Status: Happy Birthday Boo!

Birthday Surprise

one shot!

Anna paced back in forth in the apartment that she shared with her boyfriend of eight months, Kiowa. He was out filming for his latest movie, which normally didn’t bother her but today was her birthday and he hadn’t even called.

She absentmindedly bit down on her thumb nail as she tidied up the already clean living room. Really, she just needed something to do with her hands to keep her from calling him. It’s her birthday after all, she shouldn’t be the one making the phone call this time.

Her phone beeped from across the room and she couldn’t help but to feel excited as she ran to it. But her heart sank when she saw that the message was only one from her friend asking to borrow a top the next day. Anna sighed before typing her response and dramatically throwing her phone onto the coffee table.

There was a knock on the front door, but Anna didn’t feel like answering it. Instead she flopped onto her couch and sighed. Her knees rested against her rest as she flipped the tv on. But the knocking at the door just wouldn’t stop. Anna slammed her feet down onto the carpeted floor and stomped over to the door.

When she flung it open, she was face to face with over a dozen roses. She gasped, her eyes widening as she grabbed the card from them. The only words written were “love you boo” in sloppy hand writing. The only overly sloppy handwriting that she knew of belonged to Kiowa.

Anna took the flowers from the delivery guy and shut the door, not paying him any mind while she got a new vase for the roses and set them on the coffee table. Her hands were shaking a little as she nicely arranged them, groaning slightly when another knock came from the door.

She wasted no time in answering it, wanting to get back to fixing her flowers before they started to wilt. This time when she answered the door a giant teddy bear almost smacked her right in the nose.

“Oh.” she gasped softly, taking the overstuffed toy and dragging it into the apartment. The card that was tapped to this one simply had a smiley face drawn inside it. She grinned to herself before setting in on the couch and messing with her flowers again.

Once Anna had finished there was a third knock on the door. As she skipped to the door she couldn’t help but make her birthday wish. And she cried as she opened it, seeing that her wish came true.

Kiowa was standing on the other side of the door. A heart shaped box of candies in his hand and small smile on his face. “Hello Boo.” he said, wrapping her tightly in his arms. “Did you like the gifts?”

“This is the best one.” she answered, pressing her lips firmly to his.

“Happy Birthday Love.” he said, kissing her once more, and shutting the door to their apartment for some much needed privacy.
