Status: Don't let me leave it unfinished! I'm really stoked about this story and I've spent the last few days writing like crazy. (:

Oh Love

Suspicious Minds

I woke to soft snoring again and grinned at the sleeping boy next to me. He was just too adorable when he slept and waking up next to him really wasn’t all that bad. He at least had a comfortable bed and he wasn’t totally unattractive. I smiled. Who was I kidding? I found Alex pretty fucking attractive.

I bit my lip before decided to straddle him. He barely stirred and I tried not to giggle. I leaned down and kissed from his collarbone all the way to the corner of his mouth, tracing his jawline in between. I’d definitely have to remind him to shave. That was not exactly the most pleasant thing to kiss. When I reached the corner of his mouth I felt his hands behind my thighs and the smile creep up his face. It made me smile and when I pulled up to see his face, he was grinning.

“Is that how you wake all your men?”

I shook my head. “Nope. Only the special ones.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Really? I’m special now?”

I nodded. “Very few people could handle what just happened with Camilla and I and still be willing to date me. Especially after my mental breakdown.”

He smiled. “I’ll be here as long as you need me.”

I smiled. “Thanks, Alex.” Then I kissed him lightly.

“Mmm. Welcome. And feel free to wake me up like this all the time. I think I could become a morning person if this is the wake up I get.”

I giggled. “We’ll see.”

He grinned and one of his hands found my neck and he pulled me in for a kiss. A real one this time. I smiled half way through and he did the same but his other hand trailed under my shirt and I felt goose bumps rise on my skin. His hands were warm with callused fingers from playing guitar. I pulled away and grinned at him.

“My mother would be appalled if she ever found out I was sleeping in the same bed as a boy without having a marriage proposal.” I grinned.

“Mmm. But I haven’t listened to my mother since I left Seattle.”

“Good. Cause I like you being in my bed way too much.”

I giggled. “I like your bed.”

He pulled away and laughed. “Oh? Just like me for my bed. I see how it is.”

“Obviously. I mean, I just lost everything and a bed is much more important.”

He grinned. “Obviously.” Then he pulled me in for a kiss and I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him close in my own way.

“Odette?” I heard from the other side of the bedroom door, along with a small knock.

I pulled away from Alex and sighed. He groaned into my neck and I couldn’t help but laugh a little. I got of of him and he crossed his arms. He looked like a child and I laughed again. I sat on top of the covers while Alex pouted.

“Come in, Cam.” I said.

She came in and looked as though she had seen a ghost. My stomach dropped because that only meant bad news. Camilla was very rarely shocked or scared by things. And right now, she looked absolutely terrified. Alex went from pouty child to concerned friend in an instant and she joined us on the bed. She was even shaking.

“Cammy, what’s wrong?” I asked.

“Umm.” She glanced at Alex, nervously.

“It’s alright. What’s up?”

“Your mom called.”

“And I didn’t know if you were awake. So I answered, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t worry.” I said.

“Odette, she wants us to come home. She saw the fire on the news.” Her voice was breaking and I knew exactly why. My mother wanted us home and Camilla had absolutely no intentions of going back to Seattle. Ever.

“Cammy, it’s alright. We’re not going anywhere. I promise.”

She looked at me with tears in her eyes. “Really? We’re staying here?”

I nodded. “I’ll talk to my mother. I won’t make you go back. I don’t care what we have to do, we won’t go back. I promise.”

“No. We’re not coming back.”

I spoke to my mother firmly. I was pacing in front of Alex’s bed and he watched with only a concerned expression on his face. I glanced up from the ground and bit my lip. He looked like an adorably fuckable puppy and I really just wanted to crawl back into bed with him.

“Odette, you need somewhere to stay.”

“Mother, we’ll figure it out.”

“Why not come home?” She was pleading. I knew I should go visit but I didn’t have the heart to even bring it up with Camilla.

“Odette, don’t start with that shit. Tell me why you refuse to come home.”

“You know exactly why I refuse to come home.”

Neither one of us said anything for a moment and I continued to pace. Both my parents knew why I couldn’t come home. Camilla was my sister and I wasn’t going to do anything to hurt her. Especially do anything that involved her mother. But I did miss my parents. I sighed. Mentally, I promised myself to visit for at least Christmas.

I looked up and gave a small smile to Alex. Maybe I could bring Alex along. He seemed harmless. I doubt either one of my parents would like him. But that would mean leaving Camilla alone on Christmas. I sighed, frustrated.

I heard my mother sigh. “I know. I just miss my baby.”

“I know, mom. I miss you too. I miss both of you.”

“Do you have somewhere to stay?”

I glanced at Alex. “For the time being, yes. We start our search for our own apartment soon. We just need to find somewhere cheap.”

“Okay. Just make sure it’s a safe neighborhood. We worry, you know. About the both of you.”

“I know. We’ll figure it out.”

“Where are you staying for now?” She asked concerned.

I bit my lip. “Umm. I guess we’re staying with my boyfriend.” I glanced at Alex and he looked shocked at first. But on second glance he was grinning like an idiot. I smiled at him and rolled my eyes.

“Oh? You have a boyfriend? I had no idea.”

“It’s recent. And he was just around when the fire happened. We’ve been at his apartment for the last couple days. He has a guest bedroom for us.”

“Well, tell him thank you from the both of us. I’m glad he’s taking care of our girls.” She sounded genuinely happy about it. Maybe Christmas wouldn’t be too bad.

“I will.”

“I’m glad you two are safe and that no one got hurt. I love you both. We love you both.”

“I love you too, mommy. I’ll work out a time to visit. And maybe I’ll bring Alex.” I grinned at him and he raised an eyebrow.

“Boyfriend.” I smiled. I liked calling him that.

“Oh right. Well, that would be nice. I should probably go. I’ll call you later baby girl. We love you.”

“Love you too, mom. Send my love to daddy.”

“Will do. Bye!”

“Bye.” I hung up and looked at Alex.

He was leaning against his pillows with his arms behind his head and grinning like a fool. I bit my lip. He looked even more fuckable and I did everything in my power to avoid climbing on top of him. I also couldn't tell if he was genuinely excited by my comment about him being my boyfriend. I mean, we'd been dating what? A week? Two?

“So. Boyfriend, huh?” He was grinning and it made me bite harder on my lip.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t really know how else to tell my mother about you.”

“Why are you sorry? I like it.”

“Oh yes. It means I can officially call you my girlfriend. And it has such a nice ring to it. I kept repeating it while you spoke to your mother. I just kept calling you my girlfriend in my head. I definitely like it.”

I laughed. “Mmm. I guess you’ve got a point. Calling you my boyfriend is kind of nice too.”

“See?” He grinned and opened his arms welcoming me back to bed. And honestly, how could I resist?
