Just a Walk in the Park

You were driving in Darren’s car to an unknown destination and all you could do is rack your mind for ideas as to where he was taking you,

Maybe he’s just treating me to a really nice romantic evening or something, or maybe it’s valentine’s day in another country and he wants to celebrate.

You carry on coming up stupid ideas but none of them feel right, this felt like something big for some reason,

‘What are you thinking about?’ Darren asks looking over at you as you realise you’d had your face crinkled from thinking too much,

‘I’m just wondering where you could possibly be taking me.’ you say back looking to him and smiling,

‘Well we're almost there now.' he says smiling across to you,

'And the mystery will be revealed!' you reply dramatically.

Darren laughs and reaches over to hold your hand and you give his a squeeze,

'You know I was thinking maybe we could go visit your family again sometime. I mean it's been a while since we last saw them and you know how much I love them!' you say out of the blue,

'I think that's a great idea... but first my surprise.' Darren says excitedly as he stops his car at the side of a road, you knew you'd been past here many times but you couldn't think to where.

'Okay, I'm going to have to blindfold you now.' Darren says with a smirk on his face,

'The things I sacrifice for you!' you say huffing as you take the scarf from him, 'This is just how much I trust you.'

'I trust you too.' Darren says as he ties the scarf and puts it over your eyes, 'Now don't worry I'll be here with you all the way, it's not that far.'

You smile as you realise how much you love the adventures Darren takes you on and just go along with it.

'Is this part of the surprise because I like how close you're having to stand by me?' you say smirking as you feel Darren's hands come around your waist and you can feel his body pressed against your back as he walks behind you,

'Mmm I'm enjoying this too. You know I have total control over you now, you can't run anywhere if you don't know where you are.' Dare says as he nuzzles into your neck,

'You're such a tease you know. Now hurry up because I want to know where we are.' you say excitedly,

'Okay well we're just entering a building now, there's a small step.' he says as you feel your way into this building,

'Oo! it's warm in here.' you say,

'Yeah? Do you like it?' Darren asks laughing,

'Yeah. What's that smell?' you ask now confused, 'Is that coffee?'

'Why don't you take a look?' he replies moving round to your front and taking off your blindfold.

You slowly took in your surroundings and realised where you were,

'Why are we in the Lima Bean?' you ask smiling so much,

'Well I thought we'd take a trip down memory lane.' Darren says smiling and taking your hand leading you to a table of two,

'Do you want me to spill coffee on you again then?' you ask laughing,

'I think we can probably leave that part out.' Darren replies smiling and passing you your coffee,

'Okay, so why are we on the Glee set?' you ask still confused by this all but enjoying being here,

'You sure do ask a lot of questions.' Darren says reaching across and placing his hand on top of yours,

'And you aren't very good at answering them.' you smile and look to him taking a sip of your coffee, 'This coffee is delicious!'

'Mm I know! I get to drink this on set everyday it's the best!' he says taking a long sip and licking his lips slowly, you can't help but blush as you stare at his lips, you hear Darren starting to laugh quietly,

'Hey! Don't laugh at me!' you say slightly embarrassed,

'You know I love it when you blush.’ He says trying to defend himself,

‘Oh.. err, you’ve got a bit of cream on your lips.’ You say as you wipe it off with your thumb, then you lick your thumb, ‘Mmm… maybe I should start having cream with my coffee.’ You look up to Darren knowing he’s struggling now and you laugh,

‘This isn’t over.’ Darren replies sticking his tongue out at you, you just laugh,

‘I love you.’ You say,

‘I love you too.’ Darren says back looking straight into your eyes making your heart race, ‘Do you wanna get out of here to our next destination?’

‘Are you going to surprise me with a Klaine scene or something?’ you ask curiously,

‘It’s more of our own scene.’ He replies making you even more curious.

Darren led you to Dalton knowing it was your favourite place in the world to go to when you’re having a tough day. Everyone knew you on the Glee set now and they welcomed you so you were allowed to sneak into here when you needed peace and quiet.

You found he had taken you to a particularly special place. The staircase where Kurt and Blaine met.

But this time there were fairy lights lit up all the way down the stairs and you suddenly felt shocked by the beauty of all this,

Darren’s planning something big, you think as you carry on wondering.

Darren softly takes your hand and leads you down the stairs, when you get to the bottom Darren stops,

‘This is where Kurt and Blaine met.’ You say smiling and resting your hands on Darren’s chest,

'And it's also the place I know you love to visit by yourself.' Darren says looking at you,

I've never shared this place with anyone, you think,

'How did you know?' you ask smiling,

'I see you sometimes when I'm on set just sat here with your notebook, you always look so peaceful here.' You can see Darren staring off into the distance as if he was remembering the days he looked to you here,

'That's because I know this is the place you first appeared on Glee and if you're working I come here because I'm still near you and it makes me think if you.' you say leaning in to Darren,

'Really?' Darren replies almost breathless,

'Yeah... it kinda feels like you're looking inside my brain.' you say laughing, 'What with the coffee and now this.'

'I finally know what's going in in your brain now, do I?' he laughs knowing he never knows what you’re thinking,

'That secret will never be revealed.' you say mysteriously,

'Well I'd love to know what's going through your mind right now.' Darren asks almost worried as he holds your hands in his,

'I'm thinking about how beautiful you've made tonight and how handsome you look and how perfect you make me feel whenever I'm with you.' you say looking directly at him, 'it's like you're taking me back to the beginning when we first met, how innocent I was then,' you both laugh, 'I jus- I love what you've done today, all of this... but I can't help but wonder why.' you finish looking up to him,

'Well how about we keep on going to our next stop, maybe it'll be revealed?' Darren says making you even more curious,

'Okay.' you reply smiling, 'Where to next?'

'C'mon, I know a shortcut.' Darren says making you laugh into his arms as you know he's trying to be cheesy by using Klaine.

Darren took you down the corridor that you know so well, arm around your waist, you look up to him, studying the face you've stared into for so long, taking in every detail, from his dark brown curls to his hazel eyes which seem to hold a million colours inside them, and right at that moment you knew you wanted to spend the rest of your life with this man. The man you ran into with your coffee, the man you've had to battle for, the man who brought so much happiness to your life that you were only just realising it now how much he's changed you into the person you are today,

'(Y/N)? Are you okay?' Darren was looking to you with questioning eyes but a smile on his face,

'Yeah... I was just thinking about the journey we've had and how our journey hasn't ended yet a-and it won't do for a long time.' you say smiling back slightly nervously.

But then you look to Darren and see how his face changes, it was as if he was filled with so much joy his eyes were soft and heart-warming and then he took you by his hand and rushed you towards the warblers practice room.

The next few minutes when by so fast.

Darren opened the doors to the room to find the warblers all standing there expecting you and then Darren started singing you a song. A one direction song. Now you were sure Darren had found out about your obsession with them,

Darren had a whole dance routine with the warblers and you couldn't take your eyes off him as he danced around,

Darren walked up to you and grabbed your hands, resting his forehead against yours,

Right then all the warblers were circling you and you couldn't believe your eyes, they led you outside where you found there was a stage lit up with flowers and loads of people around it who you couldn't make out yet,

You were surrounded but then suddenly the warblers and Darren dispersed off to the stage and you were left to find a walkway towards it, you started walking forward as you met your friends either side of you. They were each holding a red rose which they handed to you as you walked past them.

You didn't understand what was happening as you made your way closer. When you reached the end two people you were met with Chuck,

'Chuck?' you ask perplexed,

'Looks like my brother’s dream has finally come true after all.' he says leaving you confused as you walk over to the last person, Joey,

'I thought you had something planned tonight!' you say laughing,

'Well this is something pretty big.' Joey says passing you his rose,

'Was this the thing you got asked to do?' you ask grinning madly,

'No but you'll soon find out what Darren asked me to do.' he says which makes you worried what they have planned together,

You finally reach Darren up on the stage, as you clutch the bunch of roses in your hand you look up to him with so many questions running through your mind,

You've got that one thing,

The song finished and then all you could see was Darren,

'What is all this?' you ask astonished,

'(Y/N)... from the minute I saw you I knew you were something special, you let a complete stranger into your home and look where we are now. We've had our fair share of problems but we always managed to pull through them, you've never stopped loving me and I've never stopped loving you. Everytime I see you my heart leaps, you make me speechless and I know deep down inside that you are the love of my life. (Y/N)... you're beautiful, smart, funny, intelligent, definitely a good cook and you know how to get under my skin, you know how to make me vulnerable but I trust you with my life and I don't ever want to let you go. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, to know that you're with me all the way to the end with our undying love.' Darren was looking to you with so much love, he was pouring his heart and soul out to you and then he got down on one knew, '(Y/N)... will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?'

It was as if a million fireworks were going off at once, you could feel the tears falling down your face as you were completely sure of your answer as you look up to Darren to see his eyes were tearing up too,

'Yes..' you say nodding as a whisper not able to get a word out, 'Yes Darren! Yes, yes, yes!' you repeat as Darren slips on the most beautiful ring and picks you up kissing you and spinning you around.

You aren't even aware of everyone else cheering as you rest your forehead against Darren's,

'I'm going to be your wife, Dare!' you say squealing,

'And I'm going to be your husband.' Darren says grinning madly as tears still stream down your faces, 'Oh.. and Joey's going to be the best man.'

You start laughing, 'Of course.' you say as you realise that is what Joey's been hiding.

The rest of the night was a blur, you remember running up to Joey and hugging him tightly say, 'It’s nice to meet you best man.' and he simply replied, 'It’s nice to meet you too, bride.'

The next thing you know you were lying in bed with Darren, neither of you could stop smiling and you finally fish out that notebook you'd been writing in,

'Dare...' you say looking to him, 'this is the book you saw me writing in the other day. Truth is, is that I started it ever since I met you when I made that memory box.'

'What do you mean?' Darren asks sweetly stroking your hair,

'This is our story... I made us a scrapbook with all out adventures in, the ups and the downs, everything.' you say passing it to him, 'it's called Just A Walk In The Park.'

'I love you… forever.' Darren says holding out his pinkie.

You laugh quietly as you join your pinkie with his, 'Forever.'
