Diary of a Pessimist

i don’t know when it started or where it came from, but there’s this new superhero-like identity crisis everywhere in society. it’s this mindset of “me against the world,” this mindset that you alone are the only person who can see everything as it really is, and that you alone are the only person in the world that’s right about anything. it’s this idea that you’re above everyone, that you’re different; special.

well, i hold these truths to be self-evident:

1) that if it’s you against the world, you’re probably wrong
2) that if you’re broadcasting your problems to the entire world, they’re probably not real problems
3) that if you claim you’re not doing it for the attention, you’re probably doing it for the attention
4) that the good don’t always die young, we just glorify the dead
5) that we’re all just looking out for ourselves, whether we’re willing to admit it or not
6) that you’re not fucking unique, you’re not your own individual and there is no such thing as the concept of being original
7) that people don’t change, and if they say that they did they’re probably lying
8) that we’re all going to die with nothing
