“You’re leaving?”

“I’ll be with Luka in this house, your boyfriend, for a whole week alone?”

“That’s weird mom!”
“Why? You’ve spent weeks with Luka in the house before-“
“You were there mom so it’s different.”
“How?”
“Aaaahhh! Why don’t you get that you shouldn’t leave your baby girl alone with some strange man?”
“Luka’s not strange!”
“That’s not the point!”
“Than what is?”
“The weirdness of me being alone with a man that’s not family for an extended period of time, that’s the point!”
“But you like Luka!”
“My liking him does nothing for this fight! “
“It’s for work.”
“Send me to dads!”
“I hate your father! Luka’s way better!”
“So?!”
“He might become your new daddy soon, so get used to being alone with him.”
“Might, mom he might be my new dad but not yet so it’s weird!”

“Try me.” I left her room red faced clenching and unclenching my fists. A useless outlet to my rage was the slam of my door at the end of the hallway.
