Wanted

I don't know how you do what you do

She couldn’t get the conversation out of her head. Everywhere she went the next morning, the image of Brian shirtless, guitar on his lap, and crooked smile on his face as he talked to her. His brown eyes fairly sparkled as they drank more together, via the internet. She’d drunkenly suggested that she wanted another tattoo, and he told her if she got one, so would he. She’d made him pinky promise, through the computer of course, to get one with her, so as soon as she’d woken up and immediately gone to the tattoo parlor.

She’d sent him a text of the little heart right above her thumb, along with the number ‘1’ on her top knuckle. He’d called her then, and groaned. There was no way he was going to get a heart tattooed on him. She’d laughed, reminded him that he’d pinky promised, and that wasn’t the only one she’d gotten. He agreed, hanging up the phone then. A few minutes later, she’d received a picture message. Right below his “Blue Blood” tattoo on his left pectoral muscle, he’d gotten a tiny heart. She replied back saying she loved it. The next message that came was the number ‘1’ tattooed on his thumb. She took a picture of herself smiling and sent it to him. He replied back with a winking face.

It wasn’t as if they were getting back together; they weren’t. In fact, it had taken a week of Brian texting her constantly before she even replied to him. It had then taken him another two weeks to get her to answer the phone, and yet another two weeks for her to Skype with him. She’d been cautious at first, because she didn’t want the others to know they were talking. Val and Katie had made it obvious they should cool their relationship for a while. Jimmy backed their sentiments twofold, saying they needed to stop all communication before starting up again.

The other guys had agreed, but begrudgingly. They all wanted them to get back together, because they missed everyone being happy. The other three were looking out for Eliza and Brian, knowing that if they fought again, it could be done forever.

They didn’t talk all the time, either. Jimmy had made it his personal mission to be around Brian all hours of the day, to ensure he didn’t break, but they’d tried to be sneaky. Every once in a while, Jimmy would pass out before Brian, or he’d give him a night alone, allowing him to Skype with her.

She wasn’t exactly sure what it all meant, but she knew it made her happy. She didn’t want to think about getting back together with him, and he hadn’t brought it up. They’d kept all talk of a relationship to none, and instead focused on just enjoying each other. The others wouldn’t understand if they tried to tell them about their talking now.

She smiled, looking down at her finger while she walked to the studio. The smile remained on her face until she walked into the studio. She set her bag down and picked up her guitar, making herself comfortable on one of the couches as the others trickled in.

Wiki held a cup of coffee in front of her face and she tilted her head back in thanks. She let the warm liquid fall down her throat.

“What’s that?” Dominic asked, nodding to her hand.

Since the incident where Jocelyn and Alex had tried to sabotage Eliza’s life, Dominic had taken it upon himself to become her self-appointed brother and protector. He did a good job of it, too, because he was extremely perceptive. Eliza herself was shocked he’d already seen her tattoo, but at the same time she wasn’t surprised. She should’ve known she couldn’t hide anything from him long.

“I got a new tattoo this morning,” she said, holding her hand out to him.

“What’s the ‘1’ for?” Hunter asked, leaning over to look at both of the tattoos.

“I’m number one, bitch,” Eliza said, with a grin. Hunter just looked at her.

“Did you guys pick out costumes for tonight?” Wiki asked from upside down in her chair.

“I’ve got mine,” both Dominic and Hunter said at the same time.

“I’m using the one I used last year,” Eliza said. “I’m gonna get a new one for our party in California.”

“I’m so fucking excited to meet your dudes,” Wiki said, turning around. “Will you go with me to get my costume? Is Thomas coming with us?”

“To California?” At Wiki’s nod, Eliza continued. “Yeah, he’s flying with us. You know I couldn’t travel without him. And yes, Wiki, I will go with you.”

“He’s a cute little fairy,” Wiki said, scrunching her nose. “Did you guys know that homosexual couples have longer lasting relationships than heterosexual couples?”

“I don’t understand girl’s fascination with gay guys,” Hunter said, clearly ignoring Wiki. “It’s like…some girls can’t do anything unless they have a gay guy with them.”

“Have you ever been shopping with a gay guy?” Wiki asked.

“Obviously, he hasn’t. He still dresses like a homeless guy,” Eliza said, and everyone laughed.

“Ha, ha, ha,” Hunter said, flipping Eliza off. “Let’s get this shit on the road so we can start fucking drinking.”

Several hours later, after Eliza had helped Wiki find the perfect outfit, a dark pixie, they’d gone to Eliza’s house to get ready. Nisa had met them there, and gotten ready with them. To Eliza, it brought back memories. She’d worn the same outfit the year before when she’d been going to meet Brian. That night, she’d had some of the most amazing sex of her life, and tonight, instead, she was going to spend the night in a club, with her band mates and a gay man that people thought she was dating.

Her hair loosely curled, and her eyes lined with blue and grey, she walked with Nisa, The Grim Reaper, and Wiki towards the club. Dominic, Hunter, and Kelly were waiting by the door. After greeting each other, they made their way into the club. A techno version of “This is Halloween” was blasting, and Eliza immediately moved to the dance floor, wanting to dance.

She felt a pair of hands on her hips, and she whirled around, prepared to let someone know they weren’t wanted, when she was met with Thomas’ green eyes.

“Holy shit!” she said, hugging the man that was dressed up as an Indian.

“You missed me, didn’t you?” he asked.

“Of course I did! It’s been like two weeks since I’ve seen you! Where the hell have you been?”

“Eh, I’ve been helping more unfortunate souls discover the fact that they can’t be as fabulous as me,” he said, batting his eyes. She laughed.

“So, are we still on for lunch tomorrow?”

“Of course, dollface,” he said, watching with his eyes as an attractive guy walked by.

“I need you to run somewhere with me afterwards, too.”

“Oh, fun! Are we going shopping?”

“Actually, yes,” Eliza said, smiling at him.

“That grin makes me think dirty things. Definitely count me in.”
