smile turn my lips as I reached for him again and when he tried jerking away again I simply tighten my grip. His eyes were murky as his stared back at me and I could see the shame and depression there.

“I don’t blame you,” I hoarsely spoke. “You tried.”

His hand tightened around mine. “I let him slip away. His soul slipped away from me and no matter how much I fixed his body….he didn’t come back.”

I felt the back of my throat grow wet as I nodded weakly up at him. “I know Linc, I know but it’s not your fault.”

He shook his head at me. “I have all of this power and still I wasn’t strong enough….I’m sorry. I’m so sorry Allie.”

Tears gathered in my eyes once more but I held them back this time and shook our hands lightly. “There was nothing you could have done Linc. Colt-” My voice broke at speaking his name out loud so I drew in a quick breath and started again. “Colt knew the risks for coming for me, knew that there was a chance he was going to die in this fight. Every werewolf knows that they could die at any moment and he was prepared.”

He shook his head more vigorously at me and opened his mouth to speak but a groan cut him off. My attention snapped over to the body that was shifting on the floor near my chains. I felt my nostrils flare with hatred and my fangs crave the taste of its blood. In a second I was next to him, pushing his neck into the wall behind him and cutting off his air. The feel of his blood pulsing through the vein in his neck infuriated me even more. Knowing that my mate’s killer was still alive while he was lying on the floor cold and lifeless made my clawed fingers twitch.

With just one snap I could end him. I could take his life, like he had taken my mates. My grip was tightening around him, aching to do it but then I saw his dead black eyes. Not once out of all of our encounters had any form of real emotion played in those eyes until now. He looked pleased and happy but not with the fact that he had finally ended it all no, the look in his eyes was something greater than that. It was as if he was happy with the way things had turned out. I tightened my grip on his neck even more and snarled down at him. I waited for him to squirm or try and fight back but he just let his eyes close accepting of his fate.

With a sick feeling in my stomach I let my hand fall away from his neck before picking myself up. Linc must have healed me at some point because my wounds weren’t bothering me or restricting me anymore. With ease I walked back over to Colt and kneeled down beside him.

“What are you doing?” A rough yet worn voice boomed from behind me.

I leaned closer to my mate and lanced my fingers with his. My thumb roamed over his unfeeling hand in a tender like motion. Kirk grunted and groaned as he tried to move away from the wall that he was propped up against. “Are you stupid? That’s just an empty corpse. Your mate is dead I killed him with my bare hands. Doesn’t that make you pissed? Don’t you want revenge?”

I tightened my grip around Colt’s hand and gazed up at his face. His eyes lids were closed shut as if he was resting, his lips were partly open, and his pale complexion made him look more sickly than dead. This image of him was branded into my mind.

With a shaky breath I looked away from my love and towards the man who had killed him. Hatred brewed up inside of me from merely looking at him but I held myself back from doing anything. “You can taunt me all you want Kirk but no matter what you say or do I will not be the one to end your pathetic life.”

His features paled even more but his gaze was heated with rage. “Why not?” He snarled. “You foolish stupid cunt! If you let me live I’ll take everything away from you!”

“You already have.” I turned my head away from him and looked at Colt. “My mate is dead and my friends are more than capable of taking care of themselves. There is nothing else that you can do to me, nothing more for you to steal away.”

“I’ll take your life!” He shouted out. “I’ll kill you too.”

A cold laugh ripped through my lips. “No you won’t.” I pushed a few lose strands of hair out of my face. “You’ve had your fill of bloodshed and pain, that’s why you want me to kill you isn’t it? You’re tired of living this lonely life away from Hailey and because you have granted me the same fate as you have had you think that I’ll do your binding, but I’m sorry to tell you that I won’t follow in your footsteps.”

“What?”

I looked over at him. “You lived your life with a heart filled with rage and vengeance. And though I despise you for killing my mate I will not kill you, because I know that living will cause you more pain. Now that your wrath and blood thirst have been quenched you will feel what I feel, a painful and lonely existence.”

The blood drained from his face as he stared at me completely horrified with what I had said. My own bloodlust lessened a little once I had decided his fate. At first I wanted to bath in his blood but when I saw his carefree expression I knew that if I killed him I would be no better than him and that sickened me.

Slowly I picked myself up from my ground and looked over at Jackie and Linc. There expressions were pale as well but I could only assume that it was because of shock. I made my way over to the pair and grasped Jackie’s hands between my own. “I am so grateful to have had a friend like you Jackie, and though I wish I could stay and watch you blessed life bloom I think that it would be better for me if I returned to the forest.”

Jackie tightened our bond. “No,” Her head shook as she took a step closer to me. “No you can’t leave Allie, it’s not what Colt would have wanted. He wouldn’t want you to be alone like that!”

“I know but I can’t stay. I can’t live in a place that’s surrounded with memories of him.”

“Please,” She begged with tearful eyes. “Please don’t do this.”

I took a step closer to her and pulled her into a hug. She wept into my shoulder and I tightened my arms around her. “I’m sorry but I have too.”

I looked over at Linc whose gaze was glued to mine and I mustered up the best smile I could give. “You’d better take care of her Linc,”

His lips drew into a thin line before he curtly nodded to me. “I will.”

I was about to nod back but then thought of something else. “One more thing Linc.”

“Anything.”

“I need you to make sure that Kirk lives as long as I do.”

One of his dark brows fell. “Allie?”

“He should suffer just as long as me.” I replied and pulled away from Jackie. I took a stern step towards the God and notched my chin up to meet his gaze dead on. “Promise me.”

His brown eyes strayed away from me for a moment as he seized up the wounded and broken wolf. Linc set his jaw with a snap before looking back at me. “I promise.”

“Thank you.” I reached over and tapped my hand to his shoulder. “For everything that you’ve done for me Linc.”

Linc’s gaze fell to the ground. “If only I could have done more for you-

“You did the best you could.”

His long shaggy brown hair pelted the side of his face as he shook his head at me. “It wasn’t enough though. If only I had used something else.”

I felt myself frown at him. “Like what?”

Linc’s Point of View

The current broke away from me at that exact moment. The possible door to fate snapped shut before my eyes and I was thrown back into my own mindset. It was almost as if I had been thrown back in time and dropped back down at the time when I had been healing Colt’s still alive body but the truth was that the vision that I had just gotten finished viewing hadn’t even happened yet. In fact there was a chance that it would never happen because at this moment, this time, anything was possible. The small look into the future hadn’t been what I had been expecting but the information that I had gathered there was very useful especially with the way things were going now.

Bolts were surging out from my hands and zapping the large wound on Colt’s stomach his body was already, cold his life faded, but with the small premonition I knew what I had to do to. Going back into my own mind I searched for something in my soul, a power that only a God would have and tapped into it. The blue lightening coursing out of my hands turned white and seared the skin on my hands.

The gash along Colt’s stomach closed in and instant but I wasn’t done yet. I slapped my hands down onto his bare chest and sent another bolt through him. His body jerked up from the power of my blast but I still didn’t feel the current from his life force return. I ground my teeth together in frustration and dug deeper into my soul, finding a reserved sort of power there and quickly tapped into it. Another bolt surged out of my body and into his.

In that split second I felt his own small current return right before his eyes flashed open and a gasped escaped from his mouth. I felt the heaviness on shoulders wither away as I watched my dear friend taking in large gulps of air. I leaned over and helped him into a sitting position so that he could breathe properly. His face turned red with color as he lifted a hand to his throat. His eyes scanned from side to side searching for the one person that he had risked his life to protect. Allison was trembling beside him, her body still masked in blood and dirt, but that didn’t stop her from throwing her arms around him. The moment that they embraced each one another I quickly sent a blue bolt through Allison and in a flash her body was completely healed.

I fell back onto my ass and placed a hand over my beating heart. I had used up a lot of energy bringing Colt’s soul back and now I felt as weak as a mortal but still my immortally was intact. A smile grew on my face as another path of the future revealed itself to me. It was a vision that I tapped into often and craved to have, in a place where everything turned out the way it was meant to be, but to get to this paradise I would have to give up a very large piece of myself. My life.

Allie’s Point Of View

When Colt’s eyes flickered open I felt my heart start back up in my chest and when those gorgeous green orbs locked onto mine my chest ached even more. He was alive! I felt my lips turn into a smile as tears streamed down my cheeks and dripped off my chin. I scrambled to get closer to him and threw myself down against his chest. He was alive!

Colt’s body felt stiff and cold like a dead corpse but slowly his heat was building back up inside. I felt him shudder against me as I wept happily into his thumping chest. But his arms stayed frozen beside him. I pulled away from him slightly and frowned up at his drawn expression. “Colt?”

He averted his gaze from me then and looked up at the leaky ceiling. “I think it would be better if you didn’t hold me like that Allie.”

I frowned even more at him. “Excuse me?”

He let out a grunt before running a shaking hand through his dishelmed hair. “If you keep holding me like that I might get the wrong idea.”

My nose crinkled with confusion as well as a little irritation. My mate had just been saved from a near death experience and he did want me to hold him? “Wrong idea about what?”

This,” He slid his hand down from his hair and gestured to the space separating us. “I know that what I did was unforgivable and you have every right to hate me-

I place a hand over his lips and glared down at him. “I could never hate you.”

He frowned up at me in frustration and removed my hand from his lips. “But you do. You have too. I killed Hailey, I killed my best friends mate and at the time my girlfriend.”

“Colt.” I whispered as I gripped his hand tightly. “You killed another werewolf…it’s not an uncommon thing.”

“But I killed Hailey!” He nearly shouted and tugged his hand away from mine.

I could see how much this was tearing him up inside so I let out a sigh and said, “If you’re so bent up on making me hate you then why don’t you just tell me how it all happened.”

He lowered his head until his chin was brushing against his chest, his hair shadowing over his eyes and face until I was unable to make out a single feature. “Alright.” He scoffed in a low voice. “You already know that we had been dating for over two years, but what you didn’t know is that I thought of Hailey as my mate even though we weren’t. When Hailey found out that her mate was Kirk I lost it. I felt so betrayed and hurt that I didn’t want to believe what I was hearing. I grabbed ahold of her and tried shaking some sense into her but….I hadn’t grown into my new strength yet and I ended up snapping her neck. “

“Colt,” I whispered and brushed his hair away from his face. “It was an accident.”

“But I killed her!” He hissed out. “I made Kirk into a monster because of it and I kept it hidden from you all of this time.”

I moved my hand to his chin and raised his head up so that we were staring into each other’s eyes. “I love you.”

He cringed. “Don’t say that.”

I leaned closer and whispered. “I will always love you.” I pressed my lips gently against his and felt the warm spark light a fire through my veins. “And I will always stay by your side.”

The stiffness in him loosened beneath my touch. I felt his arms encircle me before he drew me closer to him. His head fell to the side of my neck, right above The Mark, and his warm breath caressed my skin. “Forgive me.”

I ran my hands into his hair and cradled him against me. “Always.”

“So wait,” My attention snapped over to where Linc was standing. His eyes were glued on the tow of us. “This whole thing happened because Colt accidently killed Kirk’s mate?”

“Linc,” I said in a warning tone. “Just let it go.”

He shook his head at me just as a smile started to broad over his lips. “Why didn’t you guys tell me this sooner?” He tossed his head back with a laugh and then walked over to Six’s dead corpse. “You know we really need to work on our communication skills.”

Before we could even ask him what he was talking about he opened his palms over the torn body and let his sparks fly. Blue, white and even a bit of gold flashed out from his hands with a booming crack. The corpse was consumed with in a brilliant bright light, moving and reforming like some unstable thing.

A loud shrilling scream came out of the orb making the hair on the back of my neck and arms was standing up straight. The sound had been ferial and almost inhuman but it was also something that I couldn’t imagine lightening making either. Like anything that was unstable the flickering ball sunk into itself, growing small and more condensed until suddenly the ball erupted. The flash consumed the room with a pure white color.

I shielded my eyes from the bright flashed by turning into Colt. I felt the bolt of electricity skim along my arms and waist but instead of feeling a burning sensation I only felt a light tingle. When the bright flash had finally subsided I removed my head from Colt and stared at the place where the once bright ball had been.

Her body was bare and trembling beneath her as if she was a new born pup. Her long blonde hair obscured half of her face as it tumbled down in waves passed her shoulders. Her dainty hands shook as she wrapped them around her pale body. Seeing as how this person had been created from Six’s body I had almost expected her to look like her but there were no similarities. Her blonde hair was longer and brighter than Six’s. Her body was lengthier and more slender than hers, and her face was more oval shaped and matured. Standing there with a pair of wide sky blue eyes was a woman that I had only seen once in a picture.

“Hailey?” Kirk’s voice was the first to ring out and instantly my attention snapped over to the wounded man leaning against the stoned wall. His black eyes shined with something that I had never seen in him before.

The blonde head snapped over to his direction at the sound of her name. Her knees shook beneath her as soon as her eyes locked onto his. Her red lips trembled as she tried to pronounce something. “K-Kirk?”

Hailey’s legs gave out from under her and she fell to the cold ground. Her fabulous blue eyes clouded with tears as she stared over at her mate. “Kirk!” She cried out to him.

Kirk face was contorted with disbelief and awe as he struggled to move away from the wall. Each struggled to make their body’s move and bend to their wills, both aching from lack of strength they slid along the floor towards one another. With outstretched hands I watched in awe as their fingers brushed against the others. Then suddenly they were together. Their arms wrapped around the other in a heated and long awaited embrace. They cried the other’s name as they sat there trembling and weeping.

“Why are Allie and my husband the only two here with clothes on?” I pulled my attention away from Hailey and Kirk and looked at the very confused Jackie standing in the doorway. Her eyebrows were pinched together and her arms were folded over her chest.

Linc turned to her then with the biggest, goofiest grin that I had ever seen. “Jacquelyn,”

Her lips puckered into a pout as she glared at her husband. “Oh don’t you Jacquelyn me. I want to know what the hell is going on. You said that we had to rush over here because Allie was in grave danger.” She looked over at me and pointed a finger. “She’s sitting on her naked mates lap, she looks damn fine to me.”

“Jackie,” Linc hummed her name like a sweet lullaby.

She stabbed a finger in his direction and took a threaten step closer. “I swear to God Linc that if you don’t hurry your ass up and get back to my parents’ house I will beat your immortal ass into oblivion.”

“Well that’s going to be easier to do now.” He took a step closer to her.

“Excuse me?” She snapped back in a tone that only a pregnant wife could make.

Linc however didn’t seem fazed by it at all. “I’m mortal.”

The thin crease in her brow lessened as her eyes grew wide. “What?”

“Do you remember what I told you about bringing people back from the dead?” He asked as he closed the distance between them.

Jackie nodded her head. “You said that it was impossible.”

He grabbed ahold of her elbows and slowly dragged her closer to him. “No sweetheart it’s not impossible, we are just forbidden to do it.”

“Okay but what does that have to do with anything?”

He grinned happily down at her. “Because I just did it twice,”

Jackie’s fingers dug into his shirt as she gripped him tightly in fear. “Who died?”

“Colt for a brief moment but he’s fine now and then there’s Hailey who ended up being the whole cause of this feud.”

“Hailey was dead!” Jackie exclaimed and scanned the room. Her eyes fell to Kirk and Hailey who were still in their tight embrace whispering fervently to the other.

“Yeah she was dead but that’s not the point anymore the point is that I’ve been seriously punished.” Linc smugly cooed. “I’ve had my powers and immortality stripped away!”

“And that’s a good thing?” Jackie worriedly clung closer to her husband as if he was going to keel over any moment.

Linc rolled his eyes at her. “Of course it’s a good thing now I won’t have to live a long painful existence without you.”

Jackie face paled despite the supposedly happy news. “That doesn’t make me feel better.”

“Why not?”

“Because now you can die!” She shook him slightly. “What if you die before me? How the hell am I supposed to cope with something like that!”

He let out a hearty laugh before leaning down and kissing her soundly on the mouth. “Then I guess we’ll just both have to die at the same time.”

“I guess that will do then.” She smiled up at him before sinking into his embrace.

The moment seemed to be all too private and I turned my head away and looked down at Colt. His eyes were glued to Hailey but I knew that it was in an awestruck kind of moment and that was all. I tapped my hand to his cheek and turned his gaze to me. “So now that you’re alive, Hailey’s back, Linc’s a mortal, and hopefully Kirk will become a civilized werewolf, is there anything else that we are forgetting about?”

“My god, I don’t even know what to say.”

I leaned my forehead against his and whispered. “Say that you’ll never hide anything from me again.”

He touched a hand to my cheek. “No more secrets.”

I felt my eyes grow wet with tears. “Say that you’ll be there for me.”

“Always.” He huskily whispered back.

“Give me lots of pups.”

A big wolfish grin grew on his face. “As soon as possible.”

“Say that you love me.”

He knotted his hands in my hair and tugged me closer to him. “I’ve loved you since the first time I saved you.”

A laugh bubbled up in my throat but before it could reach my lips Colt smashed his mouth against mine. I wrapped my arms around him and ate at everything he was giving me. This happiness and love was so overwhelming that it felt as if it was oozing out of my pores and I knew that none of this would have been possible if I hadn’t followed him out of the forest that fateful day. For once I had made the right choice, for once I had found love, and for the rest of my life he would be there to shower me in it. My mate, my love, my Colt.
