Lonely Boy

Oh, oh-oh I got a love that keeps me waiting

I stand two feet away from Rhett. We're facing each other, and he looks at me, his eyes slightly glossy and his fists balled up at his side.

"Rhett, are you—"

He cuts me off. "Why didn't you tell me that your mom is my therapist?" His voice breaks slightly and his words are shaky.

I'm taken back. "I didn't think that it mattered."

"Of course it matters. I trusted you, and I-I," he says, not finishing his sentence.

"She never told me anything, Rhett. All I know about what you're going through is from what you told me."

"I don't believe you," he scowls, his demeanor changing instantly, and I want to cry. He falls to the ground with his head in his hands. I can't help but bend down next to him and put my arms around him. He shakes me away. "I-I just need you to leave," he says. I reluctantly do as he says and walk home with my eyes as glossy as his has been.
